He yawns. How long had he been waiting? Three hours? Five hours? No, he’s been there longer than that. A day, maybe? He didn’t know, he hadn’t been paying attention.

His glance shifted to the girl lying next to him. He had found her on the shore, bleeding. From the looks of it, she had been attacked by the monsters, yet she still breathed. When he found her, he made sure she was still alive, then tended to her wounds, but she was still unconscious. He didn’t mind waiting, but he knew the monsters would come looking for some prey soon. He stood up. Might as well scan the beach for some other survivors while he waits.

The beach was eerily silent. There was some places where it was obvious that whoever had been here left in a rush. At some point, he came across some corpses, but the bodies showed no sign of being attacked.

He examined the bodies for a few moments, then continued to walk. There wasn’t any reason to carry some bodies of people he didn’t know with him. Maybe it wasn’t respectful to the dead to just leave them to rot, but he wasn’t one to care. There were more important tasks at hand.

After confirming that no one else was there, he headed back to where the girl was. He felt a small rumble beneath his feet. The monsters would be here soon. Fortunately, by the time he got back, the girl had woken up.

She sat on the ground, taking in her surroundings. She had bluish-gray hair, brown eyes, brown skin, and wore a red dress and a red bow. She seemed confused as she looked around, until she noticed him. She jumped up, and began to back up.

“Y-You’re a monster! Stay away!” she shouts, scanning the beach for some sort of weapon. It takes him a minute to realize what she ment. And when he figured it out, he laughed.
