“Today is going to be a great day” André repeats to himself as he drives onto the luxurious property of Mountainpeak Entertainment, the latest studio to have property in the Golden State. At the security gate, he hands over his ID to Angela, the security guard who’s worked at the building for nearly decade.
“Good morning André” she says. “Mornin’ Angela”. André remembers something and says “I heard that the position for Chief of Security has opened up. Are you thinking of going for it?”. “I’m thinking on it. I could really use the money.” she says with a sigh. André pauses and says, "I think you should go for it. I mean you have history on your side". "And hey, if you need it I'd be more than willing to put a good word in for you".
“Thanks André, I appreciate it”. Before André could talk further, a car horn blasts behind, making it known that a line of cars has formed behind him. Putting an end to the conversation. “Well, it’s best you head on” Angela says as she swiftly hands back the ID. The two say their final farewell and depart.
Once he arrives in his wing of the building, the Marketing floor, he is quickly pulled aside by the floor’s dedicated receptionist. “André, you have an impromptu meeting in about ten minutes in Room 587 and you have some calls that I’ve sent to your voicemail”. “Thank you, Zoe” André startlingly says as he embarks to the room in question, which is filled to capacity with numerous employees in panic.
André finds a seat next to a peer who’s as anxious as the rest, but not as audible as the others in the room. “What’s going on here?” André asks his co-worker. “We’re behind on early marketing for a film and if we don’t get it done by Thursday the Head of Marketing may fire all of us!” It’s Tuesday. And because of the panic by the rest of his employees, it is made clear that André will have to wrangle the situation and lead. André has experienced crunches like this before, so there is a chance that they can make it.
“Okay, can I have everyone’s attention please?” He yells.
The room stills, with all eyes on André. “Okay, what’s the movie are supposed to be advertising?” He asks, and once this question appears, someone faintly begins to sob.
“Missed the Moon” someone answers. “What the hell is Missed the Moon?” André asks back. Everyone seems generally confused, until someone says “We’re not too sure. We think it’s one of the GameStop movies again”. Oh god, it seems like every studio is making something off of that story.
André, after some quick thinking, says “I have an idea. Do we have any footage?”.
Radio silence.
“Hello?” He asks, hoping for some response.
“...no?” the others say before he storms out of the meeting room and into his office.
