Back in his study, Arthur once again looked at the chess set by his desk. There were only five pieces on the board: a black pawn about to eat a white knight, the black queen’s bishop never moved since the beginning, and a white king that had been previously knocked over by the black queen. Arthur picked up the previously knocked over white king and twirled the rook in his hand.
The door had opened and it was Mur. She entered and placed a letter addressed to Arthur on his desk and sat opposite to him.
“Stuck on your next move?” She asked.
“What was so important that you personally came to deliver it?”
Mur flipped the paper to show a familiar stamp. “Your presence is requested at the palace. It’s coronation time again.”
“Oh my, I guess I’ll have to leave the work to you.”
“When do you not?”
“How’s Temu doing?”
“Mr. Jin misses his brother and he's worried about his mission.”
“I’ll see if I can get an update.”
“How are the seeds Queen Zula sent?”
“As she said, thriving in the brittle soil. Our farmers will be able to use this.”
“She really is amazing. I heard she’s working on Cusa’an next.”
“What piece do you have in your hand?” Mur nodded to the concealed piece that Arthur was tapping against the desk.
“My next move.”
“Well, place it now or wait until you get back.” Mur got up and handed him the letter. “Now, I’ll be going. Let me know how long you’ll need the extra meals.”
“You’re the best.”
“I know.” Mur waved goodbye and closed the door.
“Holding down the fort again?” Lyn asked.
“Yup, at least it’s just a short trip this time.”
“We really need a quicker way to get to the capital.”
“Two and a half days isn’t that bad.”
“I don’t want to hear that from someone who only has to move 20 minutes from the main residence to this one.”
“Do you want to switch Lyn?”
Despite how difficult it was to watch after Arthur, Lyn knew it was much easier than running an entire faction and quickly denied her counterpart’s offer.
“How about, I inform our guests about our departure and you don’t need to.”
“I’m still the one arranging their meals.”
“This is why you’re the best Mur.” Mur scoffed but agreed with the statement nevertheless and headed back to the main residence.
