Redding put his book down and looked at me from his highly polished and expensive table.
His four guards were looking intently at me. Waiting to see me do some wrong so they could attack me. Fucking idiots.
"Care for a whisky?" He asked, smiling. He didn't wait on my opinion and got up poured two glasses of whisky. I hated alcohol, and refrained to drink it since it was legal for me. My father was an drunkard and now we are living in house which was in fucking shambles and hadn't paid the bills since last Christmas. He couldn't pay for my education and here I am, in front of one of the biggest drug dealers in London, Redding Cartlaw.
I couldn't say no. He was my only chance now at surviving on the streets. I took the glass and took a tiny sip. It burnt my throat and I had a feeling to gag. I suppressed my feelings and smiled at him.
"I have heard a lot about you. Fortunately, they are good things." He finally said.
I had worked my ass off to get this chance and I wasn't going to waste it. I missed my fucking youth to get till here and it was finally going to pay off. I kept the glass back on the table. It almost looked untouched.
"Not much of a drinker, eh?"
"Sir, I like to do my work with concentration. Unfortunately, alcohol does the opposite."
I knew he was impressed. He also felt a bit guilty and kept his glass down slowly.
"What's your name?"
"Eddy Brown."
"I am sure you know mine." I nodded.
"I like you Eddy. But that doesn't mean I will hire you immediately. I want to see some work done, and I will give you one. There is a guy called Shane Dawson, who owes me a shit ton of money and hasn't paid me back in fucking six years. I want you to go down there, beat the shit out of him and get whatever cash he has there. Is that understood?"
I nodded curtly.
"My right-hand will be with you at all times, and report me back. Robin, go with him and see what happens, alright?" He said, turning towards a red haired man who was lean and tall. Robin nodded and stood next to me.
"Good. Now get the fuck out of here. I have a lot of work to do."
Me and Robin left the room and headed outside.
I sat in Robin's Mercedes. He told me to drive to the location. I didn't have a car of my own yet, heck, I didn't even own a bicycle. I relished the feeling of the expensive leather and made myself comfortable.
Robin sat next to me and ordered me to start driving. I wore my seatbelt and hit the accelerator.
He took out a cigar and lit it.
"Care for one?" He asked. I shook my head. It was true, I did smoke. But only when I was nervous. Which was never.
The car went on smoothly onto the roads, and it was fucking magnificent driving this beast. He probably noticed me caressing his steering wheel like a fucking woman and shifted his seat uncomfortably.
I cleared my throat and stopped doing my bullshit. After a few turns here and there, Robin finally told me to stop.
"Right here, lad. Now get the fuck out of my car. I ain't letting you touch mine ever again." I couldn't help but laugh a bit and saw Robin smile as well.
We stood in front of an apartment building, which looked like my house, but better. And that was no compliment. The paint was peeling off and the building and water dripping from everywhere. I entered the building and climbed the stairs along with Robin.
We reached the front of the door of Shane Dawson. The door was already half off the hinge. I kicked the door open and headed inside.
I heard some quick footsteps coming. It wasn't Robin. The footsteps felt more heavier. It was definitely him. I didn't have any weapons on me, except a baseball bat. My orders were to injure him, not kill.
I turned towards the direction where the footsteps were coming from. As soon as I turned, the footsteps stopped. The man knew his element of surprise was gone.
Shane Dawson was a big man. Bulky, heavy and completely filled with hard muscles. He had a long beard and rotten teeth, and fucking stank.
He had a weapon, and a machete none the less. I was the more weak armed here. Fuck.
Robin was still standing near the door, smiling. I wasn't going to get any goddamn help. I was on my own.
Shane ran at me holding his knife above his head. I shifted my feet and went behind him and got my finger right at his neck. He fell down on the floor, too shocked for a reaction. Well, shock was a reaction.
Even Robin was shocked. But he immediately gained his smile back which held for so long.
"What the fuck have you done to me? I can't feel a fucking thing!" He was crying now. I got my bat out and broke his legs first. He didn't feel the pain at all. I released the pressure point and he immediately screamed out loud. I started hitting him again with the bat. He was bleeding everywhere now. But still alive. As ordered.
I searched for the house and found thirty grand and a hundred fucking packs of cocaine. The asshole must be waiting for the prices of the drug to go up and then he would sell them at a higher rate.
Robin drove the ride back home, having just a small smile on his face.
