Arabella has helped teach me all the different races in Kroba. Of magic I had no idea even existed! I'm so thrilled to know more, reading books is something I loved, though we were not a rich family Papa always tried to get me a book or two.
Arabella would hand me book after book, looking so happy that I'm interested in learning so much. I personally feel like I'm the only human girl in this castle that knows the most right now.
She has explained everything to me in great detail. Some of it is a little embarrassing, and goes way over what I know some of the girls will be comfortable with. Though I'm willing to give anything a try, if I can I want to enjoy myself in this new place.
This kingdom will for now be my home. I need to learn as much as I can to get ahead. If I've learned anything from my mother it's that my family are fighters. We don't lay over easily, but we are not blood thirsty.
I know I can do this and make a place for myself here in this strange world.
"My lady, the seamstress has come to take your measurements." Arabella says cheerfully, I look up from the book I was currently reading about dragon kin.
I lay the book down, getting up from the bed, the seamstress coming into the room. Oh! She's a fairy like Arabella! I smile brightly happy to notice, the most fairy kin have unnatural hair colors and eyes. They also like things to be clean and neat, which is why they always look so fresh.
"Hello, my lady." She curtseys, bowing her head. I bow mine back, this seems like a greeting gesture for this kingdom. "Hello." Before I could even say the word, Arabella and the seamstress get to word on taking my measurements. They puff into their little forms, fluttering all around, going under my arms down to my waist, and back up to my shoulders.
They're moving so fast I can't keep up, so I try to stay very still. Thankfully it didn't take them long to change back and talk about the measurements. The seamstress bows before leaving as quickly as she came. My goodness...
Arabella turns to me with an excited smile spread across her face. "Why are you smiling like that Arabella?" I ask, titling my head, her contagious smile spreading to my face as well.
"My lady," she stands up straighter like her proper self. "You will be having dinner with the other women tonight, and will be live on magic waft!" She claps her hands together smiling brightly with excitement for me. I give her a defeated smile "Oh? So people are going to watch me eat and socialize?" I ask, to which Arabella nods.
"Yes, and you'll meet some suitors as well!"
"Already?"
"Yes!" She says, coming over and taking my hand. "Come I have to get you ready!" I don't fight her, and let her lead me over to the dresser.
I wonder how the other girls are dealing with this?
Arabella takes an hour to do all that she wants. She pulled two side strips of my hair and braided them to the back, curling the rest in light portions. She let two long thin curls hang down the sides of my face, saying it gives a touch of elegance.
She places light natural makeup upon my face, something I've never got the privilege to put on myself. She pulls out a pearl necklace from the dresser drawer, resting it on my neck. The pearls hang close to my neck, complementing my slightly darker skin.
The door opens to reveal the seamstress from before, holding a bright sapphire dress. I go to ask where she got that from before Arabella did their flutter thing again. The dress magically ending up on my body!
The dress melts to the floor in beautiful shades of blue sapphire, white butterflies fluttering their wings to life. The sparkle of their wings reflecting the light along with the stardust crystals scattered all of the dress. The low shoulder dress fluttering effortlessly like the butterflies that live on it, the bigger one at the bust flapping slower than the rest.
Arabella comes over and places a flutter of magical white butterflies at the side of my left braid. This is crazy, the move when I do!
I turn to the mirror to find a woman I've never seen, her familiar blue eyes looking back at me. Is this really me? I have no words, I never thought I could ever look like this...
I turn to Arabella and the seamstress, they're both smiling at me with pride and awe. "My lady, you are truly gorgeous..." Arabella says breathlessly, her hand over her heart.
I giggle softly "I feel gorgeous..." Arabella smiles at me brilliantly, like her heart has been filled with love.
"I'm happy my lady, you will stand out tonight! In my opinion you are the most beautiful of all." She smiles more, holding out her hand. "Come, my lady, dinner awaits."
Arabella leads me to the meal hall, explaining that the queen will come later to present us to the kingdom. That will definitely be interesting.
We reach two giant doors, the two servants opening them to reveal the meal hall. Some women are already sitting and others looking around curiously.
Arabella and I walk in, I look around seeing the beautiful chandeliers hanging in rows on to the ceiling. He light bouncing off the crystals, and the golden aesthetic of the meal all. The chairs look pushed and very comfortable, all the food already prepared, looking heavenly. I can't wait to have some food, I haven't eaten all day.
Arabella leads me to a chair, looking across the table a chair or two down, I see Lucy. She's wearing an open backed gown that melts down her sides, showing off her body sensually. The dress has fluffy feathers adoring her chest and even down to the hem, the color is coral pink, the feathers white. She has her hair styled up with white feather also decorating it, a few curls neatly hanging at the back of her elegant bun.
She looks flustered before seeing me, she gets up abruptly surprising her servant. She walks over to the seat across from me, sitting down elegantly.
"Oh thank goodness someone I know..." She looks panicked and nervous. I look at her concerned "Are you alright Lucy?" I ask, she looks me in the eyes, her palms clamped together.
"I'm nervous...I'm also dressed out of my element. I'm not used to any of the customs here, I would never wear anything like this back home. My parents would have sold me off to some old rich guy in a different village..." She looks at her dress defeated and uncomfortable. She looks back at me "Did you know it common for women here to show so much skin. Makes sense with how the queen was dressed when we first arrived..." She takes a deep breath trying to calm herself. I grab her hand as much as I could from how wide this table is.
"Don't stress so much Lucy, this is new for everyone and try to enjoy it. They haven't treated us badly at all, and let's try to understand them the best we can." I give her a reassuring smile, she takes a deep breath again before nodding.
"Alright I'll try, it just won't be easy." I nod, smiling softly "Of course all I can ask is that you try."
We both hear soft clanking of heels heading our way, turning to see who it is, I find Willow. She's wearing a fluffy knee length dress, the back open modestly. The dress connecting at the back of the neck, showing off her delicate and heavily freckled shoulders. Her dress is simpler, but it's her fluffy curled hair that owns the show. I knew before it was long and gorgeous, but her maid really did magic with it. Her dress is gold, with golden bumble bees buzzing quietly at the hem, following her wherever she goes. Much like my butterflies.
Her head is adorned with a golden flower crown, golden bees following that as well. Her puffy dress has white flowers placed gorgeously in many areas, more at the hem and bust.
She walks over sitting next to me gracefully. She turns and smiles at me nervously "You look gorgeous Willow!" I say cheerfully, she blushes, hiding her face with her hair. "Thank you, I think you look beautiful too." She smiles warmly and gently, looking at my dress fondly.
She's taking this better than Lucy is, which is kinda surprising. "Are you enjoying yourself so far?" I ask Willow who looks like she's glowing, literally. Her eyes twinkle "Yes I am actually, my maid is really nice. She's helped calm me down, and is teaching me a lot." She scrunches her shoulders up in joy, putting a smile on my face.
"I'm really glad, I was worried about you a couple times." I confess, she smiles soft, her eyes still twinkling with joy. "Thank you it means a lot..Um.." She looks to the side thinking, I help fill her in "Beatrice, my name's Beatrice." She blushes, nodding her head innocently. "Yes, thank you Beatrice." She blushes more, her smile lighting up her face.
I bow my head slightly "No problem." I give her a smile of my own, I look over to Lucy since she's been quite this whole time.
She staring off toward the door, her eyes wide, both Willow and I look as well. We find that caramel girl, walking in with a blood red dress, splits up the sides much like the queens from before. The dress holds tight to her body, showing off her big hips and nice legs.
Her hips sway side to side as she walks up to the table, sitting across from Willow confidently. Her hair is styled in intricate braids on the side, the rest straight and chest length. I notice some other small braids mixed in with her straight hair. She looks like a savage princess ready to conquer a kingdom.
"Wow Sona, you look amazing." Willow says, in awe struck, her eyes wide in amazement. So Sona was her name, it fits her.
Sona huffs, rolling her shoulders "That was too much pampering." She says, giving her maid the side eye. I smile at her comment, I really like this girl.
