King's POV
The bell rang to start class as I looked around the room. Everyone was seated and ready to go. I hated this school already. I've never been to private school before but I guess this is where my dad and uncle went so of course my uncle would make me go too.
Bunch of stuck-up snobs if you ask me.
The teacher walked in and started the history lesson as I put my head on my hand and leaned to the side. I hate mornings so much. I just wanted to go back to sleep.
I hated asking that damn kid for help yesterday even more though but that was my own fault. I didn't pay attention when my cousin Kiki dropped me off but I was tired as hell and I really didn't want to spend the whole afternoon walking around to find my way.
I closed my eyes ready to get go back to sleep when the door opened to the room.
"Welcome to class finally Mr. Late. So glad-," the teacher started but stopped as everyone gasped quickly.
My eyes shoot open. What the hell was going on now? I looked up to the front of the classroom but by then the teacher was already walking into the hallway and closing the door behind her.
"Did you see his face?" One boy whispered close by.
"What happened to him?" A girl asked.
"Poor Leo," another girl said.
Leo? Oh, that was the kid that helped me yesterday. I looked over to see his seat empty in the next row to confirm for myself, I didn't even notice he wasn't there earlier. I just didn't care to pay attention, even if he did have a cute face.
The door opened again as the teacher walked in and I leaned forward to get a look at what everyone was going on about.
"Leo can explain later at lunchtime. Let's get back to class everyone," the teacher told us as Leo walked in.
I was expecting his face to be all beat to shit or I don't know something. He just had a bruise on the corner of his mouth and his lip was split near it. I just rolled my eyes and shook my head. It wasn't that big of a deal. Shit, people around here were so dramatic.
---
Falling asleep in my chair the bell rang for lunch as everyone flocked over to the kid that showed me around yesterday. I was a little curious myself to hear what he had to say so I stayed in my seat and leaned against my hand to listen to all their questions.
Seems like this doesn't happen often as he puts his hands up in defined and smiles trying to calm everyone down. "It's fine, really. I just walked into a fight after school and tried to help but ended up getting hit myself. An honest mistake. It's not a big deal. Really, I'm fine. Just a little bruise."
He explained the same thing a few times and finally, people started walking away, uninterested in his boring story. Must be nice to have so much attention over a little bruised lip. I rolled my eyes.
"We're glad you're okay Leo," one girl says leaning closer to him but then another girl pushes her way in front.
"Awe, poor Leo. Would you like to join us for lunch today?" She smiled, pushing her huge breasts out at him more than they already were. Wow, I guess we all know what she was after.
Seems like the girls around here were pretty fond of this kid though. I mean I could see why, he had those really big ice blue eyes that stuck out brightly against his warm ivory skin and really isn't that bad looking. His huge smile seemed to put everyone in a more calm and relaxing mood around him. That slightly pointed-up nose, and not that bad looking of an ass that I checked out yesterday when he was showing me around too... Okay, so he was cute as hell, I'll have to admit. I'm not all that surprised they would throw themselves at him like that either.
"No, I'm sorry ladies. I have some work to catch up on so I'm going to just stay here for lunch. Thank you," he answers and that kinda shocked me. I mean what guy wouldn't be rolling in their attention. They were pretty cute too. Even the slutty one with her boobs about to pop out of her shirt for everyone to see.
"Awe okay," they all pouted. "Tomorrow then?"
"Yeah sure. Tomorrow it is." He nodded his head as he smiled with his eyes closed.
They all giggled to each other as they walked out with big bubbly smiles. I roll my eyes at them and start packing up to leave when I hear a loud sigh of relief followed by a quick groin of pain. I snapped my head back up to see Leo holding his ribs as his head dropped against the deck in a hiss in pain.
"Got hit more than once, didn't you?" I asked him, making him jump around in surprise and fear on his face.
Then he smiled once he saw it was me sitting in the back of the class and rubbed the back of his neck with a reddening face. "Oh Uh, King. Haha. I didn't see you there."
I rolled my eyes again knowing he could see it. "Obviously." I looked at him bored of this conversation. "Been hiding your ribs pretty good today, I'll have to say," I told him as I stopped packing my books and stood up. I never would have known about it if I haven't seen him do that.
"I'm- I'm fine really. It doesn't hurt that bad," he lied to me with a fake smile.
I've been in a lot of fights throughout the years to know that if it hurts to even sigh then it hurts to breathe and this kid was in fact in pain.
"Yeah. Whatever you tell yourself. Not my problem to deal with," I told him harshly and walk out, not really caring to know what else happened.
I wasn't here to make friends or care about someone else's bullshit, no matter how cute their face was. I wasn't going to be in this school that long to have time for the bullshit and drama that comes with having friends.
After I got my lunch, I sat down alone in the courtyard I saw yesterday and started eating my chips. About halfway through the bag I dropped my head and started feeling bad for Leo though, and that made me frustrated. I couldn't help but think about that kid, with the way too bubbly and nice attitude, sitting up there alone and in pain like that. Ugh, damn it. I ended up not eating anymore so I just sat there alone looking at all the flowers in full bloom for a little while before making my way back up to the room again once the bell rang.
Lucky for Leo the gym teacher was out for the day so we ended up sitting in class studying for those 2 hours. I couldn't help but pay more attention to him as the rest of the day went on. Noticed how he twisted here and there and closed his eyes in pain but didn't make a sound or try to touch where it hurt the much. I guess he's stronger than I thought. It kinda made me feel bad.
After class was over I walked into the bathroom before I had to start my long walk back to my uncle's house. I know he will be sitting behind his computers looking around like usual. He doesn't leave the house unless needed to so his skin was paler than most and skinny from not eating much but damn that guy knew the answer to almost every question you asked him.
Using the bathroom and washing my hands, I started to walk out of the bathroom when I saw Leo standing at the top of the stairs alone and stopped in the doorway.
'Yeah man good luck,' I told him in my head. But I really don't want to just walk past him because he knows I know and I really didn't want to help him and have him think I was a nice person or whatever. I didn't need the drama.
I heard him let out a groan of frustration before he started down, holding the handrail as I watched like a dick.
"Woah shit!" He yelled out and his head disappeared way too quickly as I heard a few loud thuds that made me cringe.
Without thinking, I ran over to see what the hell happened and saw him lying on the halfway platform on his knees with his forehead pressed against the cold hard floor in pain. Holy fuck.
I quickly ran down skipping a few steps. "Shit. You okay?" I asked, falling to my knees next to him with my hand on his back. "Should I get the nurse?"
"I'm fine!" He snapped through his teeth angrily. I pulled my hand back like he just burned me.
"You're more stubborn than a jackass."
"Ugh," he groaned clearly in pain. "I'll be fine. You can leave now. Not your problem to deal with. Remember?" He threw my words back at me.
That made me laugh a little as I stood up. People don't normally talk to me like that. In fact, they stay away from me because I scared them. I'm a fighter and a dick to people so I didn't have a lot of friends, which I liked, but I'll let it slide since he's the one already in bad shape.
"Ugh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." He sounded a little upset, but he was right.
"It's fine. You're right, it's not my problem but I'm gonna love watching you walk down the rest of these steps by yourself," I said with a cockily smile as I looked down at him.
Leo rolled his head to the side to look at the steps before he chuckled a little. "Yeah. Me too."
I let out an annoyed sigh as I helped him to his feet. I really couldn't just leave him here. If it were anyone else I would have just walked past them without a care but... something in me just couldn't do it to this kid.
I took a second to scan out the situation. I was taller than him. Putting his arm around my neck so I could help him down would only be more painful for him so I did the only thing I could think of at the time and just picked him up like a bride as I held him against my chest.
