Chapter 6

“Wow, lucky you,” exclaimed Alyiah as she stuffed her mouth with sushi.

“Eww how can you even eat that shit,” grumbled Willow as she slurped her noodles.

“Sushi is nicee,” Alyiah replied

“Jollof rice all the way!” Raven and I shouted in unison.

Raven’s face soon dropped as she narrowed her eyes behind me.

“What?” I ask.

“Looks like your lover has arrived,” whispered Willow, but loud enough for Malik to hear.

“Is there a problem?” Malik questioned to Raven as he narrowed his eyes back at her, placing his right hand on the back of my chair, “didn’t your parents ever tell you that it is rude to stare?”

“Didn’t your parents ever teach you to not speak while your mouth is full?” replied Raven

It was at that moment I realised he was munching on a packet of sensations. Eww as he spoke, bits and pieces of crumbs scattered all over out of his mouth.

“Get that shit in my hair and your-“

“And what?” he asked as he interrupted me.

“I don’t remember anyone inviting you over to our table,” willow added

“instead of attacking me for blessing you guys with my presence, why don’t you check up on your dear friend who left the table without you guys even noticing.”

“Wait what-,” how did we not realise Alyiah leaving the table

“I’ll go find her,” I spoke as I got up from my seat, barging my way past Malik.

“What the heck did I do to her?” he questioned as he took a spoon full of my jollof rice.

“Hmm I wonder what,” the girls replied as they continued their conversation ignoring his presence.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stroll around the school perimeter, where the heck could this girl could be. Damian High is a pretty huge school. However, I know it like the back of my hand.

I then realised where Alyiah could be. The dilapidated block.

The teachers closed it off for health and safety reasons because it was so badly damaged in a supposed accident.

Two kids were in a science lab and spilt some acid. They stupidly placed those dry green scratchy paper towels to clean it up, and it set o fire burning half of the block. From then on, the teachers were extra strict on the science labs and always locked them straight after each lesson. Once slip up in the science lab and they could suspend you for 3 weeks, such a drag.

I continue to stroll down to the west hallway as my phone buzzed. I reluctantly pulled it out of my pocket to see a message from an unknown number.

I honestly couldn’t be asked to waste my valuable time with ‘anonymous’ a swipe left and remove the notification, shuv it in my pocket and continue walking.

At that moment it started buzzing again. It was honestly driving me insane. I pulled it back out of my butt pocket and unlock my phone to read the message.

A wave of anxiety crashed over me as my phone slipped out of my hand onto the floor. It was then I realised how empty the west hallway was as my phone hit the glossy floor.

I pick it back up and scan the messages

Unknown number:

              hello Nevaeh

Why don’t you stop being a pussy and reply to my message

What, this must be some stupid prank, I think. I don’t know why I was so shook but i took out my mini pocket knife from my sleeve and held it out. #Teachers don’t really come out round here, so at least I won’t get caught. My phone then buzzed again.

Ay, I wouldn’t do that if I was you

Be a dear and put that back

Wait, what? They could see me. My heart started pounding harder and harder than my breathing passe sped up.

Listen darling, two people have already died because of you...

Don’t you think it is your turn ,

       I don’t understand: You

      Oh you will, soon enough

What the heck did that mean? Was I being stalked? Two people already died.. because of me? This is the second time that I have had a death threat. I honestly don’t understand. God, what kind of sin have I committed to gain such a curse like this?

I turn my phone off and put it back in my pocket and putting my pocket knife back in the little slit pocket i made of my sleeve.

I wipe a tear that rolled down my face and I continue my way to the dilapidated block (TDB) for short.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, I made it to the entrance. If Alyiah was actually here, what the heck would she be doing. I only come here when I want time to myself, even though this place stinks. The lights are powered off, and it feels like a freezer in here.

I soon began to hear giggles from far down of the North hallway echoing down towards me. What the actual-

As I walk down, the giggles soon turn to what sounded like moans.

It couldn’t be... could it? A grin soon painted across my face as I sniggered. It must be someone else. It couldn’t help to check.. I guess.

I took a deep breath as my hand clenched against the door nob. One.. two.. three.

No? It couldn’t be.

“Alyiah?”

She was pinned against the wall, towered by a familiar figure. He was practically eating out her face. Eww, I could never.

“Nevaeh?” she drew her face away from the guy as she pulled his hands off her waist “why are you here?”

“What are you doing here?”

“None of your business, gosh!”

“Wait, Nevaeh?” the figure spoke as he turned around again trying to wrap his arms around Alyiah’s waist pulling her close to his area.

“Lucus?”

“You guys know each other?”

“eer, yh... he is my roommate”

This is going to be awkward. My best friend.. making out with my roommate? Gah daym.

“I think you should leave.” she took her jacket and adjusted her bra strap.

How dare she. I go out of my way to find her. She does this and had the audacity to tell me to take my leave ugh.

“It’s ok I was just about to,” I replied

“Good.”

And with that I walked out, not looking back. Willow, I’d accept but her. What happened to “boys disgust me”? or “I’d rather explore a book than a boy’s you know”?

I guess people change, but I honestly don’t know how it happened or where to start. Since when did Alyiah take an interest in boys? Wait, how could she not have told us? We are her best friends, for goodnes’s sake.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So did you find her?” asked Willow.

“Yep.”

“Whats wrong with you?” questioned Raven.

“Nothing.”

I was fuming, angry. Hang on, why was I even bothered. I kept telling myself, It’s because she never told us, or maybe the way she reacted to my presence.

Truth be told, you could say that I was jealous. Ugh eww no.

“Ok fine I ain’t ok”

Both willow and Raven glared at me then started laughing.

I explained everything to them except for the anonymous messages; I didn’t want to bother them with that sort of stuff. Well, I mean this Alyiah situation in’t that deep to them but if I told them about the messages Willow would freak out because she comes up with all these stupid theories especially cus she watches all these thrillers and horror films.

Raven would just go into instant overprotective mode, especially because she knows what happened to me on the last day of me being In Italy before I moved down her to America.

“yh, I caught them eating each other’s face off with his arms wrapped around her body,”

“Damn, that could be us.”

Ugh, I had completely forgotten Malik was there, and she had heard everything I said. Amazing.

“So back to what I was saying,” I ignored his statement, "she started getting rude for no reason like dude since when did she start acting up for boys?"

We all laughed and got up from the bench and headed to the school building as we all prepared for last period.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ugh was last period boring. Who the heck cares about forces and scalars and all of that. To be honest, I wasn’t even paying attention. I still wound my head up around the text messages I was getting?

The sound of Willow’s voice soon interrupted my thoughts

“You want to stay over at mine?”

“Yh sure”

It would be weird for me to go back to the apartment where Lucas was at, I mean, nope not going to happen.

Me and Willow then headed over to the breakfast burrito shop to get some coffee and we headed our back to her house.
