It had been about a day since the three had discussed what to do about the issue that had arisen in the forest nearby the village. Luckily, the cave that the young Dark Elf had discovered was deep enough into the forest that it would take at least a month before the Abyssal corruption would be near any form of civilization. The Mayor had already sent out the Hunters to the nearby villages and towns to warn them of the danger, and to inform them that they had sent someone off to the Central branch to look for an expert, to make sure.
Because of this, the young dark elf had dressed in a similar outfit as when she went into the forest to look at the cave. Some simple leather armor over her clothes to protect herself, her two daggers on her hips, resting in their sheaths. As well, in addition to this, she also had wrapped a scarf around her neck and mouth. This was done, mostly to protect her from any weather that took place, and from the air resistance that she would likely experience due to how fast she was going to have to travel, in order to get to the Central Branch in time. She had at most a month, to look for an expert after all.
Soon enough, she was finally ready to head out towards the Central branch. Waving good-bye to the villagers, she started heading out right away, as she did not know how long it would take her before she found an adequate expert, that would actually be able to help them with the issues at hand. She shuffled lightly, as she headed out on the road towards the capital of the nation she was in. Which also served as the location of the Central Branch for the Adventurer's Guild. A place she hoped to find someone who knew how to combat against Abyssal Magic, and thus how to deal with a Void Stone.
It had only been a couple of hours now as she continued the trek to the capital city, something the young dark elf had not done in some time since she had left it. She wasn't sure how much had changed in the years she had been gone, but a part of her was reluctant to return, due to things that had happened in her past. While it was true that she had become a well-known Adventurer since joining, even having participated in the investigation that had taken place prior to the one that would likely spawn due to her informing what had taken place in the small border village, she still worried about if something in her past would pop up to ruin her now peaceful life. Or someone.
She let out a soft sigh, however, pulling out a small loaf of bread as she stepped aside on the dirt road that leads towards the capital, so that a carriage, likely heading to some Noble's villa, based on the fact it had an insignia upon it. One that the young dark elf did not recognize. It was fair to say that she had barely paid much attention to such things, however, even though she had lived a good chunk of her life so far in the Capital, and only having spent the past couple of years outside it, in the small village of Alfeon, an almost secret getaway that she had enjoyed since arriving there.
However, this no longer mattered to her. Her home was now in danger of being lost to her due to something that could be prevented. It didn't matter to her that she did not want to return to the Central Branch, since many of the adventurers there would likely recognize her, and fawn over her due to things she had done in the past. This did not matter, since she had to return in order to find an expert in dealing with Abyssal Magic, and thus Void Stones. Soon enough, after taking a couple of more bites of the loaf of bread, she turned to return to her journey back to the capital, and thus to the Central Branch. A frown on her face as she did so.
It wasn't long into her trek, that the dirt paths slowly gave way to cobble ones, as she rather quickly neared the capital. Once more taking a break as she stood aside from the road, it had now been about half a day since she had started out towards the capital from Alfeon. She estimated, that if she continued, it would take her at most another half a day to reach the capital, leaving her just under a month to not only find an expert but bring them back to the village. Normally, by carriage, it would take just under three days to reach Alfeon, but since she had higher stamina than many of the horses that carriages used, and even some oxen, the young dark elf, when on her own, was able to take fewer breaks, and therefore cut the travel time is more than half.
The young elf stretched lightly, as she glanced about the cobbled road, smiling softly finally as she glanced about it once more. There were a few carriages going about at the time, as well as plenty of people walking along the road. This, of course, was a sure sign that she was at least near a large village, or even a small town. Slowly glancing at the map that she had brought along with her, she slowly nods. Sure enough, there was a small town nearby, one that she would likely be able to get some rest at if she chose to take the detour to it. As much as the idea of such a thing was appealing, even to her, she did not exactly have the luxury to do such a thing this time around, since it would mean that she would have less time in the capital to look for an expert.
On the other hand, however, it was possible that visiting the town might lead her into finding an expert before reaching the capital, and thus cutting down on travel time. However slim of a chance it was, she herself would likely need to decide on her own if it was worth risking the detour. Even some hints on an expert on dealing with Abyssal magic was better than blindly looking around for one. Because of this, the young dark elf picked up her pack, once she was done with her quick rest, and slowly turned, off of the road to the capital, and towards the town nearby.
Hopefully, this small town had at least a small branch of the Adventurer's Guild, as at the least, they could send out a letter to the Central Branch in the capital, which would likely get there faster than she could on foot. She smiled a bit at this thought, as it would mean that the capital would likely already be gathering anyone who would remotely be of use in dealing with a Void Stone, and any other Abyssal magic, by the time she arrived there. That is if this town was a bust and lead her to nothing in return for her detour.
Hopefully, this detour would lead to something worth it so that at least she would not have to feel the guilt of causing people to lose their lives because of a mistake that she had made.
