He found the office easily enough, the reception desk manned by an austere woman that looked like she'd been around since the school was built.

She glanced up and noticed the tall boy striding towards the desk.

"I'm supposed to meet with the principle this morning, i'm starting school today.", Alex explained she smiled softly at him and told him to head right on in, that he was expected.

The principles office was actually quite nice, a rich mahogany desk took over a good chunk of space with a laptop, a coffee mug and several other items scattered around.

The principal himself stood up and extended his hand for Alex to shake, a smile on his face.

Principle O'shaw had only just taken over in the school and had asked his mom to come work for him, apparently having worked with her before.

"Alex, so great to finally meet you, Alicia never stops talking about you.", he said, a smile on his face.

Alex looked at the 30 something guy sat behind his desk and immediately thought he seemed kind of cool, with a soft voice, soft eyes and fiery red hair.

"Thank you sir, its nice to meet you too." Alex said extening his hand and giving the man a quick handshake.

The principle explained all the campus rules and stuff then sent him off to his first class which was Math (which he wasn't particularly fond of).

Walking through the halls Alex realised he had no idea where he was going, the room number was 216 indicating the second floor, but alex got lost navigating the labyrinth of unfamiliar halls.

He found some stairs and ascended to the second floor, looking around he realised he must be on the wrong side of the building, all the room numbers were too high, Alex didn't notice the other person for a moment until he cleared his throat, making Alex jump a litle.

"you lost?", said a quiet voice.

Alex turned and came face to face with a slightly shorter guy with wavy blonde hair. Alex nodded, "first day here, i've got Math in room 216 but i'm completely lost." he admitted.

"Huh, we're in the same class, c'mon i'll walk you, im Riley by the way." he grinned.

"Sweet, thanks. Name's Alexander but most people just call me Alex." he responded with a quick smile.

Maybe this day wouldn't be so bad after all?

They found the room pretty quickly and found seats next to each other and started chatting waiting for the teacher to arrive.

Riley was pretty cool with a lot of the same interests as Alex and was always quick to make him laugh.

It turned out that Riley hadn't been in town too long either and they had a lot of classes together so they became friends pretty quickly.

At lunch Riley asked if Alex wanted to join him for lunch, Alex nodded and Riley led them to the school cafeteria.
