Arsenals of Ephilor: The Rising Fire

Apprentice of Flame, Part 3

Apprentice of Flame, Part 3

Feb 23, 2021

Luckily, the fire wasn't that large yet so he didn't panic. He stood up from the ground, grabbed the book that was on top of the tree stump, and smacked it on the area where the fire was desperately spreading.

He sighed once more, making him realize that he had been sighing a lot today.

Lifting the old book from the ground, his eyes, fixated on the scorched grass, shifted his gaze to the words that were written on the book's cover.

Raw Mana Manipulation

Disinterested, he placed the book back to the tree stump and made his way to the house, ducking under the hanging laundries as well.

"No wonder my father used it as my target practice," he said to himself.

Actually, raw mana is the purest form of mana. Every conscious being, including humans, contains raw mana in their bodies. It is mostly used to reinforce a part of their body — the most basic offense and defense that they had.

Its usage is very simple. You just have to converge mana particles to a specific area of your body. Easy as that. The downside of it, however, is that it costs a lot, which is why many preferred to use elemental mana over raw mana.

But let's not forget the fact that raw mana is the root of all four elements. Calling it useless would be considered blasphemy. The reason why elemental mana was said to be efficient was because a small amount of raw mana is already equaled to a quite large amount of elemental mana upon conversion — that is, of course, if one had an elemental rune.

Upon entering the house, Seth was met by a hollow silence. It seemed that his father had already gone to work.

His father works as a personal guard for a noble, so he often comes home at the dead of night. As for his mother, she mostly stays at home to take care of the house. But right now, she was nowhere in sight. It made Seth think that maybe she went outside.

Shrugging his shoulders, he headed to the dining table, ate breakfast, and went straight for the bathroom. Once he was finished taking a bath, he dressed in a simple gray robe and black pants. He walked towards a wall, facing the mirror.

"Dark colors are the best."

With that in mind, he went outside the house and embraced the morning breeze, amplifying the freshness that he was currently feeling. As he took a deep breath, he expectantly turned his head left and right and spotted a woman who was sitting on the wooden bench across their house.

It was his mother.

Nice pacing. Some typos you could fix. Interesting read so far. :)
