She spoke slowly allowing Alex to absorb the information she was telling him about his birthright, the past of the werewolves and their origin.

The last sentence she spoke pricked Alex's ears up though.

"When your wolf said mate, it means you've found your soulmate, the one you are destined to be with. starting tonight i'll train you to control your inner wolf and harness the gifts granted to us werewolves. right now we are known as rogues, the local pack is aware of us and our intentions have been spoken to their leader, he agreed to us being here while you learn before you leave to find your own pack. Lastly you are known as an Omega werewolf, meaning you are weaker than higher ranked werewolves such as the alpha and beta, but you are stronger than most pack members. Being an omega has it's own responsibilities too as they are known to be the ones that end up in charge if the alpha and beta leave the territory for any reason."she said.

She beckoned to Alex to step outside before heading for the woods behind his house, she asked Alex to close his eyes before she stripped off and changed into her wolf form.

You can open your eyes now she said in Alex's mind, which made him jump, not realising that such a thing was possible.

Alex opened his eyes and took in the sight that was his mothers wolf.

She had grey-silver fur with white socks.

Her golden eyes burned into Alex she sat down as Alex looked at her before she explained how it worked and ordered Alex to strip down before beginning to explain how to change into his wolf.

word of warning, your first shift hurts like a bitch, i'm here for you but you can't give up halfway through the shift otherwise there's a chance you'll be stuck in that form.

now just relax, call your wolf in your mind, learn its name then tell me.

Alex closed his eyes and concentrated as his mother told him, in his mind a faint outline of the wolf came into view.

The wolf sat up and looked at Alex before huffing slightly.

took you long enough, i've been bored out of my mind in here, finally learnt what you are did you?

Alex nodded while the wolf appraised him with eyes of shimmering gold.

The wolf nodded, before speaking again, i accept you as my master and other self, now give me a name.

Alex thought for a moment before settling on a name, "I name you Goliath."

The wolf's tongue lolled out slightly as it gave him a kind of grin.

Goliath, i like it, i have to tell you something though before you go, what your mother said about you being an omega is only half right.

You have the blood of both an Alpha and an Omega, which means instead of finding a pack, you will have to create a new one from scratch, as no pack will accept anyone that may challenge the Alpha.

Now go, and tell your mother what i just said, she may be able to help with that.

Alex opened his eyes slowly, while he'd been speaking with his wolf, his mother had shifted back and dressed and stood quietly watching him.

"I've spoken wih my wolf and named him Goliath. but he told me there's spomething i have to tell you, something important." he paused for a second before continuing, "He said that i have the blood of both an Alpha and an Omega, and that i have the gifts of both ranks, meaning that i will have to create a pack as other packs will reject me outright due to my strength."

His mom looked shocked for a secong before pulling him into a hug.

"That's going to be a problem love, i'll need to train you more then beg the local alpha to give you some training into being an alpha of a pack" she said.

"for tonight, i want you to experience your first shift, just relax and call Goliath into your mind and allow him to assume control" she instructed.

Alex did as she said and allowed his other self to take over, he felt the wolf's eagerness to run and allowed him to begin shifting.

Alex screamed in agony as he felt his bones popping, changing configuration and length .

The pain lasted 5 minutes until where Alex sat there sat a majestic russet wolf with golden markings on its back.

Alex's mom let out an audible gasp when she saw his wolf.

Alex was surprised that he could still see, hear, think and smell and everything, he even retained control of his wolf, everything was amplified though, smells became sharped, his sight became clearer and he became aware of a strange scent coming from his mother.

Alex padded up to his mom and nuzzled her palm, trying to figure out what the smell reminded him of.

Lavender, he finally realised.

His mom walked behind him and shifted back into her wolf before mind linking Alex.

Lets go for a run, give you a chance to get used to your wolf's form and give your wolf a chance to stretch his legs.

Alex nodded and they took off running into the woods, Alex pausing every now and then to figure out a new scent, most were markings from the local pack, but others were things such as flowers, the scent of which had become crisp and clear as day.

After a few hours they headed home so they could both get some sleep before the next days work.
