The class was a blur all I remember was the belling ringing for me to leave. But that didn't end my worries since I had another class to attend and I had the books I need in my locker. I felt as tho, those papers were taunting me, "Cleo come look at us... Cleo we have a surprise for you.. Cleo... Cleo. Cleo!!!", I just slam my locker and walk away.
As I am heading to my next class I feel the air around me get heavy. I lift my head to see what was going on and everyone was looking at me. I pause and stare right back at them with an Uhh, can I help you? look on my face until the bell rang. They all head to their classes after and so did I.
While in this class all I could think about is the immense stress that is coming because I took those papers. I bet the kids staring at me in the hallway knew that too it's as if I stared a chou in an unknown land. With my elbow on the desk and hands linked in front of my nose, I notice the board has a mistake. I unconsciously stand up and make my way to the board and correct the mistake. The class goes silent and stares at me. When I finish and return to my seat they're still staring.
The teacher then says "Ms smith what seems to be the problem?"
I look at her and my classmates confused, "Uhh there was a mistake... and I corrected it.".
Voice in the back of the class "Who said you could correct it?", I turn around and began to stutter "I.. i- no one" sigh. I then face towards the front and the teacher goes,
"I get that you were homeschooled but that's not how we do things here. If there is a problem on the board we tell the class teacher.. me and highlight the problem. Children are not allowed to take matters into their own hands here. Do you understand?" I couldn't believe this woman.
So I just smile and say, "Noted!" and she smiles back.
The girl in back then goes "Welcome to the real world!" I turn around and go "Thank you!".
Class ends and as I'm packing up to go to my locker and a person decides to stand behind me. When I turn around it the girl from earlier who welcomed me.
I flinch and say "Hi!" she says nothing for a few seconds then walks up to me.
"If you wanna be the next student council president you will have to take the current one down. I will help you all I need is one favor.".
I reply,
"and that is?".
She smiles,
"A position on your student council.".
I was considering it but I decided to ask her,
"Why and how would you help me? We are both freshmen you know as much as I know about the student council.".
She nods,
"But I mean if the president is your sister you'd know more plus I can be lots of help I have dirt on all of the upperclassmen they all folk our home.".
I was in the middle on this offer she could be my ace in the hole or my downfall, I mean blood is thicker than water right? I want to test her to see if it was a trap but if it was they would immediately know that I was after something other than that position. Testing her would make me seem insecure about something or like I was hiding something. I'm just a freshman, what reason do I have to be skeptical about this offer? If this was planned it was ingenious but if not I could be in the clear so I kept my enemy close.
"Why would you betray your sister like that?"I asked.
"Sister..."
She replies in a high pitched tone bursting into tears,
"That b!tch and her mother took my father away from me!"
I hug her and say while looking into her eyes and rubbing her shoulder,
"We will have our revenge and it will be the sweetest, trust me with your life and I will deliver. I promise."
She looks at me confused but agrees because what humans want more than love is revenge. That's easier to get anyway.
