Kyoto, The Ancient Capital, and The Wondrous Tourist Attraction

Kyoto, The Ancient Capital, and The Wondrous Tourist Attraction

Feb 28, 2021

Mainland Japan. There were some difficulties on the flight(mostly due to Tomoe knowing never going on one), but they had finally arrived in Kyoto. It was a city with a very old look. It gave off the vibes that you were several hundreds of years in the past, yet at the same time, it feels that it could only look the way it does during this time period. It feels like the perfect balance between old and new, classic and modern. You may ask, 'where in Kyoto? It's a pretty big prefecture.' And the answer is, Kyoto. They were in Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan and their business there was the Fushimi-Inari Shrine. One of the most important shrines in the Shinto religion. The class had to climb up 12,000 steps to reach the shrine. Tomoe told them, "we're only taking one break and that's at the halfway point. This is to train your stamina." and it felt as if it was hell. Tomoe lifted their ease a bit by carrying all their bags. But, it had make him look like even more of a monster.
He was carrying the bags of 22 separate people -including himself-, all with varying weights and walked up thousands of steps without feeling out of breath once. Since they weren't carrying much, it was a lot easier to walk up. But at the same time, the intimidation they felt seeing their teacher carry all that was very depressing.

Eventually, they had reached the top. Everyone sat on a seat ouf of exhaustion and took a 10-minute break. It was pretty relaxing. Being next to the forest. Seeing the various fox statues and everything down below. There were some shrine maidens walking around, and they even served drinks. A shrine priest was there too. Although, he was meditating next to the offering box. After 12-minutes, Tomoe got out of his seat and walked up to the shrine priest. He put some money inside as offerings, bowed twice, clapped twice, and said, "I wish...to see Sir Dout ver F-" before Tomoe was able to finish his sentence, him and his students were thrown down all the way back to the first step of the shrine. When they looked up, the sky wasn't blue.

  "Ow...Where am I?" asked Hans.

  "We've entered his territory."

  "'his?" asked Yuuki

"Wrath. Now that we're here, we can properly kill him."

  "How did we..." asked Nagisa.

"There're only 2 ways to go into their territory. Have a Taize permission, or a permission from the Royal Family. It seems I surprised him enough to send us here. Now, we've only done test battles so let's find some monsters to fight against as a warmup. If I remember correctly, they're called 'Yokai' here, right?"

"Umm, yeah." They all eventually got up on their feet and started walking around. The place looked even more ancient. With candles lighting up the places. It was as if they were walking through the aftermath of The Great Kanto Earthquake if it hit Kyoto instead. Through the fires, there was a burnt paper umbrella. It was large and opened. Quite a few of them were strewn around.

They then decided to walk around in their groups. Feta went into one of the houses and found a few pairs of broken sandals made out of straw at the entrance. She went further in with Junes and Hani. They found a mirror that was intact but stained. Kimono robes that were left out to dry in a weirdly good state. And a tea kettle that was boiling water, but all of the water had already spilt.
Kyoji's group went to a riverbed. They saw a several shards of broken ceramic floating by. Fish had even been stabbed by it. I don't need to say it, but all the fish in there were dead. Probably shouldn't eat it either. A kimono was also floating by. It was soaked but relatively clean. They saw a bowl with moss around it floating alongside the kimono. The water inside of the bowl was completely different. The river was muddied, bloodied and extremely hot due to the fire but, the water inside of the bowl seemed like fresh, filtered, drinkable water. They weren't sure on whether or not it was safe to test it so Kyoji and Hans went to go get Tomoe while Vocs and Monz kept an eye on it so it wouldn't float away.
As for the rest, well, they found relatively the same things. Though, Tomoe was a bit busy. As he had found a very, very happy mask salesman.
