As soon as they started moving, Seraphina held onto the neck of the black stallion gently. Her eyes tried to take in as much as possible of the angelic city before her. She still couldn't believe her father allowed her to make this trip, she thought it was selfish to ask for something. But now, she was brimming with excitement and curiosity for the world she has yet to discover. No matter how many books she read in secret without Uriel and even Michael knowing, it never had been enough to satisfy her thirst for the unknown. Her heart strived to discover more and more, to live to the fullest, and make the world a better place for everyone. Maybe that was a foolish mindset, but this was her dream.
Smiling to herself, the tiny angel nuzzled more into the fur of Nocte. Her big eyes stared at the mix of modern yet classic architecture they passed by. The way the buildings of the angelic city had been built along with the high flair of elegance visible within the structure, she could see the purpose in every little detail.
Her smile grew to a precious extent as she glanced to the crowd of people they marched by, her eyes filling with awe at the diversity of the angelic folk. From light to dark skin, red to blonde hair, bright eyes, and beautifully colored wings, the sheer bright colorful crowd filled her with a feeling she had never felt before.
Seraphina's senses were tingling from all sorts of unfamiliar noises, from children's laughter to the soft chiming singing of peace and the gentle chatting of people. Scents of unique nature filled her nose and lured her into a stunned state, from freshly baked goods to the slight perfume of women, the hustling of the city was accompanied with far more than what the eye could see.
'Amazing…' The small princess thought in complete astonishment, never having felt so alive before from the sheer positive energy this place was radiating with.
Michael glanced down at his daughter as a very soft smile spread on his lips at her awed state. He reached out and very carefully petted her head before focusing on guiding Nocte down the main street. The horse skillfully avoided the angels walking and flying with no effort at all as it proudly marched forward. Like usual, however, the crowd didn't take long to notice their King was traveling amongst them.
"Look it's his Majesty!"
"What- Where?!"
"It's King Michael and his daughter!"
"The princess?! Where? I want to see her!!"
"Ahh! Oh my gosh, she is so tiny!"
"What? Let me see too!"
And just like that, the peaceful, busy atmosphere was disturbed as the angels started crowding around them. All of them wanted to get a glance at their Princess since this was the first time they ever had the chance to look at her.
Michael's smile dropped as soon as it had appeared, now displaying his usual stony look of indifference again. He ignored the mildly annoying crowd as he made Nocte speed up more. He had hoped this wouldn't happen but it would have been a miracle if no one noticed them.. 'The burden of royalty…huh?' He thought grimly and glanced down at his daughter in slight concern.
The sudden change of atmosphere startled Seraphina. She was more than a little surprised at the crowd’s sudden exclamation. When they started closing in on them, the princess felt mildly uncomfortable and embarrassed. She clung more tightly to Nocte as she tried to ignore the shouts of their people.
"Ahhh! Astria bless us! Her Grace is too cute!"
"The Heaven's really blessed us with a beautiful princess!"
"Her Grace looks so different to his Majesty, but she's incredibly adorable! She will be a sight to see when she's grown up!"
The crowd awed as the turmoil caused more and more spectators to try to get a look at Seraphina.
The small princess however wasn't sure how to take these compliments and shouts of the crowd, blushing in embarrassment as she hid her face in Nocte's neck.
Michael couldn't help but chuckle slightly at that, for a moment smirking in amusement as he shook his head. "No need to be shy, Sera. These are our people we are ruling over. Hold your head high and proud." He whispered to her as he gave Nocte the cue to gallop before the crowd could close in on them.
Seraphina bit on her lip at her father's words. Her small shoulders tensed in nervousness before she took a deep breath and lifted her head. Although her cheeks were still flushed lightly, she tried her best not to show her embarrassment. After thinking about it for a moment, she turned to the crowd and smiled cutely before waving lightly. That action caused the noise of the crowd to die down in surprise before the angels broke out in loud cheers. Praises and worship for the royal family filled the air loudly, the atmosphere loud yet happy like a whirlwind of fresh air.
However, not everyone was glad about the crowd's worship, as a small group of people were rather irritated about the unnecessary turmoil.
"Tch. How annoying." A man rolled his eyes as he watched the crowd freak out over their "new cute princess" through the windows of their shop. He turned to glance at the gathered people behind him with an angry frown. "How stupid are they to blindly follow Michael no matter what he does?"
"Don't ask me." The red-haired woman replied shortly as she snipped some ashes of her cigarette onto the ground. "The so-called "royal family" are just pawns of the gods either way. They are just too blind to realize it."
"No. They know but believe in this "system". That's where the fault lies." A blonde-haired young man stated as he entered the shop.
"Soriel! Where have you been?" The woman asked him in annoyance, only to get an indifferent shrug out of the blonde.
"Nowhere important, Lilith. All that aside, I think it's time to put our plans in motion. We angels have suffered from the gods for far too long. And now it's time to put it to a stop!" He grumbled angrily, glancing back outside as his hard, icy gaze focused on the tiny princess. "The first step to everything will be to weaken Michael…”
“The royal family must fall at all costs,” Soriel spoke through gritted teeth, his fist clenched tightly by his side. “Set the plan in action!”
“Yes, Leader!!” Everyone shouted in determination as they got moving again.
The blonde leader glanced back out of the window again, his gaze focusing on the disappearing figure of Seraphina. Suddenly, a wide creepy grin spread on his lips as he started scratching his arm aggressively. ‘Just wait for me… Seraphina~’ A crazed chuckle escaped him as his eyes glowed red for a moment. ‘It's almost time to get you~’
