He reached over the centre console and intertwined his fingers with Alex's giving him hand a reassuring squeeze.

Alex shot him a grateful smile and the rest of the drive passed oin peace, the two keeping their hands entwined between them.

Alex was still taken aback when he saw the pack house, he couldn't get over how big it was.

Riley's dad stood on the steps, obviously waiting for the pair.

He walked down the stairs as the two guys extracted themselves from the car.

Riley's dad pulled them both into a hug, before sniffing, noticing that something was a little different between the two mates.

"I was going to ask how everything was going down at the cabing but, the fact that you both have each others scents on your clothes, i guess i don't need to." He chuckled.

Alex flushed crimson in embarassment while Riley groaned, "Dad, stop being so weird will you."

The alpha stood upright, a smile on his face, "Truthfully though, i'm glad things are going well for you both, i always hoped Riley would find a mate he was happy with, and i'm glad he found you, Alex. I want to thank you for making my son happy."

Alex nodded, still too embarrassed for words.

Clearing his throat Riley's dad slipped into alpha mode, "okay serious time, i asked you to come because it's time to explain werewolf hierarchy, where you're going to fit in and a few things that you'll need to know about werewolves that are different from humans, especially when it comes to werewolf relationships and mating."

He led the two to his study and took a seat behind his desk while the two boys settled into the chairs in front of him.

"As you know, at the top of the chain is the alpha, in this pack that's me. The alpha's mate gets the title of luna, they are the secondary leaders in the case that the unthinkable happens to the alpha. do you follow so far?" the aplha said.

The two nodded, Riley looking rather bored as he already knew all of this, but it was new knowledge for Alex who was raised in the human world instead of within a pack.

"good, after the alpha and luna is the beta and their mate gets the title of delta, the beta takes charge in the case that the alpha and luna need to leave the territory for any length of time, the delta takes on the luna role while they are gone."

Alex nodded his understanding before glancing over at Riley who was suddenly paying attention, a small look of anxiety on his face at what was coming next, he already knew but wasn't sure how Alex would take the next bit of info the alpha was going to explain.

"Finally we have Omega's, they lead werewolves in battle, essentially making them a kind of battlefield commander. Omega's are slightly different than regular werewolves though." the alpha paused for a moment, making sure that the two were payng attention.

Alex was listening absorbing what the alpha was saying, commiting it to memory.

Riley was fidgeting in his chair, unable to contain the nerves eating away at him.

Alex noticed this and reached over and gave Riley's hand a reassuring squeeze, prompting a grateful look from the other boy.

The alpha watched their wordless conversation, a look of joy on his face, joy that they had come to understand one another enough to know what the other was thinking just from a look and joy that the two mates were comfortable enough with their relationship to openly share small moments of intimacy.

The alpha cleared his throat drawing attenton back to himself, "This is where it's going to get difficult for you to understand Alex, werewolf anatomy is vastly different from human anatomy is so that should make things a little easier to accept. In werewolf society the most fertile wolves are omega's, they are easily impregnated but they are sworn to their mate from the moment the bond begins, meaning that once the bond starts developing it is impossible for them to have children with anybody other than their mate, accidental pregnancies do occur in omega's when the omega is yet to meet their mate due to their heat cycle. When in the midst of heat the omega releases a pheromone into the air, telling nearby wolves that they are in heat and are at the height of their fertility. The pheromone can drive nearby wolves into rut, making this an incredibly dangerous time for omega's."

The alpha let his words sink in for a moment before continuing.

"During their heat we have to take omega's without a mate to a reinforced cabin deeper in the forest to prevent them from breeding with wolves with no mate. It's a sad thing to have to do but the pheromone's releases cause the wolf's instincts to breed to be kicked into overdrive, meaning that it is impossible to stop them from jumping on the omega. We do all we can to protect the omega's in this pack from this but this is the only way."

Alex was shocked upon learning of the things that omega's had to go through.

But i'm part Omega, so does that mean...

The alpha saw the question and worry in Alex's eyes, "Due to your alpha blood, you need  not worry about this, The alpha blood is stronger than the omega so you won't go into heat properly until you finally mate properly, but there is one thing that you need to know. Your relationship is as yet incomplete, every alpha has an omega mate, you are both alpha's meaning that somewhere out there is yet another soulmate for you both, i'm planning on hosting a party soon with the goal of helping you both find your omega."

Riley was resigned to this while Alex was reeling in his seat, he had another mate, not just Riley.

In human society where he was raised polygamy was highly frowned upon, but in werewolf society it was a common occurance.

The alpha pondered for a moment before sighing, "there is one more thing that you have to know, this is the last thing for today, i'll give you time to process al this afterwards."

Alex nodded dumbly.

"remember i said that omega's are highly fertile and easily impregnated? that goes for both genders. Omega's are unique in that both males and females can carry and conceive children. The males are also born with a womb and everything required for creating new life."

This snippet of information pushed Alex over the edge.

Overwhelmed he began to panic, darkness swimming on the edge of his vision, Riley squeezed his hand, grounding him.

"Breathe with me, deep breaths, in and out, in and out."

Alex's breathing finally calmed, but the shock of the information was still fresh in his mind.

"Take him home, make sure he gets some rest, this is a lot to process for someone raised in human society."

Riley nodded somberly and helped Alex out to the car, he fished the keys from Alex's pocket and helped him climb into the passenger seat.

Riley jumped into the driver seat and started the car, taking a moment to gather his thoughts.

"You okay?" He asked, concern obvious in his voice.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Alex croaked.

"I didn't know how to, i didn't want to say or do anything to drive us apart, not just as we're finally coming together." Riley replied apologetically, tears beginning to form in his eyes.

He probably hates me now, he thought.

Alex surprised him by pulling him into a hug, "I know what you're thinking and i could never hate you."

Riley sobbed into Alex's shoulder for a moent before finally managing to compose himself.

"Thank you, i don't know what i would do if you hated me, i never want to imagine us being apart. i care about you too much." He managed to stutter out between sobs.

Alex smiled and shook his head.

When Riley finally calmed down they drove home, the silence between them not uncomfortable but more content.
