The Draconem Wars - A sparkle of fire and flame

Chapter 4 - The Black Cargo

Chapter 4 - The Black Cargo

Mar 05, 2021

Jackson leads the escape with Lucas and the prized black crate clenched tightly by his side; while the remainder of his ambush squad followed hastily from behind in their shiny red corvettes, the only revolting sight is the bullet ridden holes filled with them.
Only four of the speedy demons remained for now as the others have been completely destroyed by Kanos Tarragons. Since they were driving in the opposite direction, the drivers were struggling strenuously to avoid the onrushing traffic and also the oncoming barrage of artillery from the Tarragons giving chase above them.
Given with the utmost importance to retrieve the stolen cargo from the rebels, the Tarragon riders fired their R37 cannons indiscriminately as a few innocent motorists got caught in their blitz below. With amateur's luck, the Tarragons succeeded in destroying two of the tailing corvettes; while the last two managed to swivel down an intersection tunnel ahead of them just in time before one of the stray shell hits the entrance of the tunnel, forcing a part of it to collapse and seal it shut with rubble. Dismayed on their possible failure, the riders quickly radio back to their command center, announcing that the rebels are still on the loose inside the tunnel as their wyverns snorted as if in agreement with wisps of heavy breath trailing from their nostrils as their oversized wings flapped lazily in the air.
A man responded back that doesn't sound very happy at all. General Tungsken is a stern leader without remorse for incompetency and pesky behavior from his men. He will not hesitate to punish them for insubordination; usually with a heavy sentence. Being at 6 feet tall, has a rugged beard and assuming in his late fifties; he commanded the Tarragon riders, authoritatively.
"We will set up a barricade on the opposite end. Make sure you are there to lend fire support to our team."
        "Roger that General."
The riders acknowledge in unison once again as they whipped their wyverns desperately in an attempt to make haste to the opposite end of the tunnel.

Meanwhile inside the underground tunnel, there were lesser traffic now and the remaining corvettes are able to maneuver with ease. They continue on cautiously until they counted the 3rd road sign of '90 KM/H', where they immediately pulled over to the emergency lane while speeding angry motorist blare their horns at them over and over again, since they were still in the wrong direction of the freeway. The rebels, oblivious to the commotion, stepped out of their glossy bullet ridden corvettes and make haste to the service exit on the opposite wall. As they do so, surveillance cameras on the ceiling caught them fleeing as it relay the live feed back to the command center.
"They are escaping through the service tunnels" General Tungsken shouted angrily.
"Get The Enforcers on the move...quickly!"
A nearby operator at the command console acknowledges as he hastily punches on a few key strokes on the keyboard.
Before long, the Enforcers at the opposite end of the tunnel were alerted of the rebel’s flight as they dash into the tunnel on their speedy sidewinders, which resembles like a hovering skate craft.

After walking for a short distance, the rebels managed to find a door at the end of the service tunnel and gives a crescendo knock three times in succession. The door unlocks itself warily and the rebels are relieved to see familiar faces through the other side of the door. Six heavily armed men waved at Jackson and his team.
"It's good to see you again Brandon." Jackson proclaims.
"Likewise General. But so few of you only made it. Where are the rest?"
Lucas shakes his head; Brandon understood immediately what that meant.
"Well let’s not waste any more time, the Enforcers are on their way."
"Well...lead the way gentlemen." Jackson replied.
As the rebels walked through the muddy cavernous secret passage, it leads them eventually to a huge subterranean lake which was completely isolated from the inside. A small yellow submarine suddenly emerged to the rebels’ surprise.
"So this is our one way ticket out?" Jackson asked.
        "It certainly is." Brandon replied.
"Very crafty indeed! Drinks on me tonight guys."
The men cheered as they make their descent carefully on the slippery slope leading to the opened hatch on the submarine conning tower. Unconcerned with the wound on his shoulder, Lucas lowered the stolen cargo through the conning tower as the men below stow it carefully. Jackson noticed the wound, he felt concerned.
        "How's the shoulder son?"
"I will be fine dad...it's just a flesh wound." Lucas grimaced as his father took a closer look at it.
"You better get it treated son...I don't want to lose another soldier today."
As the hatch closes, without further delay, the submarine swiftly disappeared through the black waters as if it were never there before. Dead silence engulfed the huge cavern once again and shortly afterwards, the Enforcers arrived at the scene; puzzled at the sudden disappearance of the rebels, one of them radioed back to base.
        "The rebels are gone Sir."

Katrina and Colonel Ajax along with the survivors were escorted again in another convoy of black SUV's, but this time with heavier escorts and more tarragons encircling above them. The convoy arrived shortly at Kanos central command; a huge and tall skyscraper with 267 floors of black concrete, steel and windows; it stood menacingly - towering above all neighboring buildings since it’s the tallest skyscraper in the capital city of Vintorch. At the top of the structure, which houses a huge platform, Tarragons are leashed and secured; always ready for action whenever they are called for.
As Katrina ascends to the highest floor with Colonel Ajax on a private elevator used only by high ranking officers, she could see the secretive science and weapons division located on the 198th floor through the large elevator windows. She noticed a large number of scientists seemed to be working on some sort of a new secret prototype weapon so huge; it takes on the size of an airplane fuselage. Ajax picked up her gaze, always eyeing on her closely at all times. She wondered whether he even fantasized on her in bed with him. She quickly shook off the disgusting image over her head.
"Ahh...the Vector science and weapons division. I heard they have made an astounding discovery lately."
"Which is?" Katrina asked with keen curiosity.
"I think we are about to find out. But I guess you are right. Kato is certainly upset for now."
They arrived shortly at the top floor. Heavily armed sentries stood guard on the heavy double doors as Katrina and Ajax make their way to Kato's private quarters. Three black dimobots can be seen at the corner, eyeing on the new visitors suspiciously with large blasters slinging on their inorganic shoulders. Entering the meeting room, they are startled to see many men were already seated before them over a large oval table with two conspicuous dismembered heads kept in two large jars filled with crystal clear water on purpose and laid within the center of the table. They looked obviously tormented with fresh blood still seeping out from their mouths.
The men watched with discomforting disgust as Katrina and the Colonel took their seats; clearly annoyed with the unfolding atrocity. Without warning - Kato stood up and slam both his fists on the table as some of the men are clearly stunned with his outrage, but Katrina is not - who is already used with her supreme commander's temperament.
"These are men who have failed to accomplish a simple mission. A simple mission!”
"Therefore I'll like to remind you all...that I do not tolerate incompetence, especially when I have given you...A SIMPLE COMMAND!" shouted Kato Domine who is obviously still very upset with the failed Tarragon riders on their earlier recovery mission. Sensing the fear that he has just incited on his men, he beckons slightly to the nearby sentries to remove the jar of heads.
There Kato stood - just an arm's length from Katrina, the one who murdered her mother, 10 years ago. He stood menacingly tall and sturdy as he wore a black cape and dressed dashingly in a red uniform with the insignia as ruler clearly visible on his chest. Katrina contemplated for a moment to draw out her desert eagles and just end his life right there, right now, but the presence of the four sentries plus the dimobots standing guard at each corner; poised to strike at any perceived threat - she thought the better out of it and decided to wait for another opportunity as it will be very unwise for her suicidal attempt. She snapped out of her trance as Kato resumes his rage.
"Now can somebody in this room...kindly explain to me explicitly...what has gone wrong?"
General Tungsken gulps as he reluctantly replies.
"It was a very well planned ambush Sir. We couldn't stop them in time."
"Couldn't stop them in time? They are just within miles away from us. Tell me general, why can't we stop them in time?"
"I guess we could have done more better."
"Exactly! The answer that I would like to hear."
Kato suddenly draws his handgun, a FK BRNO 7.5FK badass and pressed the gun barrel firmly on Tungsken's forehead. He pulls the trigger as Tungsken slumps to the ground with a shocked expression still portrayed on his face. Blood and pieces of Tungsken's brains splatters on the large oval table as some of the men can be seen sweating on their eyebrows - trying their best to look unnerved. Kato again beckons to the same sentries to remove the lifeless body while he gracefully wipes off the blood from his pistol barrel with a black handkerchief. He blows the smoke off the tip casually before holstering the devastating pistol on the side of his hips. His eyes locks on at the adjacent general who sat beside the vacant seat of Tungsken.
"General Norton Hendricks...I heard believe your reputation precedes you."
"Your order is my command...supreme commander" General Norto replied seemingly cautiously but confidently.
"Excellent! You may relieve Tungsken of his command...I am entrusting my men to you now."
"I will serve diligently my lord." Answered General Norton as he bows before his master.
Kato seems satisfied as he stared intently to those who are seated before him.
"Very well then...let's get back to business, shall we?"
He pushed a button on a remote and a concealed display screen unfolds from the ceiling and lights up the large meeting room...and then a sophisticated device with detailed descriptions fills up the translucent monitor screen.
"Professor Henry...could you care to explain what was taken from us this morning."
"Certainly." Henry responded with a polite cough as he adjusted his over-sized spectacles.
"As some of you may come to know...what we have in here is a neuron transponder. It is capable of mind controlling the Titanoks...the largest winged species here on Andonia." Henry hinted at the display as it switches to the image of a Titanok that looks like two times the size of a blue whale.
The attendees suddenly gasped in amazement.
"How is that possible? The Titanoks are the most ferocious of the draconems, we have failed to tame them before...furthermore they are difficult to be tracked." objects General Daveal.
"As you said General Daveal...that was before. My associates back on earth in Avalast have found their exact neural patterns after studying them for decades and therefore we have perfected the design from our previous prototypes. We have tested it before on a Titanok specimen shipped to earth earlier. I can honestly conclude that our success rate was 99 percent. Also we have located a possible breeding spot where the Titanoks can be found here right on Andonia."
"The Titanoks are truly a superior breed...if we can control them...we could easily overcome the rebels and I swear that they will never set foot again a thousand klicks from our city walls." repeated Ajax on an earlier quote.
"You have your point Colonel Ajax, but the rebels...I despise them overwhelmingly. Every time we inflicted great pain upon them...they just never cease to demise altogether." General Zaila interjects.
"And they are always one step ahead of us in every plan that we have ever executed!" joins in General Hitesh
"Perhaps I shall take care of the rebels once and for all." Katrina volunteered.
Suddenly the whole room felt silent.
"After all that’s why I am sent over here isn't it?"
The generals scrutinize Katrina critically from top to bottom - especially on her large protruding breasts.
"Do you think you could succeed in killing them?" questioned General William.
"General William...killing rebels are my specialty."
After a deep thought, the supreme commander finally announce:
"Very well then...I will assign Katrina to lead on the recovery mission. I believe it has a tracking device on it...is that correct Henry?" Kato asked inquisitively.
"Yes...my lord, we know exactly where it is located right now even as we speak."
"Good! I know I can count on you."
Kato turned over and stared intently at Katrina.
"Give them no mercy Katrina, I want absolute annihilation of the rebels."
Katrina bowed in compliance as the meeting comes to an abrupt end.
