There, Dallus and Liriak placed their hands on the back of each other's neck, and in an act of affection, they closed their eyes. With the first stage of the ceremony complete, they brought their foreheads together, holding that intimate moment in the present as if they had just chosen to endure forever in the sweet tenderness of their intertwined souls.
Qurnuk looked back at that distant pair.
"They're... connecting," the black-winged moth-boy said hesitantly.
"Connecting?" Wokor expressed his doubtful look.
"Yes. Do you get it?”
Wokor looked as if he would not understand anytime soon, and Qurnuk knew instantly that he should rephrase what he just said.
Thinking about it, the black-winged moth-boy had an idea.
"Here," Qurnuk guided his hand forward to the back of Wokor's neck. "Let me show-"
Wokor dodged Qurnuk's bond immediately, and soon the archer opened his eyes wide as he gasped. He appeared to just have seen a ghost.
That sensation of almost being touched awoke an enormous fear within Wokor's heart, promptly reminding that fateful moment of his so painful rite of passage.
The High Priestess' smile infected his mind at that moment, making his eyes tremble with the trauma he experienced.
Qurnuk sketched a certain sadness at the reaction of the archer, imagining that he was still feeding certain demons in his mind. Recognizing his colleague's agitation, he realized that he should be more cautious.
At that moment, the black-winged moth-boy closed his eyes, making his arm go down so that only his face would be inclined forward to Wokor.
"I'm not going to hurt you," Qurnuk said, offering his forehead to the archer. "Trust me. Let me show you what it feels like."
Wokor's heart was still agitated, taking some time to recover from that abrupt scene. However, seeing that Qurnuk submitted to keeping his eyes closed - so vulnerable in front of the new member of the squadron - was beginning to give a slight sense of calmness to the promising young man.
Wokor could analyze his colleague's triangular face, his pale skin, and his hair delicately tied in the most beautiful ponytail he had ever seen. The black-winged moth-boy's lips sighed a little bit at that moment, managing to give a much more attractive look to Qurnuk's face.
The young archer let himself be filled with the fascination of that completely unknown contact that his colleague wanted to make, and as he swallowed hard, Wokor closed his eyes.
There, the archer's lips trembled as he approached Qurnuk's face. That sensation scared him as much as it made him anxious, and it only woke up a nervousness that had never manifested itself on him.
Until their foreheads connected; the sweet and gentle touch of Qurnuk's fingers touched the back of Wokor's neck next, and this caused a completely different reaction than the archer had imagined.
Wokor was reassured by the delicacy that the black-winged moth-boy's skin gave to his touch, and without understanding the reason behind it, the archer simply gave himself up to the kindness of that moment.
With their heads gently united in that moonlight filled with magic and secrets, Qurnuk and Wokor experienced a truly unique link within Nathroryos' history.
With totally different personalities - one capable of moving mountains and the other able to freeze waterfalls - the two moth-boys found comfort so attractive there that they did not care to let time pass.
Like Dallus and Liriak, Wokor and Qurnuk prayed - constantly and in silence - for another second of that magnificent cosmic ritual that they would never forget.
"See?" Qurnuk said with a silly smile on his face. "Like two halves of the Moon."
His feats had reached the High Priestess' ears and his ascension ceremony welcomed him with open arms.
Assigned to the strongest squad of Nathroryos, Wokor will attempt to prove his worth as a true hunter of monsters and heretics in the name of the Lunar Doctrine.
Along with Dallus, Liriak, and Qurnuk, the archer will experience a vast number of incredible events, awaken frozen feelings from inside his cold heart, and conquer his space in the existence among many intertwined fates of Gaeath's world.
