We all sat down in my living room and awkwardly stared at each other.
“Do you mind telling me what is going on, now?” Jaclyn spoke up. I nodded and took Perseus on the table.
“What's that?” Jaclyn asked, staring at it.
“Perseus.” I muttered.
“Is that a perfume brand?”
"Not exactly. 5 nights ago, I had unfortunately passed away-” I started.
"What?” Jaclyn scoffed.
"Let me finish. I got shot but for some reason my great grandmother had revived me with Perseus, this perfume. Before the resurrection I used to be Mina but now I'm this man. This perfume can not only revive you but also change your gender. She gave me this bottle and now I can revive people, whenever I want.” I explained.
“So you're Mina? That makes no sense!”
“It doesn't, does it? Believe me, I couldn't believe it either when-” Jay started.
"Shut up Kayla, you don't even know what you're saying!”
Jay bit his lip and looked at me. I sighed.
"Whatever, I don't care if you believe us or not. What I want to know is how you got into my house-”
“Mina's house.” she corrected me.
“MY HOUSE. Why you are in my house. How you are related to Jay- I mean Kayla and how you know me... na”
“Fine. Kayla was my best friend. We had been bestfriends since elementary school. Unfortunately, a week ago… she went missing. The police were looking everywhere for her, but she was nowhere to be found. I was also trying my best to look for her but, no luck. I'm actually just a fan of Mina.”
“A fan? I have fans?” I asked, surprised.
“Yes… You have like a whole fan club. Wait, no! You don’t have fans, Mina does. This is how you manipulated Kayla into thinking she is this weirdo named Jay and that she got revived with a perfume!”
I rolled my eyes, “I did not manipulate anyone!”
“And I'm not a weirdo!” Jay chimed in.
“Sure, sure. Anyways, I found out that Mina was living close to me a week ago, and I'm like one of her biggest fans! So, everyday, I would try and bump into her so I could meet her. I figured out what time she left the house to and when she came back. The first two days I was too late so I waited again but I never saw Mina again, instead I kept seeing you coming in and out of Mina's house,” she explained pointing at me. “So, of course, I did the obvious and started investigating who you were. I thought you were her boyfriend but as days went by and I could never see Mina, I thought differently. Today I was taking a walk with my dog and my dog decided to run off somewhere after finishing his pee. I ran after him and he led me to you and Kayla, talking to each other. I was shocked and started calling Kayla's name but you guys didn't hear me so I ran to Mina's house. Broke in. And waited till you guys came back home. Only when I was hiding in Mina's bedroom that I thought that this was a terrible idea.”
“So you broke into my house?” I muttered.
“Yes… no I broke into Mina’s house!”
“Oh my gosh…” Jay grunted.
“Wait… do you think you can maybe help us?” I asked.
“Help? YOU?! Absolutely not. Kayla you're coming with me. I will help you gain your memories back. I don't know what this kidnapper had done to you but I will have to… fix you!”
“Right, let's make a deal.” I said.
“A deal?” Jaclyn repeated.
“If you help us for… 12 months. I will return Kayla back to you…”
“What?” Jay exclaimed. I looked at Jay and gave him a reassuring look.
“8 months." Jaclyn said.
“10 months.” I said
“6 months”
“9 months and that's final.” I said.
“Fine 9 months, then Kayla will return to me.”
“Wait a damn minute. Does no one care about my opinion. I have not agreed to this.”
“Shut up Kayla.”
“Shut up Jay” Me and Jaclyn said at the same time. Jay sighed and slumped back on the couch, crossing his arms.
“So… what do you need help with?” she asked. I smiled and crossed my legs.
