A Little Fun
Kaya held her cards close to her face, hiding them from her opponent, and covering her face. She wasn’t gonna let Carrion get any hint from her. He was a master at this game after all, he already beat her 6 times. But not this time, this time she would win, and victory would be sweet.
“Kaya…” Carrion spoke her name slowly. “It’s time.”
Kaya nodded her agreement. It is time.
“Carrion,” She spoke his name slowly too. “Do you have a six?”
“Go fish.”
Damn, she must go fish again.
“Do you have a six?” Carrion asked.
Kaya looked to his single card in his hand, and with a heavy heart, handed him her six.
“And that’s another win.” Carrion laughed.
“I do not like this game.” Kaya pouted.
Carrion chuckled “Well you asked to play it again.”
“Before I truly understood how unfair it was! I do not know how your people tolerate this game.”
“Me too.”
Kaya looked to Carrion, he looked a lot different than when she first found him. He had looked red, sickly, and much thinner than his now healthy and slightly muscular frame. He had shaved what facial hair he had, showing his freckles that were previously hidden, his brown hair had been cut rather short to clean it up. And his hazel eyes that previously showed no life now looked full of it. He was healing, he could walk now and was eating meals for three. She was happy to see it.
“I am going to cook food now, you stay here and clean up the game.” Kaya said as she stood up.
“Sure. Oh, and Kaya?” He asked after her.
“Yes?”
“Thank you, for everything.”
“You’re welcome, Carrion.”
