"I'm alright. Is there something you need?" asked Tomoe to the happy mask salesman.
"Oh no, nothing too important. I would just like to ask if you needed a mask."
"...What types do you have?"
"In all colours and sizes. What kind are you looking for?"
"Something...that can hide my entire face without looking too...strange."
"Ah, you want something discreet, correct? What about..." He reached into his large backpack and pulled out a pretty small mask. It could be kept in your pocket and could be lost very easily. Exactly what Tomoe wanted.
"How much?"
"Hmm. Well, if you were to take these other beauties off my hands, I would give it completely for free!"
"Oh? Is something wrong with them?"
"Not necessarily something..." Tomoe immediately took out his scythe and slashed at the salesman. It wasn't very effective. The masks came flying out of his bag and protected him. They all flew at Tomoe, acting as tiny blades gliding across his skin at lightning speeds. When Tomoe slashes again, it didn't do anything except push them back. He was wondering what to do. 'till he saw the happy mask salesman never-ending smile, had faded. Tomoe lunged at the bag, and started using it as a bug net for the masks. It worked surprisingly well. Tomoe then burned the bag and since the masks were trapped, they burned with it. Tomoe saw Kyoji and Hans running to him. It may had just been a gut feeling, but he felt as though something absolutely terrible was about to happen
Meanwhile, Vocs was watching the bowl, which got stuck against a piece of rubble. Monz really wanted to go into the water, but didn't feel like boiling to death so he was unhappy. He just threw things into the river.
It had been about 5 minutes since the 2 had left. Vocs and Monz were super bored so they tried bringing the bowl to land. At first, they were unsuccessful with their attempts. Trying things like branches or pushing the piece of rubble. Vocs got on top of the rubble and tried to fetch the bowl that way. She had to be extremely careful not to fall into the water, otherwise she'd risk death.
When her hand touched the bowl, a dirty, green, webbed hand came out of the water and grabbed her arm. It then pulled her in and spat some boiling water at Monz. It had missed but Monz didn't even notice. He started throwing anything that was near him at the river, hoping to hit the bowl-monster.
He had already gave up on Vocs. He thought she already did. However, Tomoe ran up to the surface of the water and put his hand in. All the water then got thrown onto the otherside of the river. With Vocs and the bowl-monster -which was a green, human-like being with webbed hands and feet. And a turtle-like shell on its back-, still alive.
Tomoe took out his notebook and read, "Kappa. A creature from Japanese mythology known for kidnapping children and women for...special purposes. If it was you, Monz, he'd likely leave you to die. Looks like he wanted to bring her back to wherever his home is.
"S-seriously? I..."
"It's fine, you didn't know. However, you should worry about the problem, before worrying about the outcome. You do have a water affinity, right?"
"...Yes."
"Well, this is a lesson to learn from. Your punishment is to save your sister. You may kill it, or spare it. It's up to you. I'm unsure whether it is a Rign or not, so you may be killing it forever. Keep that in mind when making your decision." Tomoe then left to go check on the other students.
