The day began like any other. The first signs of morning gently pierce through the thin light purple curtains blocking out the rest of the world as they stand guard. The sunlight softly brightens the room revealing more of its character. The pale pink colored walls become more alive with the touch of light. The bed with coverings matching both the wall and curtains become more vibrant as their inhabitant remains dormant in peaceful slumber. Usually the alarm on the small clock resting on the pearl white nightstand would go off, alerting our bed's guest of the time and that they should wake up. Luckily for her it was not one of those times. Today was Hitsuni's first day of summer vacation, escaping those long hours of learning at Matasu Academy, which is nearly no different than the normal high school.
Hitsuni Mari, seventeen years old, lays in bed. Her long strawberry red hair is messy from tossing and turning during the night. Her emerald green eyes are hidden behind the safety of her eyelids. The sunlight slightly touches her fair skin. She rests peacefully without worry.
"Hitsuni, it's time to wake up!" a voice echoes through Hitsuni's room waking her up in a near instant.
She opens her eyes slowly, then stretches out her arms shaking off the sleep. She sits up finally getting herself up out of bed.
"Hitsuni, hope you're awake, breakfast is almost ready!" the voices shouted again to her.
"I just woke up, I'll be down in a minute!" Hitsuni replies back. The first thing she did after getting out of bed was fixing the covers and pillow, making the bed look nice and neat. She then walked over to the curtain covered window, pulling aside the curtains to get a look at the new day. The sun was bright and with the view from the second floor where her room is, she can see her father's backyard garden of flowers as well the stone path leading to a simple bench where they would sit for hours some nights together and talk. She smiles as she thinks back to these moments. She looks past the beauty of the garden, seeing birds flying together, the beautiful green leaves on the trees, people walking in the distance, and just seeing the beauty of life playing out right before her. She stays as she is for another moment before snapping out of her trance. She moves away from her window and makes her way to her bedroom door, leaving her room where she now stands in the small hallway. Across from her room was another white door like her own; where the room is being used as storage for different supplies and things like holiday decorations.
Her room is the farthest from the stairs at the end of the hall. Her father's bedroom was closest while across from his bedroom was the guest room. The peach orange painted walls looked to be more lively today. Hitsuni walked over to the stairs and walked down them. The smooth wooden texture was gentle to the touch. She reached the bottom where a large mirror stands tall. She looked at her reflection. Her hair still messy, her emerald eyes full of life, and she wore pajamas that had little llamas on them. She looked up where in painted black letters read, "You're Never Alone, Remember Those That Stand With You".
She looked back into the mirror looking at her reflection once more but she now wears a gentle smile. She remembers when her father told her why he put up this mirror. It was so that every time we look upon it, we can remember that the people that we love and that love us either here or those long gone walk with us in our hearts, and because of that we can never forget the good in ourselves even when it seems there is nothing to fight for.
She stands there for a moment longer before walking away. She walks through her house, heading for the kitchen where breakfast waits for her. She takes a moment and walks through another small hallway that leads to a large room where her father does his work. She takes a quick peek through the slightly opened door. Monitors, drawing tablets and other digital supplies sit upon the tabletops. With them are comfortable chairs that are used when his team arrives. Slightly away from them, is her father's desk, where he works on his projects and leads his team. Hitsuni was always impressed with her father's ability to create manga as he had throughout the years, and to be as successful as he is. However, she always found more impressive was his ability to lead his team and always see everyone so happy. To her, they were family.
She fixed the door to where it was and went to the kitchen where she heard humming and smelled the food that was made.
