One man, With features I could not see, picked me up and carried me over to the side of the boat. Throwing me off board. I sank to the bottom of the sea, my lunges gasping for air, which would never come as I was underwater. Then I woke up…
I woke up with my nails digging into his arm while he tried to pry my hands off. I let go of his arm and frown, looking through the crack, hoping we don't get caught. No one was there.
Aeschylus tapped my shoulder. “Nightmare?” he mouthed. He gets nightmares too, so he does not show sympathy like others would, but understanding.
I nod in response and he nods back in understanding and confidence. We saw light so we must be on the deck, morning. The aroma of vomit and sea salt burned my nose as I breathed in the air.
The days faded into each other, i could not say which day was which, when it was night or day even. We were moved below deck and the smell of vomit burned my nose the entire time. We were easily in there for a month at least. My dress became tattered, we couldn’t leave the chest the entire time, so we were lucky to be in a spacious chest and not the smaller one Aeschylus had suggested beforehand.
We were picked up again and dragged off the ship. Finally, we will get off this ship and Aeschylus picked the lock from the inside and we slowly crawled out. Where our Chest was dropped was swarming with people. Someone saw us struggle out of our hiding place and followed us as we walked. I don’t know who it was. I just knew someone was watching us as we walked to the outskirts of town. I pulled the knife out from my belt and held it tight as we walked.
“We have a shadow,” I say bluntly and turn around to see a woman in her mid-twenties standing there, she had a long white dress and very short dark brown hair, her eyes were dark and her smile was welcoming.
“ Hello, children.” Her voice was deep and calm as she continued “ran away I see, where would you be headed?” She glares at Aeschylus and points to my knife “ you can put the knife down.” I listen.
“ We are going to the place where I don’t have to get married, we are unsure of the name, unfortunately.” I frown and watch her, looking for her weaker points in case she came for an attack. She looked at me as though doing the same.
“ Amazons, that is where you wish to go, the Amazons. “ her voice changed from a calm, deep voice to a hushed one. “ And I can take you there.” She smiles and nods her head
“ fine, but one wrong move and I won’t hesitate to shoot your brains out with an arrow,” I say, my voice was threatening and harsh
“ I like her.” She points to me “ and won’t be needed, but your friend here may have an issue getting in, we are not ones to like men much other than slaves.”
“ Well, fair I mean many women are meant as slaves,” I say bluntly.
