The young princess smiled softly as she entered the Guildhall once again that day, hoping to at least flirt with the cute elven receptionist once again. She lightly stretched a bit once more, as she slowly looked around. She had noticed something was in the air. Something had caused the place to grow quiet. It was then that she noticed a hooded person was at the desk, before the receptionist. Based on their clothes, and the shape of their body, they had to be some sort of Elven rogue, or maybe a ranger.
Frowning slightly, the princess slowly approached the counter, still frowning as she did so, slowly crossing her arms over her chest as she did. She felt the eyes of everyone around her watching her as she approached, clearly, something had happened to cause everyone to become tense, so quickly. "Look, I'm telling you, ma'am, I don't know of anyone here who has such a skill. You'll have to go to the capital. I am sorry, we just don't..." The receptionist had begun, subtly glancing behind the person at the princess, a desperate look of needing help on her face as she did.
"I'd rather not go to that damned place. I've already said that. Now, again, are you sure there is no one stationed at this branch that knows anything about Abyssal magic? Are. you. sure?" The woman said softly, a familiar tone in her voice. One that had a tone of annoyance and anger that the princess remembered. A remembrance that made her pause, a look of both confusion, and hope on her face. She recognized that voice. But, if it was true, she couldn't believe it.
"C-Caelyn?" The princess said softly, now near enough that both would have heard her. "Is... that you? Caelyn?" she then said, a look of worry, concern, and hope in her voice. And on her face. Not even a few moments had passed before the person turned from looking at the receptionist to looking at the princess, a shocked look on the dark elf's face. And confusion.
"And what... are you doing here for, princess?" The dark elf said, frowning as she turned to fully face her, her arms crossing over her own chest as well, the knife on her belt perfectly visible. "I thought I had made it perfectly clear after I left the capital, that I want nothing to do with your family." She then said softly, a tone of annoyance in her voice, that the young princess hadn't heard from her since the two had initially met. As she spoke those words, however, they confused the princess even more. She hadn't heard such a thing and only knew that one day her best friend, and at the time the love of her life, had suddenly vanished from her life.
"Ah... I... I don't..." The princess began, a nervous look on her face as she shuffled a bit. The past few years of missing Caelyn coming forward all at once, now that she had finally found her friend. "I... I'm not sure w-what to say." She finally continued, her hand going to her chest now, as she took a few deep breaths. "I don't know what you're talking about Caelyn. All I know is one day you... disappeared, that's it." She said softly, her voice cracking slightly as she did so, slightly moving closer to the dark elf. "That's it. I swear. If... my family did something to you, I wasn't involved, I swear. Please... just... tell me something, okay?"
At this, while she did not back away, Caelyn did in fact look away from him, her arms still crossing her arms as she stood there, but she had shuffled lightly, now almost looking defensive. "I... Don't want to talk about it. I've put it behind me." She then said, letting out a soft sigh as she did, slowly shaking her head a bit, before stopping, looking away from her now, a slight blush on her face. It was then, that an old memory flashed into the dark elf's mind. A memory that would help her, immensely. "Wait..." she then said, quickly moving, fast enough that most people would not have seen her move. She was then gripping the princess's shoulders, rather tightly. A desperate look on her face. "Tell me. Did you complete that class? Do you know how to deal with Abyssal magic?"
"Y-yes? Why? Is... something wrong?" The princess asked, a confused look on her face as she shuffled a bit, Caelyn's grip rather strong, keeping her rooted to the spot rather well. "Did, something happen?"
It took a bit for Caelyn to explain things to the princess, and by then the two had moved to a more private area in one of the upper floors of the Guildhall so that no one could over-hear them. "And that's it." Caelyn then said softly, sighing a bit as she finished recounting what she had been up to, the past couple of years. Having left out the investigation into Dungeon Core Ore, as she did not want to worry the princess.
As Caelyn finished, the young princess slowly nodded, as she soon understood what all had been going on. While her no longer missing friend seemed to be deliberately leaving out some of the information, mostly what she had been doing the days shortly after her disappearance. While she did want to pry further, she also wanted to trust her friend and so did not. Besides, if what Caelyn had told her was true, they had far more pressing matters to attend to. A Void Crystal had shown up. Or at least, the effects of one.
"And, are you sure what you saw was accurate?" The young princess finally said, lightly rubbing her chin as she stood there, thinking. The Guild Master of the branch they were in having joined in on the conversation since then, due to how serious the matter had become. "Are you sure? I trust you Cae, don't get me wrong. It's just... You know how serious this is. We need to make sure, okay?"
"Yes, I know. That's why I'm here." Caelyn then said, the dark elf crossing her arms over her chest once again as she looked up at the princess. It indeed had been some time since she last saw her, and she had at first been rather surprised to see her having become such a dependable person. While these thoughts passed through her mind, the constant confessions of love the princess had given her back when they had been in school also passed through the dark elf's mind, and this only served to slightly irritate her once again.
