Elizabeth's mouth was agape in disbelief, slowing turning her head in the direction that the fireball came from. One of the giant pillars of ice melted down in a flash and became a puddle of water on the ground. Walking towards her through it was a recently familiar face. “L-Lilith?!”
Lilith smiled at her and gave a playful wink. “The one and only!~” Her appearance was different again, no longer like a normal person; pointed ears, fangs, and the changed eyes. All of it was beginning to cement this new mind boggling reality.
She dropped onto her knees and shook her head in disbelief. “This has to be a dream right...? I just can't wake myself up, right? This is all too much to be real,” she practically pleaded to her.
Lilith shook her head with a disappointed look on her face. “I feel bad for you, but I'm not gonna lie. This isn't a dream or anything,” she answered while standing over her.
She looked down at the ground briefly, then back up at the bloody sky. “Then... what is this? What's happening? Who are you?” she asked in a slight daze, her voice trailing off towards the end.
The sultry woman leaned down and pressed her finger against Elizabeth's lips. “I told you before, my name is Lilith~” she reminded her with a wink. “Just stay back for a while, 'kay? She won't get to you with me here, then I can answer your questions after.”
Elizabeth stopped for a moment, trying to process a fragment of what was happening so she could believe she hadn't been completely driven to insanity. “Okay... I can do that.” In reality, she had no reason to trust Lilith over the icy woman. At least the former saying she would explain things without forcing her to go somewhere created some sort of mutual trust. She quickly scrambled over to the side of the building, hiding around the corner but peeking her head out to see what was happening.
The icy woman pushed herself out of the crater she made in the wall, narrowing her eyes at Lilith as her elegant demeanour cracked for a moment. There was a new look in her eyes, screaming violence and sadness. Her lip quivered subtly enough that nobody else would notice. “You... Lilith!” she growled, cold air viciously escaping her mouth as she took harsh breaths.
As she walked closer to her, Lilith wondered why a denizen of this world would be so infuriated to say her name like that. But once she was close enough to see the icy woman in more detail, her eyes went wide. “That’s impossible..." she whispered to herself, “Eira?!”
Elizabeth looked back and forth between the two women. It was bad enough that this entire scenario was confusing, but now she definitely felt like she was missing something. “Do they know each other?” she thought to herself. Based on the look Eira had given, it was doubtful their familiarity was a good thing.
Eira floated upwards with her icy wind as her composure slowly returned. “You have no right to utter my name.” The snowy particles in the air quickly formed into a small icicle, which was sent sailing towards Lilith with lethal intent.
Lilith slid to the side, the icicle soaring past and cutting off a couple hairs from her head. Her hands engulfed themselves in flames, much like the fireball she sent out before. “What are you doing?!” she shouted at her with a crack in her voice.
The icy woman tilted her head as one of her eyes twitched. “You will have to bring me down if you want me to speak. I have a task to do, and I will not let you stop me.” Her body suddenly shattered into pieces of ice, and before Lilith could react, the woman emerged from a gust of icy wind behind her. She swung a furious ice-coated fist into Lilith's back, followed by a blast of intense winter wind that sent her crashing into the nearby field of dead grass.
She gasped as she tumbled across the field, managing to roll herself onto her feet mid-slide and slowing to a halt. The grass was lightly ignited by the touch of her burning hands, leaving a small trail of ash in her path. It looked like she had a lot going through her head, but staying in a frazzled mental state would only make things more dangerous. “She’s a lot stronger now...” she muttered while wiping her bloody lip.
Eira slowly floated towards the field, the frosty air around her started forming together again. The snow and ice created a group of large icicles that floated around her body. She gestured at Lilith, which sent the icicles flying towards her in a swift barrage.
Lilith barely had time to react, the first icicle flying past her and cutting her right bicep. Just when the rest were about to hit her, a cone of flames burst out from her hands and melted the ice before it could make contact. “Don’t underestimate me now~” she warned her as she returned a bit to her usual demeanour. She looked up at the woman with a playful grin as the blood from her gash flowed all down her arm, dripping onto the grass from her fingertips.
The blood started to move around on her arm, distorting itself and reshaping into the form of a large claw around Lilith's hand. With a snap of her fingers, her blood burst into flames while retaining its menacing form.
“New tricks I see...” She whispered to herself quietly while forming more icicles around herself. She gestured at Lilith again and sent more of them soaring in her direction, but in the same moment, she shattered herself into ice fragments like before.
Lilith quickly spun around, using her other hand to send a wave of flames at the icicles to burn them in their path. Just as the woman appeared behind her, Lilith blocked her strike by grabbing it with her flaming claw.
The two stared at each other intensely, neither one faltering as they pushed against each other for control. Lilith's flaming claw refused to be snuffed out, and Eira’s frozen arms refused to melt; they were almost completely equal with each other.
Elizabeth hurried out from her hiding place, her body trembling erratically as she watched the two exchange blows with each other. It was a spectacle that she couldn't believe was happening right before her very eyes. If Lilith had not already reassured her that this was real, she would have tried calling the loonie bin. “What is all of this?” she muttered to herself. The concern deep inside her grew the more she watched, because even though Lilith was able to hold the woman back, she could see that she was a little bit weaker than her opponent.
The two combatants were pushed away from each other by an explosion from Lilith's fire, both of them recovering from it with great finesse. Lilith's blood flowed out from her wound and wrapped itself around Eira's waist. The blood tightened and yanked her like a rope all the way back to her.
Lilith clawed across the icy woman's chest when they made contact, then once again as an uppercut. The force of the hit was so powerful that it broke through her blood and her opponent tumbled across the field.
Eira screamed in pain, the claw having torn through part of her clothes and leaving her bleeding onto them. She breathed heavily, her hair falling over her face as her wounds were slowly patched with frost to stop the bleeding.
“Just leave now and we don't have to fight anymore. I’m not gonna let you take her!” she growled at her as blood trickled down her face.
The ice woman's eyes grew more intense upon hearing this, arms shaking as she was lifted onto her feet by the cold wind. She let out a long breath, the wind in the area growing far more intense and becoming almost painful on skin contact.
The frost in the air grew thicker, like a tornado of snow and ice was slowly forming around the entire ‘campus’ area. “You will not need to worry about me taking her then if she is dead!” She gestured at Lilith and a stream of frost from the wind formed into a razor-sharp wave that flew at her.
Lilith's eyes went wide, rolling out of the way just in time for it to go past her. The wave carved through the ground into a building, slicing the chunk that it travelled through cleanly from the rest. She looked over quickly at where Elizabeth was standing, seeing a fleet of icicles forming above her. She created a small explosion beneath her feet, sending herself flying at Elizabeth before the icicles could skewer her.
Elizabeth tried to run from the ice, but there was far too much of it to get away from on her own at the speed Eira was creating it. They began to rain down as soon as they finished forming, perfectly on course to her. Just when she thought it was going to catch up with her, Lilith flew past and grabbed her along the way. She watched as the icicles pierced into the ground just behind them one after the other, penetrating through buildings and earth like a hot knife through butter. When she looked down she was surprised to see that Lilith's flaming claw did not hurt in the slightest, the heat was almost a comforting feeling for her.
Lilith slid them to a stop and looked down at Elizabeth in her arms while the ice storm raged on around them. “Sorry, I'm kinda... not at my best right now,” she apologized and laughed weakly. “Could you help me?”
“Help you? How in the world can I help you? I can’t do superpowered whatever that is!” she answered in a flustered voice. She understood the situation was serious, but being carried around like a bride on wedding night wasn’t helping her composure.
Without any warning, Lilith leaned down and pressed her lips deeply against Elizabeth's. It wasn't an ordinary kiss, Lilith pushed herself more into it, passionately. Out of all the things Elizabeth thought would happen today, this was not one of them.
Her face exploded into redness, her head starting to spin so much that she thought she was about to pass out. The sensations were too much for her, it made her feel too weak to try and push Lilith away. However while she was being kissed, she felt something strange, something alien to her was taking over her body.
As Lilith broke the kiss, she looked down at Elizabeth with a playful grin. She could feel herself regaining some of her strength, like she could run a hundred miles with no fatigue, and her flames could burn brighter than ever. “Thanks for the help, sweetie!~” she said to her while easing the flustered girl onto her feet.
Elizabeth couldn't respond with words in that moment, slowly sinking onto the ground in shock while her brain just became mush. She slowly raised her shaking hand and gently pressed her fingertips against her lips.
Eira watched them, her body visibly shuddering in frustration and the elegant look in her eyes was permanently replaced with a different intent. “Kill them,” she spoke softly. The frosty winds formed into several waves as she had done before. Her ‘task’ of taking Elizabeth to her Master alive had disappeared in her mind.
Lilith moved a safe distance away from Elizabeth, then created an explosion beneath her feet to charge back into the fight. Using her arms and legs, she sent waves fire that mirrored the frozen ones. Their attacks clashed against each other, the fire engulfing the ice and melting it instantly while simultaneously being snuffed out by the cold. When the last wave came at her, Lilith slashed her claw through it, shattering the attack and sending crystallized fragments everywhere.
Eira floated back a bit, awestruck as Lilith flew at her. The frost coating her arms thickened itself to protect her as she braced for impact.
Lilith sent a powerful kick down towards her opponent’s head, most of the impact being absorbed by the thick layer of ice. She flipped gracefully and landed back on the ground, engulfing her other hand in fire as she punched and clawed at the icy woman.
She did her best to block Lilith's attacks while trying to squeeze in some of her own. The two predicted each others' movements and strikes, shockwaves of ice and fire bursting out from them every time they clashed. For a brief moment she caught an opening, using it to grab Lilith and slam her into the ground. With the help of her cold wind, she kicked her to send her flying away.
Lilith wheezed in pain as she was slammed and flew back. She watched the woman form more icicles and decided to counter with something different. The blood from her wounds flowed out a little, forming condensed orbs of blood the size of marbles which swirled around her hand.
The women sent their projectiles flying at each other, Lilith's orbs shattering through Eira’s icicles and piercing through her cold body as well. It was clear now that after regaining her strength, Lilith had the upper hand between the two of them.
She screamed in pain, the wind dropping her onto the ground where she fell to her knees. Her wounds attempted to frost over as quickly as they could, but the punctures created by the blood sealed up much slower now. She looked up at Lilith while breathing heavily, the ice storm around campus calming back down to a simple frosty mist.
Lilith moved forward a few steps, looking down at the woman with pity. “Please stop now... Eira.” Although she had received a burst of energy, she wanted the fight to end so that no fatal wounds were inflicted. On top of everything, the strength she regained wouldn’t last long and she didn’t want to push past her limit.
Eira gave her a soft smile, but it was almost disturbingly twisted in a way. “Did you... think I would stop after a single attempt?” she spoke along with a soft giggle. She gestured behind Lilith at Elizabeth in the distance.
Elizabeth's cloudy mind cleared a little as she stood up, fear striking her when she saw the icy woman point at her. An agonizing pain shot through her entire being before she could do anything. Her whole body convulsed in pain as she looked down, a huge icicle had lodged itself into her lower back and came out the other side through her stomach. The pain was unlike anything she had ever felt, her nerves burning so intensely, followed by numbness.
She vomited up blood and held onto the icicle in shock, her hands slowly coating in her own crimson fluids while the rest of it started pooling beneath her. She coughed up more as she stood there, her eyes wide as her body refused to respond. The girl was unable to form words, only able to forcefully crane her neck to look over at Lilith and Eira. Her vision blacked out moments later, and following her vision failing, her legs gave out as well. Elizabeth's body slumped down onto the ground... motionless.
