She was leaving and there’s nothing she could do about it. She begged, she cried to her father not to make her go, but nothing worked and now it was too late to try anything else. She sat still as she watched her home get smaller and smaller. The car was smaller than she would like it to be. She was right next to the strange woman who was taking her away. The man and boy were across from them. The boy was on his phone, no longer aware of the outside world. The man and woman were talking. It was something about their kingdom. Esme didn't understand most of it, and she didn't care to try.
The car ride was long. It had to be a few hours, though Esme couldn't know how many. When they got to their destination it was dark. She was tired. She was standing in front of a garden. She couldn't see it very well, but she figured it was beautiful. It was the middle of spring. Her birthday was coming up! She wondered if she would spend it at home, with her family, or if she’d still be here. There was a path leading through the garden. They started to walk down it. They came upon two rather large doors. There was a guard on each side. She realizes there are guards everywhere. As she looks back, she sees that there was a guard every five feet on the path. The king motions to one of the many guards surround them.
The guard walked off and a few seconds later the doors opened to reveal a large room. There are four large columns that go up into the glass ceiling. In the middle of the room there is an incline. There is a large butterfly in the middle of the floor. Around it is a bunch of white and silver swirls. There are doors outlining the room. Each one is a little different than the other. Esme follows the family into one of the doors on the right. Through there is a hall that seems to go on forever to Esme. She is quickly proven wrong when they reach the end. At the end of the hall is a big window with a bunch of little details. Before Esme can look at all of them properly the group starts off.
As they climb up a set of stairs, Gene starts off down another hallway, leaving the group behind. A man wearing a robe walked up to the king and mumbled something.
The king turned around, “I have to get going. Ceila, will you please take Miss Esme to her room?”
The queen nodded and took Esme’s hand, “Come along.” The king and his entourage left Esme and the queen alone in the hall. They started to walk down the hall again. After what seemed like forever, they finally arrived at a door.
