We finally make it to homeroom just before the bell rings. I take my seat next to the window and Skylar sits next to me. Liam doesn't have the same classes as us since he's younger. When you first walk into the school you would think normal people go here. That's because we have to be in our human forms. Though some show their tail, ears, or wings. Just to establish what species they are from of course. Skylar and I never show any distinct characteristics as to what species we are but Liam pretty much levitates around, showing off his translucent, glittery wings. Kind of similar to your average pixie fairy.
Classes are normal as well. It's organized, clean, and peaceful. At least that's how it's like on the prey side. There are rumors that on the predator side, there are fights that happen while the lecture is proceeding. Some of the teachers don't care and just continue like normal unless the people involved are about to really kill one another. I feel bad for them but I guess they get paid just for being there. I'm glad I did have the choice to not go there. "Okay class, everyone turn your books to page 176, and let's have someone read the first question." The lecture is beginning. See you after class!
~Over to the predator side in the garden~
"Skipping class again I see," a young woman says. Aiden ignores her and continues to stare at the roses before speaking. "Don't you ever wonder why blood is so precious to us demons? It's because it reminds us of roses. The pretty shades of red, the soft touch of the petals. Perfect for such a young maiden to wear on her special day." Aiden strokes one of the rose's petals, completely indulged in its form. "I couldn't agree with you more. Though you need to be in class" the woman replies as she walked closer to Aiden. She bent down to also observe the roses. "Why should I go back," Aiden would ask still not giving the woman eye contact. "They will kick you out that's why. Also, I heard Micah lapdogs went over to the prey side. They saw the nine-tails and she wasn't really welcoming" the woman says sighing. Aiden stops playing with the roses finally giving the woman his attention. "What is the nine-tails doing on the prey side" he asks as his tone shifted into a much serious one. "I'm guessing the principal is up to something or she is trying to claim that territory" the woman says with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Ivy, you're a strong vampire among your clan" Aiden leans in closer to her and continues, "find that beast and watch her every move." Ivy bowed before shifting into her full bat form. "As you wish, my king." She flew away out of existence.
"How come I didn't know this sooner," he asks himself as he stood up, walking to class.
The predator side classrooms are usually dark and spacious due to them always fighting each other. Aiden sits next to Micah waiting for him to speak. "I'm guessing Ivy told you already and you're upset" Micah asks with a smirk. "I'm upset that I didn't get to her myself" Aiden says crossing his arms. Micah and Aiden had an odd relationship. Most people would brush over it and call it a close friendship. Between a demon and a hellhound, it would look to be more of a superior type of relationship. The least everyone knows is that they are close in terms of how comfortable they are being next to each other.
"Don't be such a sad baked potato Aiden. There's always a next time" Micah says laughing. Aiden gets frustrated by Micah's commentary and exposes his sharp teeth and claws while growling. Everyone stopped what they were doing and observes Aiden in fear. "You should calm down, Mr. Kind Demon." Micah laughs even more to the point he started to tear, even banging on the desk that began to break down from how hard it was being hit. Aiden quickly turns, facing Micah, and clawed his chest within that moment, barely having time for Micah to react. Micah coughs up black blood and everyone in the classroom gets up, running towards the door in shock. "Wow, such a feisty demon you are," Micah says holding his chest as he constantly coughed. "You still got jokes I see," Aiden says in his demonic voice. Micah throws up even more blood while Aiden stared at his suffering in amusement.
"Alpha" one of his men interrupts, "let us take you to the nurse office."
"Sure why not then. I will see you later Aiden." Micah leaves with his men to the nurse's office. Aiden sighs and goes back to normal. Class continues as normal and school finishes.
~Over back at the prey side~
"That was so tiring. Never again will I want to come to class" Skylar says as she stretched out her arms yawning. "Yeah, same," I say chuckling. The prey classes are sometimes intense so we can build up our skills against predators. Would it ever come to the point where we would have to defend ourselves against a predator? Possibly, but these classes don't do much in my eyes. The classes only teach us how to properly get away and learn safety routes of the town. That's just about enough skills they will ever teach us. Skylar and I pack our bags, leaving the classroom as we hear our names being called. "Skylar! Iris!" Liam screams "running up" to us. Sometimes he acts like a child. I sometimes think of him as my little brother. At this time of day, we all kinda go our separate ways. Liam usually hangs out in the school library since it's quiet. Skylar decided to go to the nurse's office to practice her healing magic. As for me I just walk around the school until the others are done. Though I feel like I'm being watched. There's always this intense feeling every time I walk around a corner.
I reach the garden of the school where I sat on the grass, observing the miniature pond full of koi fish. As I took a look inside my bag to find my phone, a casual wisp of wind followed by a low whisper filled my ears. My head whipped around to find the source of the whisper yet I was alone. Creeped out, I got back up again, carrying my bag to sit by the tree. "Hello, there," the unknown voice would say.
