She stopped at the kitchen entrance, and leaned against the doorway. She watched as her father was getting ready to make eggs. He pulled out the carton of eggs from the fridge and sat it on the countertop near the sink. The pan he was using was already on the stove, heated by the flame of the burner below. He pulled out a few eggs, which was an indication that he was going to make scrambled eggs. However, these were Hitsuni's favorite. They were not your normal scrambled eggs that you would see. Hitsuni's father would make them extra cheesy with cheddar cheese, whereas Hitsuni would tell anyone, tasted amazing. Others would agree with Hitsuni, especially her friends since she once had them taste her father's famous scrambled eggs.
A lot of times her friends would come over for breakfast, sometimes...well a lot of times unexpectedly. Sometimes they would come over for lunch or dinner. Sometimes for all meals. Luckily enough, Hitsuni's father didn't mind it one bit. He would even cook for his team or order food that he would go pick up and bring back for everyone. He always treated everyone well when it came to food.
Sometimes though, things in the kitchen could get a little exciting. Hitsuni still leaning against the doorway watches as her father grabs an egg to crack.
"One egg." her father says cracking the shell. "Two eggs." he says. "Threeeee OH NO!" his voice getting slightly distressed as the egg he was holding slipped out of his hand shooting upwards reaching the height of his forehead. His hands and arms flailing about as he attempts to catch the rouge egg, but his attempts only make it to where it looks like he's juggling in a panic. The egg danced in his hands before taking the show on his arm where out of instinct he straightened his arm near the egg carton. The egg rolled down his arm, reaching his still hand finally rolling perfectly into one of the empty spots within the carton of eggs. Hitsuni couldn't help but giggle at what just happened right before her eyes. Her father must have heard her because he turned towards her.
"Just going to laugh and not help huh?" he says before giving a slight smile before chuckling.
"Looked like you had handled it, Dad." Hitsuni replies with a giggle.
"Well since you think I have everything handled, sit on down; breakfast is almost ready." her father says smiling. She nods and pulls out the chair from under the table and takes a seat.
"So how did you sleep sweetheart?"
"I slept really well. I had this wonderful dream. I dreamt that I was in this grassy field, there were so many beautiful flowers growing and there was this little bunny too. It hopped around and well the dream was just really nice. Especially after having those nightmares you know?" she finishes.
"Yeah definitely. You had those nightmares going on for a while now. I'm really glad that you had a good dream for once; hopefully this is a sign that they are going away. Plus without all the stress, your mind is finally able to rest and relax." he tells her.
"Yeah." she responds with a smile. "How did you sleep though?"
Her dad looks at her, fixing his messy long brown hair, his blue eyes looking slightly tired. "I slept ok, just a lot of things on my mind. Mostly about the team and all our work. Planning new things, all that fun stuff you know? Don't get me wrong, it's really fun and I love doing it all, especially with working on it with all the people I love; it's just tiring sometimes." the tired look from his eyes disappears when he begins talking again. "I'm really lucky that you and your friends will be working with us. Who would have guessed that my little girl and all her friends would want to do this. It's just amazing." he says with a smile. "Everyone else on the team is really excited about it. They've been counting down the days until all of you join us. Just have to take those exams and you'll officially be ready. Just a few more days." he finishes with that same smile but his eyes show that excitement.
Hitsuni's father prepares the rest of the breakfast, and presents it to her before taking his own seat. He sits down and they both begin eating. The time passes by and the day outside becomes brighter and more lively. The birds are chirping and the morning is filled with possibilities. It is too early to say what will happen, but anything is possible. Hitsuni and her father eat their breakfast, talking, just enjoying their time together. Laughing and smiling together until in the distance they can hear a knocking at the door.
