The spirit of celebration lasted for a few hours but eventually died down. Entering the Virtual State and subsequently taking my first walk shortly after took too much out of me. I slept uninterruptedly for 18 hours that day. I gotta love the perks that come from being a little baby. Eventually, the morning came and began the next day.
Today, I've been arranged to hang out with Yllsse Scarlet. The fact that Ethos stopped teaching me in order to make this arrangement happen still irks me. Oh well, let bygones be bygones. He did end up helping me learn how to walk for the first time. So, I do owe him for that. Actually, never mind, whatever demands he has planned in the future negates any goodwill coming from him.
It seems that I woke up a bit too early. There's still an hour before we have to wake up for breakfast. Usually, I would go back to sleep. But I rested quite well and I'm feeling energetic. With my coordination problems addressed via the Virtual State yesterday, I became a lot more mobile in this tiny body. I elegantly vaulted over the crib fence and landed on my two feet. With a mischievous smile, I walked quietly towards Albert's bed. I'm going to take my time teasing him.
An hour passed, the clock alarm went off. Albert opened his eyes and found himself dangling over the edge of his bed. His eyes met mine in fear. The only thing that kept him from falling is the blanket he was hammocked in as I held the opposite end of the blanket. If that was the extent of my prank, I wouldn't have gone this far. Nonchalantly, I let go of the reins and set Albert on freefall. "Ahhh," his rear collided first against the floor. Spanking him juicy on his bottom. I hope I didn't awaken something in him. Though, I did awaken his wrath.
"You little shitter!" Albert directed his hostility towards me. Not gonna lie, his face scared me. I dashed out of the door and down to the main floor leaving Albert shocked at the series of events that unfolded before him. My mother and our maid Sylvia were still in the kitchen making breakfast. The aroma of garlic permeated the air. Sylvia brought the porcelain plates to the table. My mom was serving pan-fried garlic toast and scrambled eggs.
Albert hurriedly ran down the stairs, "Mom, Ouya can run like a mouse! Didn't he just learn how to walk yesterday?" Albert yelled frantically. My mom lowered the egg platter onto the table and patted me on the head. "He's a fast learner," my mother smiled. Once Sylvia finished arranging the food on the table, we all sat down in unison. The scrambled eggs were coated in a rich, herb cream accented by the pepper flakes sprinkled on top of the yellow flesh. The garlic toast only needed to do two things right. The garlic and the toast. And it truly does exceed those expectations. Toasty, garlicky and buttery. It was absolute bliss.
I found eating to be more enjoyable while closing my eyes. Watching others eat can be quite unsightly especially Albert as crumbs and spillings litter his dining space. His mouth was oily and had egg residue sticking near his lips. It was the weekend so the whole family simply ate quietly enjoying each other's company. However, quiet can get quite uncomfortable. Especially for my socially eager mother, who decided to break the silence.
"Michael, the Scarlets will be coming here in an hour. Make sure to get Ouya dressed properly and wash his hair," my mother ordered. My dad simply nodded as he kept his eyes on his book. The book had a red, hardcover case. On the front was the title, How to potty train your Son: Eleventh Edition.
Once we had finished, Sylvia cleaned the table as my mom washed the dishes. It seems Albert also made quite a mess on the floor. Poor Sylvia. My father brought me back up to the room to change. He unclothed me and proceeded to pair me with a blue flannel shirt and denim trousers with adjustable shoulder straps. Afterwards, he did something a bit peculiar. He clasped his hands in a familiar praying gesture and then out of nowhere, particles of water coated his palms and used it to wet my hair. His other hand held a comb to groom my hair into whatever he desired.
He seemed to be adept in this world's magic. I grew ever more curious of what secrets and teaching behold me on this strange planet of Mera. Without a doubt, he held some secrets that he would bring to his grave if he could. I thought to myself, "The way Ethos manifested himself into my mind seems quite similar to how the Virtual State works. If so, would it be possible to virtualize myself into my father's mind?"
I walked down the stairs fully dressed and showed myself off in front of my mom.
"Aww, you look so cute with those clothes," My mother loudly exclaimed. She crouched and began pulling on my cheeks. "Sylvia, what do you think?"
"He dons an elegant appearance," Sylvia spoke softly. She bent towards me and picked up a random dustball stuck on my head. "Yes, you look perfect," she smiled.
Without noticing, an hour has already passed. And someone knocked on the door as on cue. I walked with my mother to open the door. On the other side, was a group of familiar faces.
"Good morning, Mrs. Benneton."
Writer's Note: Changed the Last Name of Ouya (Thomas) to Benneton rather than Leufenbottom.
