The smell of burned charcoal woke me from my dream.
My view is a little blurry, but I can perceive burned village around me.
My body still hurts, but I can get up from the ground. I need some more time.
Weirdly, I don't feel much cold right now. The sky is clean, but there some snow around even after the fire.
...
Getting up took me some time, but I managed it.
Now, let's see what happened to the village and are there anything I could use.
I started to walk inside around the town, most of the hut's burned because of the fire, but some of them are still looking good.
I even found a shovel in one of them. That is great because now I can make a clay furnace.
There wasn't much loot inside the small huts. What a disappointment I expected at least some amount of loot inside them.
I should check the shaman's hut for better loot. It survived the fire
The shaman's hut is full of treasures. More than I can carry, and the sad thing is I don't know if I ever need something counting as money one day.
Carrying a large amount of gold could be a waste of space or my second chance in life, but if both dungeons and goblins have it, does it mean precious items have value?
I should only get the ones with the most value to save space for more important things.
There is some gold over there, some jewelry over here. It seems the shaman only likes the shiny things and not propitious items.
After a short research, I found a chest under some rugs. It is decorated with metals and has decorative carvings. It has two keyholes, but I didn't locate even a single key inside the shaman's hut.
I hope there's nothing fragile inside of it because I will use force to open it right now. I don't care about find the item get the loot bullshit, give my goods.

More gold, some jewelry, and a book inside, it wasn't that surprising. I checked the books first as other things didn't attract my attention.
Having something to pass the time is priceless. Other than hunting and exploring, I don't have anything to do.
But I am on another planet. I wasn't capable of reading runic symbols in the past.
I grabbed the book and started to inspect its cover with my hand. I opened a random page and touched the page. It feels good to touch something that feels like home.
Our family mansion had a library that contained old books with leather covers. In a lonely house, these books were my only friend. When I wasn't training or studying, I pick one of them and read it until servants started to search me.
"Voice, could you translate this paragraph." I touched the page with my finger showing one of the sentences.
After some blur, runic words started to disappear, and something more readable started to appear, and it didn't take long until the whole page translated.
"So the gods said. Ones who believe us, don't be afraid, the evils from far going to get punished for their crime against our children. We, the mighty ones, shall send our champions to protect you, our dear children. All the true believers, don't be scared to lose your life for your fate! We, the gods and goddesses of this world, will reward you with a seat in our heaven. As there is no place like there in this world."
I finished the paragraph and closed the book with my other hand. Religious bullshit, I started to understand why I am here and the meaning of the void. Gods only wanted to choose victims and play with them as we are their toys.
Their promise seems more like a way to keep people their followers as they want to use them more for their entertainment. What do they think intelligent creatures are, a pawn in their giant tabletop game?
But I still need that book. I might find a better explanation inside and maybe a way to escape from their hands. I need to be careful not to go crazy because of their lies.

I lost almost every weapon I had in that fight, and goblins didn't provide me anything useful. At least they don't cause any more trouble to me, I hope.
But I need to find something to test my increased strength as I wonder how much power I gained after killing a boss and rare monster at the same time.
With the Sense of Shaman, I could track monsters nearby, which is notably helpful, as I don't need to look around searching for possible ambushes.
***
My body started to tingle. That could be because something triggered the Sense of Shaman, as this forest is full of aggressive entities, from simple deer to giant wolves.
Not from that far, I hear the sounds of a flowing stream. I wonder if my sense triggered because of a deer. I will still go there as I need both meat and water right now. My supplies are pretty unconsumable after the fight.
Replenishing them while testing my increased strength will be a good chance for me.

Yes, there is both a deer and a stream. I need to be careful not to spill lots of blood into the water as I drink it later.
Knowing deers aggressive nature (at least in this world), only showing myself will be enough to trigger him, then he will try to attack me with everything he got.
And I showed myself to the deer, and it reacted as I expected.
"Alert, an entity shows aggressive behaviors." Even though I know the current situation perfectly, Voice still explains it every time.
"Thank you, dear, but I got it no need to worry about me."
My little pun must make deer even angrier as it started to charge towards me faster than the ones I killed before.
I didn't even try to dodge his attack and grabbed his antlers at the moment I had a chance. My strength increased by a lot, I will say that.
Deer couldn't even move his body while I hold him. Now, let's make things a little more exciting, shall we?
I raised the creature into the air and threw it towards a nearby tree. Even I wasn't expecting that much power, I was waiting to lift it into the air a bit and smashed into the ground if I could, but this is another level.
I wonder how this poor creature was shocked when it effected by it. Deer also took lots of damage from my move, as I can see the red bar (which is saying endurance right now) dropping a lot after he hit the tree.
He tried to get up but stumbled and fell to the ground. The poor creature, I should finish him fast and without hurting it.
I walked near the deer who was trying to keep me away with his kicks. I put my hand on his head, started to pat him slowly.
"Sorry for killing you. As nature says, one needs to die to others survive. I hope you found peace after you went somewhere far from here."
I snapped his neck with one move and ended his life. Moments like that hurts me most, as I kill a pure creature without sins, as it is not the same thing as killing monsters who try to kill me just because of instincts.
"Rest well, my friend."
As I started to skin the deer, I noticed a crackle. When I turned my head to the back, I saw two skeletons watching me while doing nothing.
Weirdly they didn't activate the sense, and they didn't seem to be aggressive towards me. There should be an explanation for that.
"Voice, explain the current situation, why they are non-aggressive right now."
