Nova ran into the office buildings and ran into the elevator. She had only been second in command for a few hours and still wasn't used to her duty’s yet. She had almost missed the notification to head to Valentina’s office except for the alert bracelet she was wearing. Nova ran into Valentina's office, luckily she wasn't late. Valentina sat at her desk, while Egil was sifting through papers in the cabinets. 

“Here you are, Val,” Egil said, handing her a file full of papers. Nova’s heart was racing, she had never been a part of something like this before. 

“Now Nova let’s get down to business,” Valentina said brushing off Egil like he wasn't even there. Nova didn't know what it was but Valentina just radiated with power. Nova wasn't afraid of her but respected her. 

“Yes, ma’am you mentioned something about needing information?” Nova said as Valentina actually respected her and was listening fully. Usually, mafia leaders brushed everyone off like they were nothing, even if they had something important to say. It seemed like with Valentina however, she would respect you on how much power you had. with Nova being second in command she had second-most power, which meant she got more respect. 

“Yes, what do you know about Clarence Andor?” Valentina asked her slightly, glancing through the file Egil had given her.  

“Clarence Zane Andor, he’s 18 years old and he works for the Andor mafia. His father Claudius Andor is the leader of the Andor mafia. Clarence is 6,1 and likes to spend his free time at Solstice which is a nightclub located at the corner of Shadow Avenue and Cave boulevard.” Nova said in an even tone, as Valentina looked at her slightly shocked. 

“Would you like me to go on?” Nova asked her. 

“No, no that’s enough thank you,” Valentina said as she held up her hand for Nova to stop. “Your crew is one of the best in the Mafia correct?” Valentina asked her. 

“We are not the best ma’am we still have a lot of room for improvement,” Nova said as Valentina nodded. 

“Well, I want you on the case, who better to execute my direct orders than my second in command. I want you and your crew to go get Clarence and bring him here.” Valentina said as she looked through the file. 

“Yes ma’am,” Nova said stiffly as Egil gave her a subtle thumbs up. 

“You're dismissed,” Valentina said as Nova walked out of the office. Nova felt a smile tug at the corner of her lips tonight was going to be fun.

“Alright, why are we here Nova?” Alfred asked as he walked into the room with Rigby. 

“Where's your shirt?” Chadwick asked as he stared at the two of them. 

“Beanie Bear! I told you!” Rigby hissed at him as he tried to cover Alfred’s chest. 

“Why the hell does it matter Chadwick?!” Alfred said as Chadwick raised his hands in defense. 

“Whoa, I'm sorry I didn't realize it was a sensitive topic,” Chadwick said as Fletcher and Ruby laughed. 

“Alright enough all of you, and for that Chadwick, you can leave, I'm not dealing with this bullshit right now,” Nova said, drawing everyone's attention back to her. Why could they not go on meeting without fighting, or annoying one another? 

“Alright, I'm sorry,” Chadwick said with a pleading look on his face. 

“Alright, am I allowed to give you guys the mission, or are we gonna have a problem?” Nova asked them. Just once she wished for a normal mission with everyone. They all nodded their heads except for Amy, who was waiting for instructions. 

“Okay, our mission is to go to Solstice and capture Clarence Andor,” Nova said as the group gave her mixed reactions. 

“Who the hell is Clarence Andor?” Malorie asked as Alfred looked at her like she was crazy. 

“Malorie, Clarence Andor is the son of Claudius Andor. The leader of the Andor mafia our biggest rivals.” he said as Rigby held onto him protectively. Nova knew he had a pretty sketchy past with the Andor mafia, but there seemed to be more than he was letting on. 

“So how exactly are we going to catch this guy then?” Fletcher asked as Amy walked to the front of the room. 

“Fletcher, Chadwick, Ruby, and Malorie you guys haven't been on a mission like this yet so I'm sending you four down to Freddie to learn the new tactics of our group. Nova and I will decide the roles you guys are going to have, and Chadwick when you get a role you stick to it. DO NOT. DO NOT stray from your role. That's how we lose.” Amy said glaring at them. Nova knew how she felt, Amy was worried they weren't ready for a mission like this. The only missions they had been on so far were simple group missions for people who had missed payments. 

“And how exactly are you gonna be deciding these roles,” Chadwick said glaring at Amy. Nova knew he had a tactic for straying from his task, he always was trying to do more than he was supposed to do. He wanted to do something important and he thought only the bigger jobs were the important ones. Nova knew he wanted bigger jobs than the ones he was getting. 

“The same way we always do Chadwick, by strengths and weaknesses and who we were up against,” Nova said as she walked over to the whiteboard and began to write everyone's names on it. 

“Alfred I'm gonna need you to be my main back up, Amy you're with me. Rigby, are you good at driving?” Nova said as she turned to face the group again. Rigby smiled at her, she was surprised usually Alfred would answer for him as he cowered in the background. Soren leaving had changed him, in a good way. 

“Yeah, Alfred has been training me,” he said as Alfred gave him an affectionate nudge. 

“Alright, so Rigby will be our getaway driver, Malorie, and Fletcher. I want you two with the hunting dogs. It's just a precaution in case he runs, Malorie you are the trainer so I’m going to need you to teach Fletcher what he needs to know. Ruby and Chadwick, you're gonna be our spotters.” Nova said as she finished her notes on the board. 

“Freddie can fill you all in on how you're supposed to do things, get going we only have until tonight to get this all done,” Nova said as she turned to face them. 

“Dismissed,” she shouted at them after a few minutes of no one moving. Everyone got up and began to leave. 

“Let's finish what we started,” Alfred said to Rigby as they left the room. Nova made a mental note to not go upstairs anytime soon. Nova turned back to the board to erase what she had written. 

“Chadwick you can leave now, staying in this room isn't going to help with anything. You aren't going to change my mind.” Nova said, turning around and facing him. 

“I just don't see why you get to do the important parts with everyone else. You’re only 1 year older than the rest of us. Heck, not even Ruby, she’s 17 as well.” he spit at her as Nova rolled her eyes. 

“Chadwick, I want you to listen very carefully. I can do the more important jobs because I’m supposed too. I have been beaten, bruised, and cut.” she growled showing him a clear view of the scar across her face that went from near the corner of her eye across her cheek and down to her chin. 

“I have been abused and twisted into a soldier for the mafia. I was bread for the mafia each part of me picked apart and examined closely. I’ve had to go through so many grueling tasks to get here, and what have you done? Huh? You joined and think you are better than everyone. Get over yourself Chadwick, this isn't a game. Lives are constantly at stake. Friends are at stake, family, and you treating this like your coach won't put you in the game because he doesn't think you can play. We know you can play. The problem is you're not ready yet, you haven't finished training. you're lucky you're even going on the mission. Get your head out of the clouds, and wake the fuck up, life is not fair. Get over it, Chadwick. I have never seen a soldier in the mafia act this way. Maybe this is why you are not getting to do more.” she sighed, she had gone too far. “Just get out and go to Freddie. You need to be ready,” she said walking away from him. She had been waiting to tell him off for a while now. 

“Hey, Nova?” Chadwick called out to her. Nova turned around and faced him, he was standing on the other side of the door holding it open. 

“What?” she asked him. “

You’re an ass.” he said as he slammed the door in her face. Nova rolled her eyes, this mission was not going to go well.
