As I climbed up the ten billion balconies, I had finally reached my apartment. I saw Xion and Xihop staring at the television. Surprisingly it was on but the electricity still wasn't.
"What's going on?” I asked, walking to the living room. I could see a man with sunglasses on the screen. It was clearly the president. But what was he saying? I couldn't hear him. Xion looked back at me with a concerned look.
"Where were you?! Have you heard what has happened?" Xion said running up to me. "200 nollaians have already died since this all started!” I was gonna tell him about what happened before but I was too shaken up by the news.
"We shouldn't stay here! We have to go somewhere with a lower risk of getting exploded!”siad Xion, wandering around the room. “I'll take you somewhere safe, somewhere where they can't find us.” I knew Xion was worked up about this. He always felt like he was my only hope, especially when we were kids.
"Relax Xion, we should do as they have instructed and stay put, before we actually end up killing ourselves. Plus shouldn't we wait for your mother. I'm sure she will be home very soon to tell us more about what's happening.” said Xihop, still staring at the soundless tv.
"Ha… Haha, i guess you don't know who my mother is that well after all. She has gone. She has gone to fucking fend for herself as usual. She abandoned us. So don't believe no shit that she says to you or anything she has told us because just like every other time it's a LIE!” Xion was out of breath after his long speech. I had never seen Xion talk so badly about mother (not like I had seen anyone talk bad about mother). He looked at me with a sympathetic look.
"We don't need a mother, do we? You have me anyways” said Xion. I looked at Xihop who was just shaking her head. I nodded in response, what else could I really have done? "Good, I know where we can go, pack your belongings, let's get out of here."
This was my home, throughout all my life I had lived in this house. I had never ever packed my 'belongings’ before, mainly because everything I owned belonged to mother. So I felt kind of sad. Kind of homesick, even though I still was in the house but I knew that what Xion had said before was right. Mother really had gone. And this wasn't even the first time. So this motivated me to follow the only person who actually loved me. Which was Xion.
As I was packing up my things in a small plastic bag. I turned around to see Xihop staring at me.
“A plastic bag, that seems inconvenient for a journey that has no time limit.” she said, helping me with some other small stuff.
"No time limit? Do you know where we are going?” I said thinking that maybe Xion had told her.
"He has decided that he wanted to search for his father. Stubborn child. There is obviously a reason why your mother has kept you away from him for so long,” Xihop shrugged her shoulders and smiled. “I'm just going to say this because nobody has probably said this before but… don’t trust anyone, not even your friend or family. This planet is full of lying thieves, ready to take what they think is theirs.” Xihop finished off with a pat on the head and walked off out the front door. I smiled and kept what she said safely in the back of my head.
Now onto more important matters.
