Will she ever let him go? He hurt us a lot, mentally and physically. Sara does not remember because of the physical abuse he did to her. He had thrown her out the window when he was drunk, and my mother never did anything about it. Grandmother had to take us away from Mom to make her realize we were in a dangerous spot. However, now who will help Mom. Grandmother is gone to heaven or whatever afterlife there is after death.
Knock Knock Knock
“Sara, he’s gone. He went to a hotel, but he will be at school. Do you want me to walk with you to class every day?”
“No,” she said.
“Alright,” I walked back to my room and gave Michael a call.
“Hey, I thought you were going to call me when you got home.”
“I was, but my father was at my house. I had to deal with that. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I was just worried about you.”
“Aww,” I said trying to tease him. “Thanks for worrying about me.”
“No problem Ally.”
We had talked all night before we realized my school alarm went off. “Oh, it’s 6 am.”
“Really? I’m not even tired.”
I laughed, “You say that now, but I bet you’ll be asleep during one of our classes.”
“True,” he laughed. “Well, I’m going to take a shower. I will see you on the bus.”
“Definitely,” I said rushing to get dressed. “Bye.”
“Bye, Ally.”
I quickly ran to my bathroom and turned the water and on and hoped in. Rushing my shower, I grabbed a dressed and put on some make-up.
“Ally, the bus will be arriving soon.”
“I’m coming down,” I said putting my heels on. I reached for my bag off the hook on my door, and I opened it. Rushing down the stairs, carefully, I looked at Mom, who was behind the kitchen counter. “Mom?”
She looked at me, “Ally,” tears started to rush down her face. “You look so pretty.”
I rushed to her and gave her a hug. “Why are you crying, Mom?”
“I really just wanted your father to stay here.”
I huffed, “Mom, you know how Sara and I feel about it.”
“But, he changed, Ally.”
“I don’t think he did, Mom.”
“Just look, if he did, will you agree for him to stay with us?”
I looked at her sad puppy dog eyes. “I will think about it, Mom. However, I cannot speak for Sara.”
“Thank you, Ally.” She squeezed me into a hug.
“I have to go, otherwise I’m going to be late, Mom.”
“Okay,” she let go, “I love you, sweetheart.”
“I love you too,” I yelled rushing out the door.
Quickly, my feet ran to the bus stop.
“You made it,” Sara said, looking at the outfit I put on. “Are you going on a date after school?”
“No, why?”
“You look really pretty.”
“Aw, thank you, sis,” I said.
“You’re welcome.”
The bus pulled up to the stop, and all the students go on. As soon as I got on and sat at a seat, Jack sat next to me. “Hey.”
“What do you want?”
“I just wanted to say that I am sorry for what I did.”
“Oh,” I said look at these sweet eyes. “I forgive you, but isn’t Maddy back there,” I pointed to the back of the bus.
“Yeah, I’m heading there now. I just wanted to apologize to you.”
“Alright,” I said shooing him out of the seat, which I was saving for Michael.
After a short trip over the bridge, we reached his stop, but no one was there. We continued to school. I wonder why he did not take the bus. I laughed, ‘I wonder if he fell asleep.’
As we reached the school, I dialed his number, and he never answered. So, I made the choice that I thought would benefit everyone. I went to my father to ask for his car, so I could drive to get him.
When I reached my father, he was flirting with Ms. Jackson. “You are beautiful.”
“Why thank you.”
“Mr. Nick,” I walked into the conversation, hoping it would scare him. However, he looked calmer than me.
“Ally, how can I help you?”
“Can I talk to you in private?”
“Of course,” he said turning to Ms. Jackson and apologizing to her. She walked away towards her class. “What do you need?”
“I need to borrow your car,” I said with a break in my words.
“Why do you need my car? Why don’t you use yours?”
“I don’t have one.”
“Well, that is a problem.”
“Dad, please. Michael did not get on the bus, and I need to get him.”
“He can miss one-day dear.”
“Whatever, thanks for the help.” I started to walk away, “Oh, by the way,” I turned to him, “just so you know I did see that. I will tell Mom. She deserves better than you. She always has.” I walked back to my locker realizing today was going to be a bad day without Michael. Maybe, I will go see him after school. ‘Yeah, that is what I will do,’ I thought.
With that thought, my school day went by fast. Suddenly, the final bell rang. I reached the bus before anyone else and asked the bus driver to drop me off at Michael’s stop. He agreed, and I went to my front seat and sat in it.
