Soon a week had passed since Maru had talked with Lilia and Estrelle. However there wasn’t one day where Maru didn’t play with Estrelle. Maru had healed quite a bit. He was able to do most things by himself now. Maru had a hard time getting used to walking and doing things again, as his body had to heal up because of the fight with the Duke.

But soon Maru received some news.

“What?! I’m going to get tutors?!” shouted Maru. Alf wore a face of both wonder and frustration.

It was indeed so. Maru would now receive teachings for two different subjects. Literary Studies and Sword Arts.

As a noble, you must understand literature and be able to follow the basic noble etiquette, maru was not a noble. He was merely a commoner, and so he desperately needed to learn these things. And that meant that the people who’d teach him are also nobles.

“Master, please put your mind at ease, they are of a lower rank than you, so you don’t need to worry too much.”

“It’s not that... I don’t think I’ve ever studied... Will I even do it well..?”

“Of course you will, Master!” 

“How can you say that confidently..?”

“It’s because it’s easy!” 

“Then teach me!” 

“Understood, Master!”

Maru was quite excited that it was easy to learn, except Maru had forgotten just a tiny fact, it was that Alf was naturally very smart, and he could even be called a genius within this house.

The two people who were going to teach Maru were no ordinary people. Ryoko Jin Schwer, a magic swordsmanーwho is said to be only second to the Dukeーwho can single-handedly change the tides of war. The banished prince of the Schwer clan, and the swordsman which brought honor to the Southern-Sword style which was mocked.

Elena, the mage who commands the first magic squad of the Imperial Army. The so-called ‘Blue Devil’, a woman who is said to be so cold-blooded that she wouldn’t hesitate to kill her own family. Though she was an illegitimate child, she was able to rise to the top using her research of magic, and her service in the army. 

The two of them together were enough to take over a small country. That’s how powerful they were.

However, that was the end of that, for now at least. Because Maru wanted to play with Est! (Est is a nickname that Maru made. The little girl was a bit embarrassed, however she was happy.)

Apparently the game that they’d play is Chess. ‘A psychotic mind game that would make anyone give up on their life.’ At least, that’s how Maru sees it. No matter how hard he tries, he just couldn’t win against Est.

Seeing that Maru was quite sad, Alf played against Maru and purposefully lost. Maru was quite happy with the win he got, however it was just a bit pitiful. No, it was VERY pitiful.

However, now that Maru had recovered to a good degree, it meant that he had to get new clothes, as the clothes that Varkhaz previously had wouldn’t fit him. But, Maru was struggling to understand how these suits would cost what he’d earn in an entire year. 

Regardless, he just accepted it and moved on.

Though even then Lilia couldn’t believe something. She had been standing here the entire time, making sure that Estrelle was safe. ‘Varkhaz was seemingly normal..?’ She couldn’t understand, no, it would be more accurate to say that, she refused to understand. It just didn’t make sense to her. Wasn’t he the same boy that tried to kill his own sister? 

However there was one thing that never changed, the eyes of the boy and his servant. Their glares would seemingly freeze you in place, Alf had emerald-green eyes that would pierce into your soul, and the boy had golden eyes that felt like they would burn anything in front of them. 

The eyes of these two never changed, until today, or at least that’s when Lilia had noticed it. The servant’s eyes were normal around the master, and the master’s eyes were normal around his sister. 

‘Does he truly love her..?’ The question kept coming up into Lilia’s head, yet she was, for the first time in her life, unable to make a decision. It wasn’t a lie to say that the young lady had gotten happier, perhaps she just needed acceptance from her family, was it really that simple? 

But lilia could only see what was in front of her, and she had made up her mind. Even if it was something out of this world, she’d just have to accept it and move on. 

Soon, Maru came out of the mansion onto the wide open space in front of it. And then the gate in front of it. The mansion faced north, with a few smaller mansions near it, which is where the vassals of the duke live apparently.

Today was the day that the Sword Arts’ tutor was supposed to arrive, as such all of the mansion staff had assembled in the front to greet him. Afterall he was a count and only second to the duke in combat power.

Maru wore casual clothes, though he wasn’t exactly comfortable in them. He was carrying Est since she asked to be carried. The two had gotten quite close to each other in the short time that they had been together.

Soon a carriage which was black in color with the insignia of a lion arrived in front of the mansion. And out of it came a man, he was Ryoko Jin Schwer, he had hair and pupils that were red in color, he was wearing a tight black coat which had medals embedded in them. He seemed to have worn a cape that was made out of a beasts’ skin. A rapier hung from his hips, it was as though he was ready to fight at any moment.

He walked in front of Maru and said “Ah~ Sorry~ Sorry~ Okay? It took me a long time, did you wait here long, Var?”

“U-uhm no, I’m V-Varkhaz Hon Harqi.” Maru shook his hands.

“Hm... How mean~ You don’t even call me uncle, even though we know each other. Although they did say you lost your memory after all, it’s fine~”

Seeing that Maru was holding Estrelle, Ryoko then said “Oh ho~ You’re estrelle aren’t you?”

Being a bit shy, estrelle replied “Y-yes...”

“Awww~ You’re so cute, aren’t you?”

Alf then came up to the front, gave Ryoko a towel to wipe the sweat off of his forehead, said “I formally welcome you to the Harqi estate, sir.”
