Antonio slowly opened his eyes and found himself in the place he has never been to. The sun was shining brightly and one could see many people around the city. He checked upon himself. His avatar was about five feet ten inches tall with a wheatish complexion. His hairs were black in color, short and straight and were made into a way that enhanced his personality. He had worn a leather tunic, a Blue T-Shirt that came all the way down covering his wrists. A sheathed Shortsword made up of iron hung at his back.
"I think I am into the virtual world. But, It feels so real that I cannot tell the difference." Antonio complimented and took a deep breath to feel the fresh air around him.
Suddenly, Antonio crashed onto a stone and fell down while walking through the field. His palms got in contact with the wet grass which rose up from the ground at a height of 2 cm. He started to observe the grass by rubbing the grass that stuck in his nimble fingers.
"These aren't pixels, it feels real like I am observing a real grass. This truly feels as if I have been transmigrated into a whole new world," exclaimed Antonio.
"Wait! How do I open the menu, I guess Hector told me how to do it." Antonio said to himself as he connected his left index and middle fingers and slowly cut through the mid-air.
Immediately, a panel opened before Antonio. In the middle of the panel, there was a symbol of a shield on which a dragon head was carved. A Sword, a Spear and a Battle- Axe protruded out on either side of the shield. The panel was the menu interface which contained five options on the upper, left and right corner of the symbol. Antonio tapped on the [Skills] option. Another interface appeared before Antonio. It had four different options:
[Weapon Skills]
[Assist Skills]
[Miscellaneous Skills]
"Since I chose Dragon Knight as my class, I can use three different types of weapons. I can use a Sword, One-handed or Two-Handed. A Spear and An Axe. I think I have ten skill points to allot into these three skill categories." Antonio said to himself as he tapped on the [Weapon Skills] category.
Another panel appeared before Antonio showing two different skill categories: [Sword Skill] [Spear Skill]. Without thinking much, Antonio clicked on the [Sword Skill] tab and the skill tree floated before him. There were two initial skills a sword-wielder could learn and follow the skill tree.
[Cleave]: deals damage to more than one enemy. It also has an area of splash damage. Could be further improved. Skill points required: 2
[Slash]: deals lethal damage to one enemy at a time. It also has an area of splash damage. Could be further improved. Skill points required: 1
Furrowing his eyebrows, Antonio allotted 1 skill point to slash. He then opened other skill categories and brought three [Assist Skills] and two [Miscellaneous Skills]. He reopened the tab and check upon his skills:
[Sword Skill]: Slash
[Assist Skill]: Heal, Sprint, and High-Jump
[Miscellaneous Skill]: Tamer Skill, Smith Skill
After allotting his skill points, Antonio opened the [Character] tab and allocated ten attribute points in four Ability scores. He added three points in [Constitution], three points in [Charisma], two points in [Strength] and two points in [Intelligence].
"Okay, At last, everything is set. Now, I should go to the Townhall to reunite with my friend and to take up my first quest." thought Antonio as he activated his sprint skill and swooped past the stone-paved roads of the city of Keldar.
After a few minutes, Antonio reached in front of a huge three-story building made up of grey stones and bricks but actually, it was made up of several codes as the other things in this world. It has a nice green garden in the back. This was the [Town Hall], The place where his new journey would start. Antonio took a deep breath and went inside the Town Hall.
The Town Hall was well designed from inside, the walls were painted in bright colors and there was a huge staircase which led up to the other floors. Antonio walked to the corner of the hall where a small signboard was placed to help new adventurers. He read the signboard to find the designated place where he and his friend Hector were scheduled to meet.
G-Floor: Waiting Hall
1st-Floor: Quest Hall
2nd-Floor: Clan Registration & Maintenance Office
3rd Floor: Town Mayor's Office
Antonio slowly walked towards the staircase and started to climb on it. After climbing for some time he reached the quest hall situated on the first floor of the building. He started scanning the whole floor before his sight stopped at someone. There was a handsome-looking male, the same age as Antonio. He had worn a leather jacket with a hood at the back. Holding a long staff, He was scanning the whole floor with his crescent blue eyes. His skin was a shade darker than Antonio but, his body was well-toned and muscular. He continued scanning the floor until his gaze fell on Antonio.
"Yo Antonio! Come here, brother. We can get a quest for you right here." called Hector while waving his right hand to get the attention of Antonio.
Antonio ran in his direction and stopped after reaching in front of Hector. Both of their eyes met and immediately Antonio hugged Hector. They both held hands and walked passed the counters inside which Non-Player Characters [NPCs] were sitting and several players were hoarding around the counter.
Quest Hall; the place was how it sounded. It was a huge hallway that contained several different counters managed by the Non-Player Characters [NPCs]. These several counters were the place where a player can receive a quest and report a quest. As well as acquire rewards for the completion of Quest.
In Eternal Battlegrounds, the quests were divided into different categories ranging from Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. There are certain possibilities where one could get their hands on [Legendary Quests] but, these quests are very hard to find.
The game also has a certain feature for the creation of quests. Where a player could create quests ranging from Custom, Common, Uncommon and Rare. This feature is only available and utilized by Clans. This feature is commonly utilized by well-established clans who have a stronghold within the World and are on the peak after one month.
Both Antonio and Hector walked until they both reached the second last counter of the hall. It was a dull-looking counter and was very small, only a few people were seen in the queue. Antonio quizzically looked at Hector as he didn't expect to accept the quest from this dull-looking counter. He was not confident about getting good quests from this place.
"What, Why are you giving me that look?" asked Hector.
"Brother, Are you confident that we should, No No, I should take quest from this place?" argued Antonio.
"Don't worry, I was on the beta test and I used to take quests from this place. It offers quests better than those out there and also with less difficulty. We need to get you leveled up faster and trust me this is the best we got." assured Hector.
Antonio turned towards the counter and read the signboard:
(MONSTER AND ITEMS QUESTS)
"Welcome to the MAI (Monster and Items) quest counter. How may I help you?" asked the Non-Player Character [NPC] sitting behind the counter and immediately a blue panel with some options opened before Antonio.
[Take Quests]
[Received Quests]
[Completed Quests]
[Rewards for Quests]
Antonio selected [Take Quests] option and another panel opened which contained the quests' list. He clicked on a quest and read the information:
Quest Information:
Kill 12 Snow Wolves found in the fields outside Red Leaf Town
Quest Rarity: (Uncommon)
Rewards: 1 Skill Point [Assist]
100 Experience Points
2 Attribute Points
1 Mastery points
"Take that quest, I have had fought Snow Wolves before, they are agile and has very high attack speed. But, I had defeated them, not one but many of them," assured Hector as he peeked onto the Quest panel.
"Yeah sure, Mr. Beta Master." teased Antonio as he tapped on [Accept] option.
"Take on some more quests, I can help as I would gain some experience too. Also, I had to run an errand for my guild in the next city," informed Hector.
"You joined a guild, Seriously!?" asked Antonio in a shocked tone.
"Indeed, I know that I was a loner in other MMOs but, I can't be in this one since, It is one new world," replied Hector.
"Yeah, I got that. said Antonio while clicking on another quest and reading it's information.
Quest Information:
Kill 2 Fire Giants found in the Wildwood forest.
Quest Rarity: (Rare)
Rewards: 2 Skill Points (Weapon)
200 Experience Points
6 attribute points
3 Mastery Points
"That one looks fine, Accept it. We need to get through the Wildwood Forest to reach the next city," informed Hector.
"Okay, I will do as you command master." teased Antonio as he clicked on [Accept] Option.
After accepting his first two quests, Antonio along-with Hector walked out of the counter, slowly climbed down the stairs and exited the Town Hall. Both of them looked at each other, ready to embark on their first journey to reach the next city. Both of them again held hands, activated the [Assist Skill], (Sprint) and were about to dash when suddenly, A few purple options started floating before Hector.
"Oh No, I have to [LOG OUT] of this world. I haven't eaten anything since morning and was doing quests," exclaimed Hector.
"What happened, would you mind telling me?" inquired Antonio in an irritated tone.
"Later brother, Got to go. I would be back in twenty minutes. You too can [LOG OUT] till then. I would call you when I am ready." said Hector and vanished from the place.
"Cool, I am also out of this world and now, I would play this game alone if I decide to ever come back to this place." Antonio cursed under his breath.
Antonio quickly connected his left index and middle fingers together, tapped in the air and swiped it down; The initial command for opening the menu. It looked as if, He was doing this for very long and was a habit. But, the reality was different. It could be compared with this World which is made up of several codes and the real world which is made up of different elements. Antonio tapped on the [Settings] option and scrolled down the list until he reached the last.
"What! Where is the [LOG OUT] button, I cannot find it at the last." cried Antonio as he again scrolled up and down through the list.
"I am not able to find the [LOG OUT] button anywhere," muttered Antonio and ran to a female player standing nearby.
"Excuse me, madam, Would you please help me with something?" Antonio asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Ya sure, What would you need help with?" replied the female player softly.
"I need to [LOG OUT] but, I am not able to find it anywhere. Could you please show me the way?" pleaded Antonio.
"Ya, First open the [Menu], Go to the [Settings] Option and scroll down the list. At the last, you would find the [LOG OUT] button. See, there it is." explained the female player and pointed at her panel.
"It is there in your panel. But, I don't have a [LOG OUT] button in mine," said Antonio.
"Wait, What do you mean, show me." suggested the female player.
"Okay, wait," said Antonio and opened the [Settings] and scrolled down the list. The last option was [Contact Game Master] instead of [LOG OUT].
The female player looked into the panel and saw that the last option was [LOG OUT] button and felt that this new player is fooling around wasting her time and went away without saying anything. Antonio sat on the left corner of the street and cried while hiding his face with his arms.
This World took away his reality and swapped his Real World into a Virtual World and Virtual World into a Real World. The World, he loved was now gone forever and he didn't know what to do. Where to go. Whom to ask for help. He just sat in the corner and cried.
The players and other Non-Player Characters ignored his presence after giving a glance to him. Antonio is alone in this new world. No family, few friends who are able to [LOG OUT] and would not believe his words.
