Aizen's POV
It is that time of year again. Thanksgiving. I know some don’t celebrate this type of thing but in this family, Thanksgiving’s pretty huge. One, because we're Canadian and two, a family tradition. Not complaining though. Admittingly the best time of the year for me considering the huge amounts of food on the table that actually tastes good. It's better than Christmas.
I continue to fill my thoughts with food as I was on my phone in the living room with Keanu next to me, his hand covered in crumbs as he loudly munched on chips. I furrow my brows at his poor table manners but say nothing. I’m too tired to touch on that topic with him.
I continue to scroll through my Twitter feed when Keanu suddenly nudges me at my side with his elbow.
“Hey, you do realize it’s almost Thanksgiving, yeah?” he questions.
“Dude, since when have I ever forgotten? I’m already daydreaming about all the food we’ll be having,” I stated as a matter-of-factly.
“Right. So, I was thinking of inviting Seth?” his eyes slightly wide and his lips pursed.
“Why? He’d just flake out and continue grinding as if his life depends on it.” I eyed curiously him, my brows furrowing again. “Happens almost every year, you know that.”
“Yeah well, this time I wanna grind with him.” He eyes me back.
“You? Grind? With Seth?”
“Uhh, yeah.”
I scoff amusingly. Keanu furrows his brows at this. He puts on his thinking face for a while before realizing what I said.
“WHAT? NO! THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT MAN!”
I broke out into a fit of laughter at his flustered reaction.
“Calm down Keanu,” I breathe between laughs. “It was a joke. Besides, why is it that Sir Libertine becomes flustered over something like that? It’s not like it’s our first time making dirty jokes.” I raise a brow.
“Seth. We were talking about Seth. Seth plus the dirty stuff ain’t my cup of tea.” Keanu says, his hands flying around making gestures to fit his sentence.
“That is kinda true,” I chuckle.
“Besides, it’s not just about grinding GAMES,” he emphasizes the last word.
“Mhm?” I nodded, biting my lip to prevent a smile from creeping out.
“I have some… important matters to discuss with him about.”
“Like what?”
“You know, like, stuff…” My stomach drops a little at this.
“Stuff you can’t tell me?”
“No, no, man, I meant..” he trails off, searching for the right words to say.
Nothing. I swallowed hard.
“Alright,” I broke the silence, my voice cracking a little. “That’s cool, I won’t question you further.”
Keanu visibly tenses at my slightly pained tone of voice. I got up from the sofa we were sitting on and made my way to the door. He grabs me by the wrist.
“Zen, you know that’s not what I meant.” His eyes went soft when they met mine.
“Yeah, I know,” I muttered lowly. I broke the physical contact and slowly walked myself out of the room, hesitating a little before closing the door behind me.
Just when I thought I had someone to turn to.
