Lu Jun Yu silently turned to leave after the girl told him she didn't want to stay any longer. He didn't even waste a glance at the boy who had just offended the girl. From their interactions, it was clear this was not the first time something like that happened. Mo Shin Yun sighed silently burying his head in one of the books no longer interested in what was happening when suddenly a voice behind him sounded. "Junjun." Confused and really taken aback by the nauseating sweetness in that voice Mo Shin Yun turned around to see who just called out to them.
The boy wasn't older than Mo Shin Yun probably around seventeen. His face was round and he had a small pointy nose his eyes looked like they were just a little too big and his skin a little too soft. In his previous world, Mo Shin Yun would have called someone like that a trap. He could have been a boy or a girl if not for his clothing being that of a boy. His lips were full and currently puckered out as he skipped over to cling onto Lu Jun Yu's arm. Without any change in expression, Lu Jun Yu pulled away his arm continuing to walk towards the exit. With a sigh, the girl followed him elegantly moving herself between Lu Jun Yu and the boy as if that too was something that would happen regularly.
Mo Shin Yun let out another sigh as he finally saw the group walk away. Before they disappeared for a second, he had the feeling someone was looking at him but as soon as he looked up the group was gone and there was no one else there. Shaking off the feeling he finally buried himself in the books about ShuCha he found.
As he had expected ShuCha was a path of cultivation. Probably the most difficult one between the three paths that were found in this world. Currently, he was reading about the basics of cultivation in this world:
First was the cultivation through martial arts. Those who were able to form a golden core within their soul were able to follow this path. After the great war, it was the most pursued path since probably one in a hundred people were able to form a golden core by themselves and about ten in a hundred were able to do so if they had help from spiritual pills or spiritual food. Those perusing the path of the golden core cultivation were many but even so, there weren't many who broke through to the higher levels. Apparently, golden core cultivation other than the other two paths didn't solemnly rely on the soul strength to break through and thus it took both luck and inherent talent to be able to reach a higher level. This path of cultivation had 12 ranks which were diverted into low mid and high level. Each level had four sub-level of which each had once more a low mid and high level. The ranks were as followed:
Man, Earth Moon and Sky: Low-level ranks also called the Human power realm.
Royal, Imperial, Supreme and Emperor: Mid-level ranks also called the Court power realm.
Spiritual, Transcendent, Divine and Immortal: High-level ranks also called the ethereal power realm.
The second was the cultivation through pill refining. Those following this path were devoting themselves to helping and healing people. Only one in a thousand people was able to manipulate their soul force into forming a core flame which was necessary to refine pills. Other than that, the priests and priestess were a tightly knit society keeping to themselves. Like, martial artists, they had different ranks depending on how good there were at refining pills. Before the great war, it was said that legendary priests had roomed the world their spiritual pills nearly as powerful as spiritual food. After the war, many of the powerful spiritual herbs that had said to exist in the old days didn't exist anymore and the pills had lost their power now being useful as medicine but no longer held the power to help with cultivation. The priest ranks were only a few but each step from one rank to the next was significant: Novice, acolyte, priest/priestess and high priest/priestess.
The last path was that of ShuCha. This was the path Mo Shin Yun would walk. It was the most difficult path and only one in every five thousand people were even able to walk this path. Similar to the path of pill refining those cultivating through ShuCha had to form a soul flame but different from the flame of the pill refiner this flame had to be bound to one of the five elements. Further, did they need to be awake and had to have both mental and physical endurance to be able to cultivate through this method. Lastly, ShuCha completely relied on the strength of the soul different souls had different strength and your inherited talent was shown in your soul colour. This colour decided how far you would be able to go and how strong you would be able to become. As Mo Shin Yun expected his colour wasn't that strong but it also wasn't the worst as everybody had told him before his yellow-coloured soul was a low-mid-level soul. As martial artists, ShuCha were divided into low mid and high level. Within each level were three colours within each colour was once more a division between low, mid, high and panicle of the colour. The Colours were ranked as followed:
Magenta, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Indigo, Violet
In all of the west land was only one such violet ShuCha practitioner.
With a deep sigh, Mo Shin Yun closed the book storing all those information inside his head. If he had known that this world was this complicated, he would have taken along a notebook or something so he could write it all down. Looking up wondered what time it was since the library was underground and light up every hour of the day he really couldn't tell. At this point, he could only rely on his stomach telling him that it was definitely time to eat since he hadn't eaten even since he had transmigrated into this body. With a low sigh, he grabbed the last book he wanted to read which was on the basics of ShuCha so he would know how it worked before going into class tomorrow. The book in one hand he put the others back where he found them walking towards the entrance.
Cho Ma Yong the librarian looked up as he approached her a smile was showing around her eyes. "You have spent hours researching did you find what you were looking for?" She asked her eyes lowering to the book in his hand. Mo Shin Yun nod rubbing his nose a little embarrassed. "Yes, I did but I couldn't finish all the book is it possible to borrow some books?" He asked since some of the books looked rather important and he didn't want to assume anything. "Definity as long as you return them within a week you can borrow whatever book you one from the first outer layer the rules for the other layers are a little different but we will get to that once you are allowed in. Just this book?" She asked as she looked at the book he was holding again. Mo Shin Yun nod. "For now, just this book." With a smile, the woman turned away to grab a small bamboo slate.
"I need your signature for the book and then you can take it." She said handing him a brush. Mo Shin Yun starred at it for a short second before taking it and writing down the name he had seen before on his nameplate lucky he remembered how to write his own name. With a nod, the slate was put away again and Mo Shin Yun returned the jade token leaving the library with the book in his hands. "Lucky I was forced to take calligraphy for one semester or else I would have given myself away for not being able to use a brush." He whispered to himself in high spirits. His writing wasn't pretty but at least it didn't look like it was his first time.
Now all he needed to do was find someplace to get food since during his morning tour of the place no one had shown him a cafeteria or any restaurant or anything like that. "Mo Shin Yun." His thoughts were interrupted and he turned around to find Wang Ha Yon standing at the end of the path he just walked on. "Wang Ha Yon. It's good to see you again last time I didn't even have time to say thank you for taking care of me." Mo Shin Yun spoke with a smile as he saw her. The girl chuckled as she approached him. "What are you doing here?" Holding up the book Mo Shin Yun quickly told her about his search for the library and how he found it making the Wang Ha Yon laugh even more. "After you know it isn't difficult to find but at first it is a little confusing." She nodded along agreeing to his words.
"Are you on your way to the hospital pavilion?" Mo Shin Yun asked since it was the right direction but she shook her head. "It's dinner time I'm on the way to the dining hall. Do you want to come along? All divisions are eating at the same place since it is more convenient. Since you were in the library until now you must be starving." Mo Shin Yun nodded his head eagerly he couldn't believe his luck just before he had hoped to find a place to eat and now, he found someone willing to show him the way.
As they were walking through the winding hallways and along the paths leading through different gardens Wang Ha Yon was constantly talking her mouth only stopping here and there whenever Mo Shin Yun managed to get in a question. After walking like that they finally reached a big open hall with long rows of tables on tree sided two steps lead up to the platform over which a big roof, held up by columns every few meters, was spanning. The fourth side was closed off with only a long window in the wall through which you could see an enormous kitchen. The kitchen was filled with young men and women all wearing different coloured robes all indicating the different soul colours ShuCha practitioner had. Mo Shin Yun smiled as he smelled the delicious smell of food.
"Let's hurry and get in line before the best food is gone." Wang Ha Yon hurried him along towards a row of people waiting to get food. As soon as they stood in line Wang Ha Yon turned back around to him continuing to tell him about all the different rumours, she had gotten her hands on. If in this world tabloid papers exist this girl would probably be the main publisher, she knew everything about everyone. While standing in line she constantly pointed out one disciple or another whispering as she would tell him all different things about that disciple.
Mo Shin Yun stood there listening nodding his head here and there and telling her whenever the line was moving other than that he didn't have much to do. Until a teal-coloured robe rushed past him nearly pushing him over. With an annoyed huff, Mo Shin Yun caught his balance ready to give whoever that was an ear full but the person was already rushing through the hall with a nausea-inducing "Junjun." On his lips. Mo Shin Yun could only sigh it was the same boy he had seen in the library and he really didn't want anything to do with him.
"Careful you should stay away from him." Wang Ha Yon next to him whispered her face showing excitement as if she just discovered a gold mine apparently that guy had a lot of stories and rumours about him. "Who is he?" Mo Shin Yun asked and with a smile, the girl started talking. "That's Lan Chi Yang. He is from the ShuCha division so in a way he is your senior but you really don't have to treat him like one." She sighed turning a little so she didn't have to look at him or as if she wanted to hide the fact that she was talking bad about him.
"He is the youngest son of the second in command of the ShuCha division and because of that, he thinks he is something special. Last year he managed to break through to the Orange level and was praised for being able to advance this fast at such a young age total pumping up his ego even more and now he thinks he is some kind of genius even though his soul colour is only teal he acts like a one day will be a high-level ShuCha practitioner. Not that teal is in any way a weak soul it's just not high level. And the worst thing is he always compares himself to us girls telling us how he is prettier than us and how if we changed this or that about ourselves, we might be able to look even a little like him but at the same time we just aren't born with his looks so we would never be as pretty." She sighed turning around to grab a tray as they finally reached the food counter.
"And to put the cherry on top a few months ago he started to follow Lu Jun Yu everywhere acting like they are a couple and even lying about their relationship. Because of that Lu Jun Yu even got in trouble with his master. But because Grandmaster Lan adores his youngest grandson to no end and Grandmaster Lan is one of the most powerful in the circle of the elder no one can actually take action against him so he always acts spoiled and lashes out on other and everyone has to accept it especially the division master or else they might lose their position and as one of the head disciple Lu Jun Yu can't put his master's name in jeopardy thus all he can do is endure this clingy little brad."
Wang Ha Yon continued to whisper as she received her food shooting a pitiful look at Lu Jun Yu who was currently trying his best to ignore Lan Chi Yang who was currently putting all his effort into getting his attention. Mo Shin Yun could only sigh he really felt sorry for the poor guy having to keep up with someone like that. "Let's sit down over there." Wang Ha Yon spoke up pointing at a few empty seats a little further away for the kitchen.
