Making her way forward to the monsters, Fei held onto her spearham tightly as she pierced through the woolly's in front of her. Simultaneously, she quickly changed the projection of her weapon as she smacked them away, swiftly sending the monsters over to Damian.
"Damian, now!" Fei shouted out.
The moment she did so, Damian who was fighting against a dandelion-like monster quickly noticed the two woolly's coming straight at him. Without any hesitation, he gripped onto his twin-swords as he sliced through them, speedily turning them to grey ash.
However, not a second later, he swiftly averted his gaze away from the monsters who had disappeared, quickly moving his attention back to the flying dandelion-like monster, Daliean. With one step forward, he slashed at the monster.
"K-Kiik!" The Daliean cried out as it dodged the attack. Moments later, white petals flew around the monster as it shot forward to Damian.
"...!!" Noticing the attack one-second too late, Damian slightly stumbled back. But, not a second later, he quickly got himself back together as he held onto one of his swords in a parrying position, in hopes of fending off against the attack.
Just as the white petals was about to fly out from the monster's body, loud footsteps rang out from the side of it, as an edge of a hammer greeted the monster, colliding with one another.
"K-kikk..." The monster cried out once again as it was slammed into a tree. The attacks that the Daliean sent out flew all over the place as it hit nothing but air. This was due to the fact that it had lost its target when Fei smacked the monster.
"...phew! That does it!" Fei said with a sigh of relief as she turned to Damian. "You better thank me for that!"
"...do I have to?" Damian glared in response. "If you hadn't sent those woolly's to me... maybe then I wouldn't have gotten too caught up in that monster's attack."
"Hah?!" Fei blinked at Damian's reply. "Is that the reply I get for saving you?!"
"...ahem. Thank you," Damian coughed. "Though my point still stands."
"Hey, all I wanted to do was give you some credit in the fight," Fei pouted.
"What credit...? I clearly did most of the work..."
"That's cause I gave you the chance to deal the finishing touches!" she gave a thumbs up to Damian.
"...sigh," he shook his head helplessly as he made way towards the spots where the monsters had fallen. Quickly, he bent down as he picked up what seemed to be small coloured crystals lying on the ground.
"How many mana cores did we get?" Fei asked as she walked towards Damian.
"...counting the ones that we got earlier, we got six. Five low-grade earth crystal shards and one low-grade wind crystal shard," Damian said as he stood up. Soon after, he turned towards Fei as he showed her the crystals that he picked up.
Mana cores, or in other words, mana crystals was a material in which dropped when killing monsters. These crystals are used in many sorts of things, such as technological purposes to powering up one's pocket.
There were many types of mana crystals, each being categorized into different classes. From grade to elements. At times, the refinement of one's crystal would also be taken into account in the categorization.
The arts of mana was not so easy for one to use. This was due to the complications of having to use a medium, such as pockets to be able to connect one's spiritual magi to an output.
However not only that, but there was also the complication of having one's soul resonating with an element, thus allowing for better usages of said element. Consequently, the categorization of a mana crystal becomes more important.
"Eh, only six? I expected more!" she raised her brow. "I could've sworn we fought at least eight!"
"That's just your imagination," Damian said as he placed the crystals into his pouch. "We only fought against six."
"Well then what are you waiting for? Let's go and get the four remaining crystals!"
"I think over there would be nice to check out," he pointed towards an area on the west side of the forest.
...
Rushing through the dirt pathway of the Jade Forest, Fei hurriedly leapt forward as she hurriedly struck at the monsters that lunged towards her. Upon the collision of her hammer to the monsters, they were slightly pushed back as they entered into a stunned state.
Quickly, from behind Fei, came Damian who swiftly activated his mana, with his eyes growing a yellow hue, he quickly manoeuvred around the monsters, striking at them skillfully.
"Fei, mana!" Damian shouted out whilst jumping high up into the air.
"Right on it!" With her weapon in hand, a gush of wind blew around the tip of the spear, as she quickly sprung forward. Soon after, she protruded her spear forward as she sent the gush of wind over towards the monsters that were still stagnated from the strikes earlier.
At that moment, the monsters that were hit by Fei's attack was pushed upwards towards Damian and in the next second, Damian pushed himself down to the monsters as he dealt the final blow.
"Kiikk...!!" The monsters screamed as they turned into grey ash,
"That should be it." Landing onto the ground, Damian sheathed his sword as he calmly walked towards the pile of crystals on the ground. "With these four, we should be done for the exam."
"Finally!" Fe jumped for joy. "Now we can finally turn in the exam and finally be pronounced official guild rankers!"
"Aha, you still have the energy to head back right?"
"Yes, yes, I do!" she nodded energetically. "Now, we should hurry back! The sooner we turn in the exam, the better! First to head back to town is the winner!" With a step forward, she rushed out of the forest.
"...hey...!" Just as Damian was about to stop Fei from rushing off, Fei had already left the scene. "..sigh. You haven't had breakfast yet... how on earth do you still have the stamina to spare..."
Unable to find the answer to his question, Damian helplessly walked forward. "Argh, whatever..." he sighed, as he quickly followed after Fei.
