Okay.
Remember when I said that I wouldn't freak out?
I lied.
I was currently freaking out and badly.
"Luffy, you have to calm down," Cloud told me as he tried to calm me down but I couldn't, not after what he just told me.
"Are you crazy?" I shouted at him, "How can you ask me to calm down after what you just told me? Cloud, if you are joking tell me now because this isn't a funny."
"I'm not joking. It's the truth," he said and I shook my head.
"No, it can't be true," I said as I tried to control myself. Okay. Maybe I was starting to get into denial. Or maybe this night was all a dream and I was going to wake up very soon.
Cloud sighed and he tried to touch me but I backed away. He was right. Sometimes the truth was more horrible than you might think. But sometimes it could also be dangerous to know the truth and unfortunately for me, I was currently in danger.
"Luffy," Cloud started calmly, "I can promise you that nothing will happen to you. I'm going to protect you. Amelia isn't ever going to come near you."
"But she doesn't need to," I said, "She is going to kill me, isn't she?"
"No, she won't. I won't let her do anything to you," Cloud promised me and I gradually started to calm down.
Cloud had told me the truth about Amelia. He had told me, who she was? And what she was? He told me about her past and at first I pitied her but then when I understood what she was going to do to me, I really started to freak out.
Amelia Gioras came from a noble family. Her parents were very rich and they were known for their kindness. Amelia was their only child and they were happy as it was. They loved her, like everyone else did.
Amelia was of an extreme beauty and that was why the contenders to marry her were enormous. All of those men, there was one thing that attracted them to Amelia. And it was her eyes.
Amelia was beautiful but her eyes were ever more. They were of light blue, so gentle that nobody could resist them. And for Amelia, her eyes were the most precious thing in her life.
But when she turned seventeen, she made the most big mistake of her life: she fell in love with the wrong man and it costed her, her life.
The man, she fell in love with, was after their money but like the other contenders, he too was attracted to Amelia's eyes. We could say he fell in love with them.
At the night of their wedding, after the ceremony, the man tied Amelia to the bed before cutting her throat opened using a shape knife. But that blow didn't kill her immediately. What killed her, was when he removed her eyes from their orbit using the same knife.
Amelia's parents were completely destroyed by her death. So they did the most horrible thing that was possible. They basically sold theirs souls to the devil by going to see a man who could bring their daughter back to life.
The man wasn't who they thought he was. He was something else. A person who loved to control souls, to manipulate them as he wished.
The man accepted to help them and as promised, Amelia was brought back to life. But she wasn't the same. What she became was an horrible thing who only wanted revenge for the damage done to her.
The way she died, would be the way you died. Cloud's own words.
"What is she going to do to me?" I asked Cloud.
"Nothing," he replied and I felt the tears forming into my eyes. He was lying.
"You're lying. What is she going to do?" I asked again but Cloud remained silent, "Answer me!"
Cloud sighed before he passed one hair through his hair and he looked at me with pleading eyes. I knew what he wanted. He wanted me to calm down but I couldn't. I simply couldn't. I wanted to know, the horrible truth. Cloud saw that I wasn't going to change my mind and he sighed again.
"Amelia formed part of the cursed ones," He said finally and I looked at him with teary eyes, "The cursed ones are those who can't find peace after death. They are tormented by the night of their death. They are in pain, but then this pain changed into hate before changing into vengeance.
When the man brought Amelia to life, it's not the good girl who he brought back but the one who wanted revenge. The one who wanted to kill, to feel blood on her hands.
And that's exactly what she did. She found the man who killed her and did the same thing he did to her. She cut his throat opened before removing his eyes. But she didn't stop here.
Amelia then got a particular hate for men, specially the ones with beautiful eyes. Now what she does is finding a man with gorgeous eyes before she marks him. The mark is a form of warning. A warning that says that she is coming to get you. The mark can be in diferent form like-"
"Like burning the wrist of someone," I finished for Cloud and he nodded slowly. Okay, now I was more than freaking out.
"Luffy-" Cloud started but I cut him off.
"Let me guess. She is going to cut my throat open before removing my eyes," I said and Cloud didn't reply anything. He didn't have to. The way he was looking at me told me everything. I was right.
"I'm going to die," I concluded at last and Cloud shook his head.
"No, you are not going to die. I already told you that I'm going to protect," Cloud told me and I looked at him in disbelief.
"Protect me? Can you tell me how you are going to do that? Do you have magical powers who can kill a ghost?" I asked him with a raising voice.
"Amelia isn't a ghost. She is more of a soul who can manipulate different human body. She normally takes the appearance of someone who can easily approach her victims without them even noticing. Her true appearance is too horrible to be seen," Cloud informed me.
"Like the appearance of a little girl?" I asked and he nodded.
Okay. I understood now. I had a strong liking for children. I didn't know why but children had always the power to bring me joy. I liked to take care of them and played with them.
But when I have seen this little girl at the party, I didn't feel anything but fear.
I understood why now.
"How do you know all of those things about her?" I asked Cloud and he sighed.
"Because a few years ago, she tried to kill me," he told me and my eyes widened.
"But you are still alive," I said in surprise.
"What? You wanted me death?" he asked me and I shook my head.
"How did you survive?" I asked him suspiciously. Cloud was hiding something and whatever it was, he didn't want me to find out.
"I'm not like the most of people," he told me, "When she tried to kill me, she didn't come in the form of a little girl, she came in the form of beautiful lady who got an interest into me. We were at a bar and she was making drink very much to get me drunk. She told me her story without specifically telling me that, that girl, Amelia, was her. She made me pity her, which is the main reason why she is still alive now. Frederick was right, I should have get rid of her years ago."
"You didn't answer my question, Cloud. How did you survive?" I asked again, getting impatient and Cloud smiled at me.
"I'm not like the most of people, Luffy. When Amelia tried to mark me, she didn't know who I was and it didn't turn out well for her," he told me.
"What are you then?" I asked him and he smiled at me.
"I'm something else," he replied and then we heard screaming coming from the house.
"The cops are here," we heard someone shout and then we could hear the police sirens.
"Finally, they are here. I thought that they would never come," I said as I looked at everyone running away while screaming through the door.
"Cloud, mission complete. The barrier is put," I heard someone said from behind me and I jumped. I turned around to see Cale and Calum standing.
"How did you get here?" I asked them in disbelief. I didn't ever see them coming through the door.
Cale and Calum gave me a look which meant 'It's better if you don't know' and then turned their attention to Cloud who seemed to ponder something.
"Alright then," Cloud said finally, "We are going to wait till everyone is out of the house before we lure Amelia out of her hiding place."
"What are you going to do to her?" Cale asked Cloud and he looked at him.
"I'm going to kill her." Was Cloud's reply.
"Kill her?" I repeated and he nodded.
"This seem to be promising," Calum said and Cale groaned.
"Cool. More work for me," Cale said miserably.
"Stop being a lazy ass," Calum scolded his twin.
"And how exactly are you going to do that?" I asked Cloud.
"Like he did the other times," Calum replied for Cloud and I made an expression of surprise.
Good to know that it wasn't the first time Cloud killed someone.
"What are you? All of you?" I asked them and they all looked at me, "Are you hunters or something like that?"
What I said seemed to be amusing since Cloud and the others started to laugh really loud. I sighed before looking back at the door. There was no sight of anyone now and the house was extremely silent. I no longer heard the sound of the sirens also.
Were they all gone so fast?
I didn't even seen the cops passed by there.
I thought I was going crazy when I saw Frederick and Rain coming outside through the door. But what surprised me, was the fact that their clothes were bloody.
"What happened?" I shouted at them as I ran towards them. I arrived in front of Frederick and I gave him worried eyes.
"Don't worry, Luffy," he told me, "It's not my blood."
"Cloud, we have a problem," Rain said, "Amelia is not alone."
"What?" Cale asked in surprise.
"The Vins. They are helping her. That's why you didn't sense her when she came into the house," Frederick replied and Cloud cursed under his breath. But me, I was more confused than I was before.
"Who are the Vins?" I asked.
"Killers," Calum replied like he was in a sort of trance.
"Fuck! Amelia is a real bitch. How dare she bring the Vins here?" Cale asked no one in particular.
"What an horrible thing to say about me, Cale," we heard a petit voice said and we all froze in place. That voice.
Despite the fear bulding inside of me, I slowly turned around. And there she was, Amelia Gioras sitting on the grass. She was smiling at us, two black holes in the place of her eyes.
I understood now.
Her eyes were completely black. It was because the man she loved, removed her eyes. There was nothing less apart from two black holes.
For some reasons, I couldn't take my eyes away from hers. At least, at what remained of her eyes. I suddenly felt like crying, I wanted to cry so badly. I didn't know why but I felt in pain, in horrible pain. Then I did what most people would have done in my place.
I screamed.
My eyes.
They hurt.
My eyes closed by themselves as I felt to the ground but before I felt the impact with the soil, strong arms wrapped around my body and I instantly knew who it was.
"Frederick," I whispered in pain.
"I'm here little cousin," he said as he continued to hug.
"My eyes hurt," I whispered as I tried to open my eyes but in vain.
"I know. You are going to be fine, don't worry," he said before shouting, "Fuckin' bitch, what are you doing to him?"
"Absolutely nothing," I heard Amelia replied, "It's not me."
"You're lying," Frederick shouted at her.
"No, she is telling the truth," I heard Rain said.
"It's the Vins," Cloud said before he cursed under his breath.
"Oops. The boy has no chance," Amelia sneered, "The Vins are going to torture him. They are marking him, Cloud which mean only one thing. They are going to come for him and when they do, the boy is going to regret that I didn't kill him myself."
Amelia laughed loudly after saying that and me, I was more scared than I already was before. I wanted to cry but the tears wouldn't fall as my eyes were hurting so much.
Then suddenly, I felt a warm hand on my cheek and I immediately knew that it was Cloud. His hand stayed on my cheek while he kissed me on the forehead.
"Frederick," Cloud said, "Make sure Luffy is not watching. I'm going to kill Amelia once and for all."
I wanted to protest, to say something but my voice seemed to be stuck in my throat. Frederick took my head and buried it in his chest to prevent me from seeing Cloud. But even if he didn't, I wouldn't have seen anything. My eyes wouldn't open.
I was wondering why Cloud didn't want me to see him killing Amelia, but then I heard her scream and I understood. Her scream was the most horrible thing that I ever heard. She pleaded him to spare her life but to no use.
It made me wondering. What was he doing to her? Was it so horrible that I couldn't see it with my own eyes? Maybe Cloud was afraid? He was afraid of what I would think of him, if I saw the real him.
What felt like hours of screaming finally stopped. The screaming of pain of Amelia stopped and it soon fell completely silent. I felt Frederick sighed in relief and soon after, his arms around me were removed to be replaced with other arms.
Cloud.
Despite the pain, I tried to open my eyes and after seconds of trying I finally succeeded. But when I opened them and saw Cloud's face, I wished I never could open my eyes.
Blood.
He was covered with blood. But not his blood, her blood. His face was covered with Amelia's blood. I felt like crying again and this time, my tears really fell down my cheeks.
Cloud just smiled at me and it made me cry even more. With his bloody hand, he slowly wiped my tears away.
"I'm sorry for what happened tonight," he told me, "I never wanted to hurt you. I wanted to keep you safe by hiding you from the truth about me, the horrible truth of my world. You need to stop searching for answers, Luffy. Stop trying to know the truth about me. It will only put you in even more danger than you already are."
"Cloud," Rain said from behind him, "The Vins had run away. We have a big problem in our hands."
I looked at Cloud with questioning eyes but he only smiled at me. He then kissed me on the lips. This kiss was different from the last one. It was a bit more caring, a bit more gentle. Cloud then pulled away and I immediately missed the feeling of his lips on mine.
"Cloud, what are you going to do?" Frederick asked him.
"I'm going to erase his memory," he replied and my eyes widened, "I'm going to make you forget everything that happened tonight, Luffy. You will have no recollection of tonight's events. But don't worry, it's better like this."
Why couldn't I speak?
Why were the words stuck in my throat?
Cloud kissed me on the forehead and I suddenly felt sleepy. I tried to fight it but I couldn't.
"Go to sleep, darling," Cloud murmured near my ear, "When you will wake up, everything will go away. The pain, the memory. But don't be afraid of being in the dark, because where there is darkness, there is me and I will always be there to protect you, no matter what."
My eyes closed after hearing his words. But there was one question in my head before I felt darkness surround me.
What was going to happen now?
