Amid the moist forest, I follow Sasha closely as we bypass multiple trees, bushes, vines, and so on.
The atmosphere is humid as the intense heat of the sun can be felt despite the protection of the tree's leaves, which makes me wonder how Sasha isn't being affected by this. Whatever is it that she's doing to avoid it, I'm envious.
The sweat going down my body serves as proof of the trial I'm facing.
"Stop! I've found a group of wolves... More specifically they're great wolves and even though, I believe we have better chances than we would with tenku wolves, I think we should look for other targets."(Sasha)
I could feel some worry in her words as she said that, with a serious tone and leaving the impression of some expertise in her words.
"Hm, then let's trust your judgment. I don't want to take on any unnecessarily risky encounters."(Protagonist)
I say very surely since I find it unnecessary for us to face enemies that could endanger us right now. Also, looking at the wolves they seem quite capable, they are larger than normal wolves and have their upper canines coming out of their mouths, as well as an unusual amount of black fur. If I had to compare them to anything, I would say look like some kind of prehistoric wolves.
I don't believe it would be worth it at all, to risk it and fight them. I would like to see their status but they are too far for me to do it, so in the ended I believe it's better to just trust Sasha's judgment and not get into a fight that could lead to unnecessary death.
"Then, I think I can sense something in that direction."(Sasha)
After I agreed to look for other targets, Sasha immediately focused, and not long after she found something then lead the way, and I followed thinking that someday I would have to challenge these great wolves.

Today in the morning while I was washing my hair, I felt the mana of the goblin getting closer but then he stopped and after a while came closer.
I don't know if he's spying on me, or if there was a different reason but I still can't put myself to trust this creature, he's so unusual and seems to have little to no self-awareness about that fact.
After I formed a party with him, he seemed very hurried to go and hunt, it could be a trap, or he could just really want to get himself food, it's really hard to tell. Even so, I decided to go on with this not only because I'm interested and curious about this goblin, but I also legitimately want to pay him back for looking after me when I fainted and was defenseless. He could have just taken advantage of me at that moment but he didn't and that bugs me, even some humans would have taken the chance without batting an eye, so why is it that a goblin, a monster race know for their evil lust, didn't?
Even with all of that taken into account, what surprises me the most about him is his mana pool, he has an unusually high mana pool especially considering the fact he doesn't seem to properly know how to use magic. What an odd case, was this why I was sent here? Is this a part of my so-called grand destiny? I wish I knew the answer...
I'll just do what I agreed to and continue my travels before they find me, I must reach him. The man known as the 'Needle God'- Layren youth, one of the strongest elemental masters of 'Soyre' the 7th continent.
I still can't believe I have to meet a legend! I hope he's as handsome as the rumors say!!! But I still don't get why I had to come all the way here to meet him.
After talking to the goblin this morning he agreed to let me lead since I can detect monsters by locating their mana presence, with my <Mana detection> skill.
I and the goblin walked for a while and he seemed to be having a hard time with the heat, but I don't have such problems since I'm an amazing prodigy with tools on my level, my robe has temperature adjustment so I'm fine.
In actuality, while the goblin was following me I could feel the presence of a few small magical beasts here and there, but they aren't good enough for me to test this goblin. If we are going to be fighting together for a while I want to understand what he's capable of, not to mention I'm very curious about him and what to know if he really is as special as he seems.
He doesn't seem to be like what I know about goblins and if his talent in magic and combat are as impressive as I expect, I might just decide to train him and make him my familiar! Us mages can make any creature into our familiars as long as they agree, all that's needed is a magical soul contract to bind us to our familiar... We can even summon familiars but that has a low rate of success and most summoned familiars aren't competent.
The biggest problem is that once you are bound to a familiar both sides must agree to sever the bond or one of you must die, and the second option is a big problem since a lot of times summoned familiars, have their lives bound to their mage.
Mages aren't the only ones that can have soul-bound companions, but that's not a matter that really interests me.
In the, I lead the goblin to some great wolves to see if he's foolish enough to try and fight them, after all, no matter how much potential he may have he's just a citizen rank goblin.
To my satisfaction, he thought it through and decided to not face them, if he decided to go the other way I would have killed the wolves and settled my scores with him by saving his life, after all, great wolves like those are just rank G monsters.
Following his decision, I close a group of enemies that seem adequate to test his combat prowess, now that I know he's not just a brainless greedy monster like I was taught goblins are, even the intellectual ones.
"These are the ones I found, it seems to a group of 3 goblins. 2 rank I and 1 citizen rank just like you."(Sasha)
I said to the goblin with confidence as we reached our destination, now I'm anxious to see how he'll fare in combat, I really hope I finally found a worthy candidate of being my familiar.

"These are the ones I found, it seems to a group of 3 goblins. 2 rank I and 1 citizen rank just like you."(Sasha)
She said to me with a tone of self-praise, it seems she's proud of her ability and usefulness.
(Wait? How does she know their ranks? Does she have an appraisal-type skill?)(Protagonist)
The doubt surges in mind as the possibility of her having an appraisal-type appears.
"How do you know their ranks just from looking?"(Protagonist)
The doubt in my mind had to be answered since this might mean she knows, what I am, and my condition as both a reincarnator and an otherworlder.
"Oh... So you don't even know that... I see, to put it simply you can see that just by looking at their bodies and physical traits."(Sasha)
She seemed surprised to hear me ask this question then simply shook her head and proceeded to explain, and while she explained, she stopped to turn her head towards the group of goblins then continued.
"Look at these three for example, don't you see any differences?"(Sasha)
As soon as she said so and asked to discern the differences, I actually paid attention to them and I could see a clear difference that I didn't pay attention to before.
"Two of them have a much better physical than the last one, they have a more muscular constitution while the last one looks frail and even slightly older."(Protagonist)
I said as I observed the two rank I goblins holding their weapons with energy and a slightly intimidating aura, while the last one felt more like something I could take on without using any tricks.
"That's it, you saw the basic differences. Being able to discern wild monsters from one another, is an essential skill if you want to survive outside civilian or just for adventurers in general. Of course, my exceptional self has such ability."(Sasha)
Hearing her speak it feels like she's more comfortable being around me as she talks more, and I can see glimpses of her personality, and I don't know if I like the person I think she is.
(At least this most likely means she doesn't have an appraisal-type skill... Well is she did there's nothing I can do about it, so let's just get on with this.)(Protagonist)
"Okay, let's do the following: I will approach them with my spear and distract them, then you'll use one of your spells to incapacitate one of the goblins if possible two. While I handle what's left."(Protagonist)
Saying nothing about Sasha's self-praise, I tell her the simple combat plan I want to use.
"Can you even handle two at the same time?"(Sasha)
She asked not believing I can do it at all or at least it seems that way.
(She said I'm a citizen rank goblin, and considering how the frailest looking goblin is also that rank and the fact I'm only level 2, that's probably the lowest rank. That said it's not a surprise she doubts I can fend for myself... Cause, I'm still afraid and would rather not have to do this, but if I choose to hide and run away now, I'll most definitely be a failure in life again! I won't lose again! So, I have to prove not to her but to myself that I can do it!!)(Protagonist)
I narrow my eyes with resolve as I once more decide that I must be strong for my own sake.
"Believe me, I'm stronger than I look."(Protagonist)
I say this as I look at our unaware adversaries, for the first time, I feel the adrenaline rush of battle but not of fear for survival, but for the strong desire to strengthen myself I'm feeling.
