Darkness.
That was the only thing that I was seeing.
No rays of light. Just the darkness and me. I was standing in the dark looking everywhere for some light but I didn't see anything. I wondered how I ended up here. I was in the corridor with Mr. Vins before I appeared here.
"Is there anybody there?" I asked out loud, my eyes looking around but everywhere was the same. Darkness, darkness and darkness. "Somebody?" I tried again but still no reply.
I gave up when I knew that I was alone here. I started to walk to find a way out of whatever this place was. I just hoped that I was going in the good direction. But after five minutes of walking, I noticed that it wasn't getting me anywhere. The place was the same. It was like a never ending tunnel.
"There you are," I heard a familiar voice say behind me and I turned around immediately to see who it was.
And there was Mr Alexandro Vins arms folded over his chest and a smirk on his face. I glared at him as I started to walk towards him but he shook his head at me before he snapped his fingers and I froze in place. I tried to move my feet again but it was like they were glue to the ground.
"Where am I? What did you do to me?" I asked him angrily and he giggled.
"You wanted the truth. I'm giving it to you," he replied.
"What truth?" I asked him.
"The truth about Cloud and about everything," he responded and I remained silent. I didn't trust this guy. He was giving me the creeps and I didn't know where he brought me. But I wanted to know more about what was happening around me and it looked like Mr Vins knew more then he let on.
"I don't trust you," I said.
"Many people don't. But you will have to trust me," he told me putting his hands around his back, "Something is preparing itself and you, Luffy, are just in the centre of it. I'm here to protect you."
"Protect me from what?" I questioned him.
"Everything," he replied, "You don't know what are around you. Humans are so blind to see it. Everything is just in front of your eyes but you can't see it. Luffy, you are one of those humans. But I'm about to change that."
"I don't understand anything that you are saying," I informed him and he surprised me when he smiled.
"Don't worry you will understand soon. But first you need to get your memory back," he said and he snapped his fingers again and the background around us suddenly changed.
We were no longer surrounded by darkness. Instead, we were in front of a house where the music was beating out loud. There was some drunken teenagers in front of the house. Beside me there was a car and who I was in the car made my eyes widened.
"It's me," was the first thing that I said in surprise. "How is it even possible?" I asked and Mr Vins walked towards the car and stood in front of the window against which my head was leaning as I slept in the car.
"Don't you remember where we are?" Mr Vins asked me but his eyes were on the sleeping me. I looked around again and something seemed to click in my head.
"We are at the night of the party," I replied and he nodded.
"Exactly," Mr Vins said, "Now you are going to see what truly happened on this night."
"But I already know what happened that night. Cloud told me about it," I informed Mr Vins and he looked at me with an amused look.
"And you believe him just like that?" He asked me and I nodded slowly which made him laugh, "You are so blind. He was lying obviously."
"How do you know that he is lying?" I asked him defiantly and he smirked.
"How do you know that he is telling the truth?" He asked me in response and I became silent.
It was a good question and I didn't know what to reply to that. How did I know that Cloud was telling the truth at that moment in the library? He could have possibly been lying to me. I didn't have a proof that he didn't. I would have liked to say that I trusted him and that I knew that he would never lie to me but...how could I trust someone who I barely knew?
"Listen," Mr Vins started, "We are going to stay here and see how things will turn out. Then we will know who is telling the truth. Cloud or me?"
"Alright," I simply said and then I felt something. Mr Vins also seemed like he felt it too as he started to look around but he didn't look worry about it.
"Luffy, they are coming," a voice said and I froze. It wasn't Mr Vins and there was no one apart from us here. The other few people that were here were in front of the house.
"It's not for you," Mr Vins told me and I glanced at him.
"For who then?" I asked him and he showed me the me in the car.
"They are coming to get you," the same voice continued and I felt a shiver down my spine while the me in the car moved uncomfortably in his seat a frown on his face. The voice was cold and a bit terrifying. I looked around trying to see who this voice belong to but I still didn't see anyone. It was like the voice was in the air.
"They are coming," the voice said again before adding loud and clearly, "Cloud!"
At that instance, the me in the car jumped in his seat, his head hitting to the ceiling of the car and his eyes snapping wide open. I watched him as he looked around himself and as he seemed to recognize the place, he calmed down.
"Who was that voice?" I asked Mr Vins and he shrugged.
"Someone powerful but I don't know who. But I will find out," he said stepping away from the car and walking to me. "Whoever it was. He or she wanted you to know the danger coming that night."
"What danger?" I questioned.
"Amelia and my clan," he answered and I frowned but before I could ask him what he meant, he continued to talk, "You will see what I'm talking about soon. Just follow the other you."
At that moment the door of the car opened and the other me got out of it and walked in the direction of the house. I looked at Mr Vins who started to follow the other me and I followed soon after, now being able to walk.
"I have a question," I said, "I, I mean the other me, seem to have hear the voice too. Am I correct?"
"Yes, you heard it but it wasn't clear to you what the voice was saying at that moment," Mr Vins replied, "Humans are so weak creatures. They only hear and see what they want. That's why you can't see our world."
"Are you human?" I asked him and he chuckled.
"Not exactly," he replied but didn't go in depth with his answer and I sighed before looking at the other me who now arrived at the front door of the house. "Sorry," Mr Vins apologised before he pushed me towards myself. I didn't fall down but my hand touched the other me and the latter looked back to see who it was. He looked like he had felt my touch but he didn't see me so he entered the house.
"Why did you do that?" I asked Mr Vins and he shrugged.
"Just testing a theory," he said innocently and I glared at him before entering the house. The party was agitated and the house pretty full but I succeeded in finding myself but who I saw with me wasn't what I expected.
"It's Amelia," Mr Vins said coming to stand beside me and I looked at him.
"What is a little girl doing at a party?" I asked him and he chuckled, his eyes on the little girl.
"She is nothing like a little girl. Look better Luffy," he told me and I frowned. My eyes left him and went back on me but instead of seeing a little girl, I saw something else.
"What the hell!" I said, stepping back in terror but Vins took my arm to stop me.
"Don't be afraid. It's just a memory. She can't do nothing to you as she can't see you," Vins explained, letting go of my arm, "It's Amelia Gioras' true self, her true appearance."
"She looked.." I started but didn't finish the sentence.
"Dead," Vins completed for me and I nodded slowly, "She is. That's what happen when you bring the dead to life. They keep the appearance of their death. And for Amelia, she looked like that when she died. Wedding dress covered with blood, throat cut open and no eyes along with blood on her face."
I quickly looked away from them and the background of the surrounding suddenly changed again. This time we were in a bedroom where there was Cloud, Rain, Frederick and the twins along with myself being silent in a corner of the room. The other guys were having an agitated conversation about Amelia. But I was really surprise to see Frederick with them.
"Are we at the same place?" I asked Vins and he hummed in response.
"In one of the bedroom of the house. We won't follow you around for the whole night. We are only going to see the important part. When you wake up, everything will go into place in your head," Vins explained.
"Wait a minute," I said, "I'm sleeping right now?"
"Yes. You are in the infirmary of the school sleeping peacefully. I brought you there when you kind of fell on the floor in the middle of the corridor," Vins told me, "We are in your head right now."
"My head," I repeated in disbelief.
"Where your memory is hidden to be more exact," Vins said, his eyes on Cloud. It was a bit weird seeing him staring at Cloud like that but I didn't say anything. Instead, I listened to the conversation occurring between the guys.
All that they were saying were nonsense to me and the other me looked in the same state as myself. It was weird looking at myself. Okay, I looked at myself everyday in the mirror but having another you standing and breathing in front of you was different.
One by one the guys left the bedroom leaving me alone with Cloud and that got my attention. I watched as I talked with him and when he said that he was going to answer all of my questions, I looked like I believed him. To tell the truth even now I believed him. He seemed so sincere when he talked.
When the other me finally took his hand, the background changed again. This time we were out of the bedroom. There was myself, Cloud and Emma. The scene in front of me made my eyes widened in shock. I wanted to know how it felt to kiss Cloud, now I had the whole scene in front of me.
"I didn't see that," Vins told me with a smirk and an unwanted blush came to my cheek. For some reasons, I couldn't keep my eyes off the scene. I watched as Cloud cupped my ass and I quickly looked away in embarrassment.
"It's too much for me," I said clearing my throat awkwardly and Vins chuckled.
"It's just a kiss," he said and looked at me before understanding, "It was your first kiss."
"Yeah I know," I said before I realised something.
Cloud lied, I thought. He said that I was drunk when we kissed. I couldn't believe that he lied to my face. But what was I expecting anyway? For Cloud to be honest with me. It was too good to be true. He didn't want me to know the truth before so he couldn't be honest with me so easily.
Mr Vins pinched my cheek suddenly and it snapped me out of my thought. I looked at him with a frown and he pointed with his finger the direction of Emma and I must say that I had completely forgot she was here. Her eyes were actually snapping fire at Cloud before she slapped him violently across the face. But there was something else with her or maybe something behind her that got my attention. Something that I was sure make my face looked more than red.
"What is this?" I asked Vins as I looked away quickly feeling really more embarrassed.
"It's a prostitute," Vins replied normally as if it wasn't a big deal.
"A prostitute?" I asked in disbelief and he nodded.
"That's how the human call them I think. In our world they are called something else but it's too complicated for me to pronounce. They are girls with a strong desire for sex and they-"
"I know what a prostitute is, Vins," I said, cutting him off.
"No, they are not like the normal prostitute, Dickson," Vins told me, "As I was saying, they have a strong desire for sex but not with everybody. The prostitutes are known to be violent in bed and kind of really strong. It's difficult to control them and some men even died in bed with them. That's why they have a special preference for the guardians."
"The guardian," I repeated with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes. Cale and Calum are guardians," Vins said, "The guardians are strong in a way that they can control the prostitutes in bed better than we can. They also use magic something that the prostitutes absorb during sex. And when a prostitute sees one gardian, she immediately want to share a bed with him. The prostitutes also depend on sex to survive."
"Thanks for the explanation," I thanked Vins even thought I wasn't really thankful. "I guess that your explanation explains why there is a naked girl behind Emma," I added.
"She is a bit different this girl," Vins said looking at Emma as she walked away from Cloud looking really angry, "I think that she doesn't know what she is."
"Great. Because of you I miss the whole talk," I said as I watched the other me running after Emma leaving Cloud alone.
"It wasn't so much important," Vins said before he suddenly frowned. He looked around like he was searching for something before he snapped his fingers and the background changed once more but this time it was more violent. Instead of showing another event of the night of the party, Mr Vins and I returned where we were at first and that was the complete darkness.
"What's happening? Why did you bring us back here?" I asked him.
"My clan, they are calling me. I need to go. I'm sorry but I don't have any other choice," Vins said and I started to feel a shot of pain in my head. It was an horrible headache. It was like somebody was forcing a needle again and again through my head. A flash of memories came through my mind at that moment and I fell down.
I remembered everything then. Everything that happened that night passed through my head as images. I remembered how I felt when I kissed Cloud and how scared I was of Amelia and also when Cloud said that he was going to erase my memory. I also remembered the truth about Amelia Gioras. It was then that the pain went away.
"I remember," I said slowly, "I remember everything that happened that night."
"Luffy, listen to me," Vins said helping me to stand up, "You will wake up in the infirmary with, most likely, a horrible headache. And your glasses are broken, I asked the nurse to find a new pair for you but if she isn't here yet, it's better if you avoid Cloud and his friends."
"Why?" I asked him.
"Because now you can see everything," Vins replied, "Nothing will be hidden to your eyes. Your glasses will prevent you from seeing things that shouldn't be seen to the human eyes. That's why you need to put them on before you see Cloud. I don't think that you want to see his true appearance."
"But Vins-"
"Do you still have the book of Cloud?" Vins asked and I nodded in confusion, "Keep it."
"I already told Rain to come and get it tonight and besides, I told understand anything in this book. Every page is blank," I told Vins and he smirked.
"Don't worry you will see and understand everything now. Just remove your glasses. This book tell the history of Cloud and his family. Every creatures of our world are also in it. You need to keep it. If you want, ask Cloud. I'm sure that he will give it to you," Vins told me and for one last time, he snapped his fingers and everything around me darkened.
