Elizabeth had no time to ask what was happening. Her succubus companion shoved her off to the side. The moment this happened, something sharp sliced across her arm, causing her to yell out in pain as she tumbled into the dirt. She clutched her arm tightly and clenched her teeth as the burning sensation from the cut spread throughout it. She teared up from the pain, but refused to let herself cry from it.
After having pushed Elizabeth away, Euryale clutched her hand in her direction. Instantaneously, a shining dome of sparking energy formed around the human. She had no time to feel relief, as the invisible assailant tackled her to the ground. The heavy force of its body pushed her harder against the dirt, but she managed to grab hold of what she assumed were its arms, and pushed back against them.
“Yu, are you okay?!” Irisyla shouted as she watched more sets of footprints appear in the dirt. She slid over and intercepted one of them, giving a powerful kick to the invisible creature. Based on the trail of dust it left behind, she presumably sent it skidding across the dirt.
Euryale grit her teeth, her palms now unleashing a bright light as she clenched harder onto her assailant. “I'm fine, don't worry about me!” The longer she held onto the creature, the less resistance it seemed to be putting up against her. Some sort of energy flowed from its body into Euryale's palms, which slowly unveiled the assailant in its entirety.
The creature was lizard-like in appearance, albeit far more twisted in a way that fit a being from Tartarus or the Nether Mirror. At standing height it was five feet tall at best, but the sharp blades that protruded from its forearms still gave it an intimidating presence. Its mouth opened wide as it growled furiously at Euryale.
The succubus responded with a forceful punch to its face, dazing it enough that it relieved all pressure it was applying to her. She took that momentary lull in its strength to kick it off of her, sending it tumbling near where Irisyla had kicked the other one.
The two succubi regrouped in front of the barrier that Euryale had placed around Elizabeth, Irisyla looking inside at her with concern. “Liz, are you gonna be okay?”
She put on a brave face as she clutched her arm tighter. “I-I'm okay right now...” she answered. Her heart was racing in fear as she stared at the visible assailant outside, but she did her best to not let it show.
Irisyla looked back at the creature, sniffing the air as she attempted to concentrate. “That's a raptilak right?” She took another whiff of the air, her pupils narrowing down even more than usual while scanning the footprints in the ground. “I can smell four plus the one you made seeable!”
Euryale watched the raptilak stand up, looking at itself in confusion as it didn't understand why it could not camouflage itself again. It hissed in frustration before licking Elizabeth's blood off one of the blades in its arm. It let out a commanding roar, as it ran towards the barrier protecting the human. Clouds of dust and dirt kicked into the air as the camouflaged raptilaks followed close behind it.
“Iris, deal with whichever ones you can, I'll protect the barrier and nullify the others!” Euryale shouted as the other succubus nodded and pushed forward. While she knew her partner had a fantastic sense of smell, it wasn't precise enough to know exactly where the invisible creatures would be at all times. “If I can make them all visible, then we should have no problems here!”
Despite the serious situation, Irisyla couldn't help but laugh excitedly at the potential challenge. Sprinting head on with the creatures, she slid across the dirt and outstretched her arms completely. Her arms clotheslined the visible raptilak, and luckily enough, one of its comrades too. The raptilaks' eyes flew wide open as they gasped for air from the intense impact, before the woman slammed them against the ground with such force that it cracked beneath them.
Euryale focused on one of the dust trails herself, her eyes continuing to glow brightly as she reached out for one of the invisible raptilaks. She gripped tightly on what she presumed to be its arm, and used its own momentum against it by twisting the arm behind its back slamming it into the ground. Now that her hands had made solid contact with the creature, her palms began to shine again, and the same flow of energy that was seen before began to run from its body into her hands.
Within seconds, the raptilak had lost its camouflage and let out a weak hiss in anger. The creature still pinned beneath her, she looked back at the barrier around Elizabeth. She looked terrified inside as the remaining two invisible raptilaks smashed their blades against the dome over and over again. Euryale let go of her current enemy and kicked it to the side, using the sparks from the impacting blades on the barrier as a way to discern the exact location of the other assailants.
While running at full speed, she created thin barriers around her hands and struck the first raptilak with her open palm. A brief spark of electricity jolted through its body, before the barrier 'pushed' it away. The other raptilak that attacked Elizabeth's shield was caught in the path of its ally and was sent flying along with it.
Knowing where they had fallen into the dirt, she jumped on top of both creatures and took the barriers away from her hands. She pressed her palms hard against both of the camouflaged bodies beneath her, struggling to keep them both at bay as the energy flowed into her hands.
The furious raptilaks roared at her and put up as much resistance as they could against her. They swung their arms wildly and cut up her legs and arms. Unfortunately the amount of strength they were losing made any ground they could gain by injuring their opponent almost null.
Euryale pushed through the pain until their bodies slowly appeared beneath her, and without a moment's hesitation she jumped off of them. She breathed hard as blood from the burning cuts they made flowed down her limbs. Glancing down at her hands, she bit her lip as they throbbed in pain. “I'm taking in too much from them, but I only have to get through one more!” She reassured herself as she watched Irisyla thrash around the two she had with her. “Iris it's time to switch!!!” She called out while narrowly dodging an attack from behind. While she was distracted, the three raptilaks she had removed the camouflage from were attempting to regroup.
Irisyla looked back at her friend and nodded with a childish grin as she held the two she was beating up by their necks. “You're comin' with me!” She told the visible one before throwing it like a ragdoll at the trio by the barrier. “Take this one!” She shouted while holding the invisible raptilak out.
The succubi ran towards each other, crossing paths and giving each other reassuring nods on the way by. Euryale grabbed the final invisible assailant from her friend on the way by. She slammed it down hard with both its arms pinned, so that it couldn't attack her as she did her work.
Irisyla stopped in front of the four visible assailants menacingly, in contrast with the eager smile on her face. She cracked her knuckles as the one she had injured before shrieked at her furiously. “I hope you don't make this too boring! I've been itchin’ for some fun all day!” she exclaimed to them.
In response, the raptilak group scattered around and came at her from different directions. The first ran straight at her, quite fast due to the monster’s smaller stature. Its surprise attack failed miserably however, as its blade pierced passed her when she jumped to the side.
After dodging the first attack, her gaze moved to the next two in the following instant. One of them attempted to lop her head clean off, but her quick reflexes allowed her to move her head and take only a small graze across her cheek. She grabbed its arm after she was cut, while the other raptilak was not so lucky.
Unlike its comrade who at least managed to graze her, the third attacker swung and missed thanks to a swift pivot from Irisyla. It too was grabbed by the arm, both it and its comrade held so tightly that the bones in their arm began to break.
The athletic succubus took a step back with the final attack incoming. She slid over to the raptilak who attacked first, catching it by surprise and kicking it hard in the abdomen. The monster flew into the path of its comrade, being pierced in the chest by its blade and uttering a painful shriek.
The raptilak fell over from the impact of its comrade being pierced through its blade. The faintest amount of trembling could be seen as it pulled the blade out of the other monster, staring at its lifeless body. It slowly looked up to see the woman tossing its remaining two allies over to it, their injured bodies sliding across the dirt.
“You guys were way too weak! But it’s my turn now!~” she declared. Sharp protrusions suddenly came out from her arms as if it was natural for her.
Elizabeth watched in awe, because at a glance, what came out from her arms were similar in shape to the blades on the arms of the raptilaks. However upon a more detailed inspection, she noticed what Irisyla's 'blades' were made from. “A-are... those her bones?!”
Despite two out of three of them having a broken arm, the raptilak trio stood up, ready to fight. The one lizard who had killed its ally appeared far more hesitant than the others, feeling pure fear from the ‘aura’ Irisyla’s presence gave off. Hoping to overcome her as a group with brute force, the three raptilaks dashed in unison, their blades readied to strike her as a single attack.
Irisyla couldn't help but giggle, standing her ground and blocking their combined strike with the bones coming out of her arms. It was at that moment the creatures realized just how truly outmatched they were, as the woman appeared to be putting in little effort to hold back their group’s strength. She gave them no chance to retreat, pushing back against their clashing blades and knocking them all off balance. She swung her arm at one of them, her bone blade cutting all the way through its neck and severing it from the creature's body like a hot knife through butter.
The closest raptilak couldn't even react to its comrade's demise, as the succubus smashed her knee hard into its gut. The creature spewed saliva from its mouth as it gasped in agony.
Irisyla swiftly stabbed her sharp bones through the lizard's heart, and the creature fell limp onto the ground. “What a total letdown!” She exclaimed in a pouty tone as her remaining enemy quaked in fear.
Having killed one of its own allies, and seeing almost all the rest slaughtered at the hands of the succubus, the final raptialk turned and attempted to flee. Its survival instincts had overwritten anything else it was supposed to do. The fleeing creature made a good distance in a short time since the succubus didn’t appear to give chase at first.
“Ya know, we don't chase down scaredy lizards like you normally... buuut!!!” Irisyla dropped down onto her hands, hunched over like an animal. After lowering herself enough, she took an inhuman leap through the air, leaving deep footprints in the ground where she was standing.
The fleeing raptilak slid to a stop as the succubus flew over its head and landed in front of it, creating a small crater in the ground beneath her. “You're a mean monster!!!” she chastised it. Her pupils narrowed down again onto it after she spoke, and the gem inside the choker around her neck emitted a soft light. “You tried to hurt Liz, my new special friend! As her new weapon...” her speaking tone suddenly dropped several octaves, “I can’t forgive that.”
After she spoke, the raptilak made a final desperate attempt to attack her, but was shut down completely by her strength. The succubus slashed at its blades at the same time, her bones pushed all the way through its natural reptilian blades and shattered them into pieces.
It staggered back in pain, the monster staring helplessly at the succubus as she slashed down through it. A burning sensation pushed through its body, before it fell apart down the middle and crumpled into the dirt as a pile of blood and gore.
The bones on Irisila’s arms retracted themselves as she put her hands behind her head and looked back at Euryale. Her friend had long since taken away the camouflage from the final raptilak and was fighting it with less ease than herself with the other four.
Euryale smashed the lizard creature in the face over and over with her barrier-covered fists. While she could handle herself in a fight like this without too much issue, nullifying that many powers in such a short time frame was taxing on her stamina. However she knew that her partner had finished her portion of the work, so she resolved to finish her own.
She dodged to the side as the creature swung at her with both arms, and found her opening to finish it. With the raptilak so weakened from the draining and fighting prior, Euryale used her opening to grab it by the face and push it into the wall of the collapsing building behind them. The barrier around her hand grew thicker and shined brighter, crackling and sparking as it continuously pushed the creature's head against the rough concrete. With one final push, her barrier crushed the lizard's head and left it indented into the wall, the rest of its body lifelessly hanging until the weight caused it to slump onto the ground.
