"Are you excited about working with your dad after the exams?" Violet asks Hitsuni.
"I am actually! After all of these years of working with you and the others, I'm really excited to join my dad and his team. The practice we have done with our art and stuff, and getting tips and being able to work with my dad at times when things aren't busy; I feel ready for the exams and just feel ready in general." Hitsuni responded. "How about you though? How do you feel about all of it?"
"I kinda feel the same way, although I feel a little like an outsider you know? I mean compared to you and everything like you said." Violet says.
"You shouldn't feel like that Violet, you're talented and you're really good at what you do. Plus you did work around here a bit from time to time since we were little. If I remember correctly, you recently helped Ms. Suri with some of her sketches and pages when some of her files were corrupted on her tablet. If I also remember, she had to get them all finished that next morning so that everything went on schedule without throwing everything months behind." Hitsuni finished. "You have to have more faith in yourself Violet, you're not an outsider or anything like that. You're family and we are going to be really lucky to have you working with us." she adds.
Violet gives a slight smile before speaking. "You're right. I mean, I shouldn't worry about anything aside from the exam coming up. Even that I don't have much worry except just making sure I get there on time and all that. I guess my real worry is passing it and being able to do a good job. It's easy to do all of this for fun but I just can't help but wonder if I'll be as good as I am now for when I actually have to do it professionally; especially with working with you and your dad. He worked so hard to get to where he is now and I don't want to disappoint him."
"You won't disappoint my dad or me, or any of us." said Hitsuni. "I understand though that you're nervous about all of it and I would be lying if I said I wasn't either. Like my dad always tells me, you always have to start somewhere." she adds. "He's right though because he didn't just have all his success just happen overnight, he had to keep working and working to get where he wanted to be. It looks easy when things reach a certain point but it's only because of not only hard work, but believing in ourselves and in each other."
Violet thinks about it for a moment before smiling. "You're really good at knowing how to say things Hitsuni. You're right though, and I have to remember that as well remember that everything is happening for a reason, and for a good one." she says, still having that smile.
"Hitsuni, Violet; did you see where I put my binder? It's that blue one that I use for drafts and such. I don't know if I left it in the living room." Hitsuni's father shouts from another room.
"Hold on let me check!" Hitsuni yells back. Both Violet and Hitusni do a quick look trying to find the missing blue binder.
"Found it!" her dad shouts.
The girls stopped looking after hearing this and went back to their sketches and drawings. They continued talking and doing touch ups on some of their sketches, adding some color to near finished drawings, and some extra shading and lighting to the ones almost completed. After a few hours, they just sat and studied a few things for the exams. These exams were the final steps that not only showed the completion of educational requirements, but also was that step that would allow those in an apprenticeship and were underage like Hitsuni and Violet to graduate and be able to work full time in their field without consequence.
These exams can cause a lot of stress to the students that take them, especially taking them early. However, this is what must be done to be able to do what they are striving to do. To follow their dream, and through this one test will give them that ability to live it. For them, there is so much on the line and they know as well what this test really means. It means that things are going to change. No. It means that it is changing, and that life as they know it will change. The structure of education that they received, they will have to carry with them and continue to learn through experience and on their own in order to keep themselves moving forward. In a few days, Hitsuni and her friends will be taking this test, and we shall see if they are ready for the change soon to come.
