We had just past telos (the schools magical barrier), I had decide to walk to school from there; yseult went on ahead because she had to be present at a school council meeting.I descended from my broom and decided to walk partly because I was early and also because the area was scenic. I put my foot down on the earthen surface the forest floor was woven with ancient tree roots, the light was filtered through by the masses of foliage above. I tilted my head upwards I felt my hair tumble further down my back; the pines are several stories tall reaching the golden rays of spring.
I continued continued walking in silence with nothing but the chirped hymns of the nearby birds. After a while I heard the churning of a river that encircled the campus. I knelt by the river and put hands through the cool and placid river, causing the water to ripple. The rivers clear water submerged pebbles which had once been rocks but over time had been worn out and smoothed. I turned around and got back up, I walked up to a bridge. I skipped over the golden-yellow surface surface of the bridge my eyes seeing the variations in colours. Parts of the bricks were yellow others were a muddy brown.
I stepped of the bridge onto the stone path in hecate’s institute of the unnatural or H.I.U for short.
The building was a colossal, it was an old fashioned academy made out of stone. The building had 4 towers, each of them were assigned as the residential area for each of the 4 main houses Malthor, Wyrith, Edjer, and Krios. In the middle of those four towers was a the quad in which lied Yggdrasil. No matter how many times I saw it took took my breath away. There in the centre of the quad surrounded by million grassy blades stood a tree, its bark so intricate and patterned as if carved by a master craftsmen. It stretches up, as if so proud to stand there under rain or shine, extending its branches towards the heavens. It’s roots probably extended all the way under the barrier. In fact this tree was probably the only reason that a barrier this big and powerful could could function.
I snapped out of it and realised I get going before I’m late. Once you got out the quad and followed the path for a bit longer the path meandered of to a good sized manor. The building was the another residence for another house Galdr, it was the house that freshman mages were put in by default for the first.I detested this place it was full of nothing but bad memories however by the end of this week I would be out.
I made my way to up the path and on the courtyard there was a ivory statue of the founder of the school, hecate the strongest mage to ever live, this house was kind of a tribute to her. She was a woman with and immaculate figure she wore long hooded cloak and from her knees and downwards were a pair of high laced heels. She stood tall with one hand on her hips the other was extended outward with torches floating around around her. I never understood how they were able to do that with no support but then again half the stuff in this school didn’t make sense.
I continued up the path and reached the double ebony door, I put my hand on the golden handle and took a deep breath in and then pushed forward. When I took my first step in I was met by a flying vase, I didn’t react fast enough to catch it. Great my first day and I was going to have a broken nose how was I meant to explain this to dad and mum, then as if everything wasn’t bad enough a gust of wind appeared out of nowhere and edged the vase closer to my face.
