On their way out of the carnival, they kept talking animatedly. It seemed that only then Mia noticed that she was holding Nick's hand. She suddenly let it go as if she was had been holding something too hot.
Nick was confused by her actions but loved the way she blushed while she did so.
Finally, they arrived at the place where they should have said goodbye. Nick wasn't sure what he was supposed to do.
Should he shake her hand? Hug her? It turned out that he didn't have to worry about it because as he extended his hand to shake hands with Mia, she pulled him in and kissed him.
The kiss wasn't shy either. It was a passionate kiss that made Nick's blood boil and his heart pound a mile a minute.
As they were kissing, he combed his fingers through her hair, and finally, his hand ended up on the back of her neck. He used his advantage to pull her in even closer and deepen the kiss.
Her lips were both gentle and firm at the same time, and he loved the taste of them. It was such a familiar taste, but he couldn't put his finger on what it reminded him of.
His head started spinning, and they had to break the kiss to get some air. Their faces were still inches apart, and they were both breathing very fast as if they had run a race.
He could see that her eyes burned with passion, but there was also fear in them. Before she had a chance to run away from him, Nick lowered his lips onto hers, and he could feel her return the kiss even more passionately than before.
He let his tongue lick her lips, and she yielded. Within seconds his tongue was inside her mouth, exploring its warmth. Deep down, he knew that he should stop, that she wasn't ready for what he had to offer.
He couldn't stop.
He gently bit down on her lower lip, and she let out a soft moan that made him want more.
However, it had quite the opposite effect on her. It snapped her out of her passion-induced daze, and she stepped back with her eyes wide open.
"I am sorry I can't do this," Mia said as she kept stepping back from Nick.
"It's okay. We can slow down," Nick tried to soothe her, having a feeling that they crossed some line that she had carefully drawn.
"No, no, I have to go," she said as she started moving away.
"When will I see you again?" Nick asked, starting to panic.
"You won't," Mia said.
That was all she said as she started running away from him.
"Wait..." Nick called after her, but it was already too late.
Mia was gone.
Upon arriving home, Nick started kicking his furniture around, angry with himself for going too fast. The problem was that he couldn't control himself.
It didn't feel to Nick like it was their first kiss. It felt as if it was their first kiss after a long time. He couldn't get away from the feeling that he spent a lifetime kissing Mia, and now, after a long separation, he could do it again.
It was the strangest feeling ever, but it wasn't one he could control. If Mia hadn't kissed him, it would have been easier for him to slow down. However, after that kiss, he just couldn't stop. Nick missed her more than he was aware and wanted to have her as close as possible.
That was his mistake.
Mia wasn't ready for something as strong as that, and he might have lost her forever. She seemed scared, and he wasn't sure why.
In his mind, he considered that some percentage was due to moving too fast, but he wasn't sure about the rest of her fear.
It was very odd to be so much into someone and not even know what she went through in her life.
Maybe one of the reasons she ran away was a bad life event that he knew nothing about.
How could he be so much in love with her without truly knowing her? Because there was no running away from it, he was in love with her.
Not knowing what to do, he decided to just go to sleep, thinking that morning was wiser than evening. The moment he closed his eyes, the dream started.
An accidental meeting might be a lot more than then Mia and Nick bargained for. It's not what either one of them expected but only one of them is ready to accept the feelings that start developing. Will they be able to accept the fate and enjoy it?
For some reason, Nick keeps having vivid dreams that feel more like memories about a guy named Mark. Is there some connection between the dreams and the present? Why does he seem to have powerful feelings for both the man of his dream and the woman of is waking hour? What does it all mean for him?
