When the Leaves Fall

CHAPTER 7

CHAPTER 7

Apr 08, 2021

Still, with Marcos' warning ringing in her mind, Diana finished packing for the trip. Her luggage is nothing more than a pile of clothes, nothing more since she did not know how long she would be away from home. The most important thing had been the organization of their herbs and materials to help the sick they were going to visit. Diana packed her suitcase impeccably, as Marcos had taught her, in alphabetical order and as a matter of importance.

A feeling of apprehension hung in her mind like a heavy rain cloud. Several doubts and questions clouded her thoughts. Diana, carrying the heavy suitcase, left the room with a little difficulty due to the extra weight she was dragging with her.

The sun hit her face as she left the house, like a more than welcome caress. She sighed, she would miss that house, since, for some reason, she had a feeling she wouldn't be back there anytime soon or even ever again. Looking around her, she found the visitors getting ready to leave.

Unconsciously, Diana's gaze fastened on Hector. She couldn't help it, something, stronger than if it drew her towards her. Diana allowed herself to admire Hector's almost insulting beauty, his well-shaped and well-defined body, probably due to his endless and exhausting workouts. The sun on his fair hair gave the impression that they were made of silver threads. Hector's face remained serious, focused on the task of adjusting his horse's saddle. Despite that, his blue eyes were calm. That tranquil blue of nothing reminded her of the hard, angry look she had received earlier, Diana thought, feeling a chill run down her spine. What more feelings could those eyes express?

- Miss Diana, you will have to share the horse with Hector - Raul's voice was like a slap in the face, she opened her mouth, but could not make a sound - I hope there is no problem - he continued, noticing the visible Diana's discomfort - We didn't expect you to come with us, so we don't have enough horses and he's the most prepared for the extra weight.

- Thanks for the concern, but there is no problem - she lied, would he be convinced? Certainly not, everyone had heard her discussion with Hector earlier. Her gaze fell on him again. Diana realized that when he heard his friend's words, Hector froze.

Diana felt her feet on the floor. She didn't want to have to interact with Hector anytime soon, either because of the argument or because of her suspicions. He probably didn't want to look her in the face anytime soon. It will be a long journey, she thought as she walked heavily toward the source of all her daydreams.

I am impressed with her dedication to proper packing. I am of the ''stuff it until someone has to sit on it to close the suitcase' school of packing.

Sharing a horse? How very...sensual. Looking forward to the chemistry between them!
