"Pfft, he finally left. Took him long enough," Cecily shrugged Charles off.
"Geez Lily, wasn't expecting you to get so like that with him today. That's probably a new record for biggest shrug of the century," Thomas joked.
"Oh, s-sorry," Cecily apologized. Seemed she was back to her normal, shy self now that Charles was gone.
"Just what was that all about?," Allen was asking them. "I wasn't expecting you to act that way Lily".
"Charles is-," Thomas began to explain but was quickly interrupted by Cecily.
"No, it's okay. I will explain," she told Thomas.
"Alright, go ahead," Thomas told her.
"Charles Rivertide is my cousin. He is the son of Susanna and Francis Rivertide, my aunt and uncle. Susanna Rivertide is the current head of the family, meaning he is a part of the main family. Her sister, Judith, is my mother. My mother is the current Water Leader of the Triumvirate," Cecily explained.
Allen thought for a moment to take all that information in.
"So your mother is the Water Leader, alongside Solomon Windblade the Air Leader?," Allen asked.
"Correct," Thomas responded. "And my uncle, Giles Terrastone, is the current Earth Leader of the Triumvirate".
"Ah I see," Allen spoke as he began to connect the dots. "So why the bad blood between you two?," Allen asked her.
"Personally, I do not like him. He is always acting arrogant, saying things like how he is better than some of the Windblade children. He certainly matches their arrogance levels. He has always been trying to wedge the distance between him and I, only because I am a fellow Rivertide. Almost anyone else he doesn't care for," She explained.
"So that's why you get like that when he is around?," Allen asked.
"Correct," Cecily responded.
"Cecily, Charles and I have all known each other since we were young," Thomas added. "Charles and I have had our petty fights, but I seem to be the only other person he will give some of his precious 'time' to, but I think that's only because Cecily has always hung around me. He probably thinks of me as a 'rival to the Rivertides' as well".
"Seems like a fun childhood, then," Allen joked.
"Certainly was, considering we were born in the 'Great Elemental Families' with basically no talent," Thomas shrugged.
"Even so, I think both of you have potential. I think you both have what it takes to do great in magic," Allen complimented them.
"Thanks Allen," Thomas grinned.
"Thank you, Allen," Cecily shyly said.
"Hey, it's no problem. We can for sure practice in the future to hone our magic skills," he explained to them.
Both of them nodded in agreement.
"But, enough about that. What you should be concerned about right now is what Charles told you before he left," Thomas told Allen.
"Oh, you mean his older brother? Who is he?," Allen asked.
"Charles older brother is Nathaniel Rivertide. He is a Year 2 Rank C student here at the academy," Thomas explained.
"So why should I be so concerned about him? He's just a C rank right?," Allen asked.
"He is a C rank essentially by choice. He has no sense of honor or code when it comes to magic," Thomas explained. "He's very greedy and gets angry when things don't go his way. The school had to put him into the C rank because he refused to participate enough in the B rank class, and I'm sure he could achieve A rank if he actually worked hard".
"Seems like if trouble was a person, it would be him," Allen joked.
"Precisely so. If Charles has said that Nathaniel has his eyes on you, that isn't a good thing. Nathaniel may try to initiate a duel with you in order to humiliate you. Whatever you do, do not accept a duel from him," Thomas explained in a serious tone.
"Don't worry, I plan on training more before I start to participate in duels. I will just simply ignore him if he tries anything," Allen grinned.
"Good idea. So about that magic detection technique you were going to teac-", Thomas began to say, but was interrupted.
"Okay, class time is over kids," Ms. Danet had walked up to them. "Time to leave the training room".
"Awe, our time is already up Ms. Danet? Can't we stay a bit longer?," Thomas pleaded.
"No, I am afraid your time is up. Class time is over. Other classes will be using the training room today, so if you want to use it further you need to wait until they are done. You all are dismissed," she told them.
"Well, there's always another time," Allen explained. "I'll be sure to show you guys next time".
"Of course. And I can show you some of my tricks!," Thomas told him.
"I- I can show you mine as well," Cecily added to the conversation.
"I'll see you guys in class tomorrow!," Allen waved as he walked back to his dorm.
"See you tomorrow, Al!," Thomas said as both he and Cecily waved him off.
