I flop over onto my back with a loud huff and stare up at the ceiling. The stars around the outside of my vision tell me I’m more drunk than I thought I was and planned to be, I’m also breathing far too hard, when did I let myself get this unfit? I’m going to need to up my game, I’ve been indulging myself far too much lately. A shuffle off to my side reminds me that I’m not alone and I let my gaze wander over to my companion.
She’s standing with her back to me, giving me ample opportunity to take her in, and my eyes trail from her curly auburn hair down to the curve of her hips and her beautiful ass. A soft giggle pulls me out of my thoughts. “enjoying the view are we?” She asks, purposefully swaying her hips on her walk to the bathroom door. She turns to me with a glint in those blue eyes of hers as she speaks “Care to join me for a shower?” I groan and pull myself up to a sitting position. “You know I don’t do hands on Red, putting on a show for me won’t change that.” I grumble as I look around for where my clothes have disappeared to. I hear her sigh and the door to the bathroom opening “Yeah, I know, I’ll see you whenever then” she says in a much softer voice before I hear the door close behind her. I roughly rub my face with my hands and groan again, I know I should feel guilty and a part of me wants to, but I just can’t. We’re both adults, and we both know what this was and always is. So I quickly pull on my clothes and head out of the room before I have any more time to think about it.
As I head down the stairs the noise gets overwhelming, who knew so many people could fit in just a couple of rooms, and who actually listens to house music? Come on guys, I thought we were better than this. My first point of business is to find where my friends have wandered off to, they might be slightly more sensible than me but that doesn’t count for much. I spot Katie in the middle of the living room dancing and singing along with the people around her, one down, now to find the others.
After a lap around the house and finding no one else I take a step out onto the porch to get some fresh air. Luckily for me this was the right idea as as I spot Nate sitting down against the railing messing around on his phone and having a smoke. As I sit down next to him he turns his piercing green eyes on me with a smirk. “Well, well, well, look who it is! I wonder where you’ve been..” he drawls, nudging me with his shoulder. I roll my eyes and nudge him back. “Feeling jealous are we?” He huffs at that and I can’t help but chuckle. “Nah we all know what you’re into man, I think I’m good out here on my own instead.” Now that really had me laughing. “So where is everyone? I only spotted Katie in there having herself a grand old time.” “Oh, yeah, Ty wanted to head home to his girl and Bryce was more than happy to get out of here to drive him” he rolled his eyes and chuckled “man always looks uncomfortable when things start getting more wild.” I gave a little hum in response and leaned my head back against the railing. He wasn’t wrong, out of all our friends Bryce was definitely more reserved when it came to parties, he was usually our designated driver and the one to keep everyone in check. And Ty? Well he was just so damn in love that he was more than willing to ditch his friends if it meant spending time with his girlfriend, I can understand, first loves and all that other mushy crap. A slap in the chest pulls me out of my thoughts again. “I’m heading to get myself something to drink, wanting anythin’?” Nate asks as he pulls himself up off the floor. “Nah I’m going to go and keep an eye on you know who.” He laughs at that as he walks off. “Have fun!”
Walking back into the living room I spot my friend in no time, her wild, wavy hair a mixture of dark and chocolate brown tones that beautifully compliment her caramel skin tone. Speaking of skin, she’s definitely showing it off and it hasn’t failed in getting peoples attention. There are a few people around the room who’s eyes are on her, and I roll my eyes, I guess it’s that time again. I slide up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist as she dances, and I feel her tense before I can whisper in her ear “It’s only me beautiful, don’t worry.” The tension instantly evaporates when she realises it’s me and she leans back into my arms. We dance for a while, letting ourselves just get lost in the moment, but after a while I notice her eyes darting off to to the side. All of a sudden her arms are around my neck and she’s far too close, grinding our hips together and giggling like a little schoolgirl. Ah, I see how it is. I lean down to her ear and whisper “Whoever you’re trying to impress is probably losing their damn mind right about now.” The blush that instantly takes over her face has me smiling. “I-It’s not like that.. I just.. Ugh!” she mumbled as she shoved her face into my chest. “You know I don’t mind, who wouldn’t be happy to be the one taking such a gorgeous girl home?” I purred in her ear. The punch I got to my chest was definitely deserved. I chuckled as I wrapped my arms around her to pull her close “Come on you, I think we should get you home before you cause a scene in here.”
Sitting out in the fresh air sobers her up a decent amount, but she cuddles into my side quietly as we sit on the steps outside anyway. After losing our designated driver for the night I decide to call a cab to take us home. While we wait I send a quick text to Nate letting him know we’re leaving and get a thumbs up in response. I don’t have to worry about him too much, he’s definitely the most social out of our little group and he often flits between all sorts of groups of people.
Walking in the front door a wave of tiredness finally falls over me. I leave Katie to go and get ready for bed and head to the kitchen to get myself a glass of water. After downing my full glass I refill it and grab one for Katie before heading to her room. I give the door a knock before peeking in, but she’s already curled up under the blankets and all I can see is her hair above them. I have a quiet chuckle to myself as I set the glasses of water down on the bedside table before I pull off my shoes and then my jacket and jeans and unceremoniously dump them on the floor, that’s the me of tomorrows problem. I crawl into bed and wrap my arms around Katie, pulling her back against my chest. She lets out a little hum of satisfaction and I feel myself being lulled into what will hopefully be a peaceful nights sleep.
