Chapter 9: Shortcut to B-Rank

We went outside to an open field, there was a grassy area just besides the west building. We spent hours practicing our magic.

Winston: “Gah! I dont think this is working! Its not easy for a B-Rank to get to A-Rank, it takes years of combat experience, I think im gonna give up”.

Marad: “There must be a way to level up”.

Sam: “Well, to get to B-Rank is easy, we got to B-Rank in 5-6 years time and then we applied to this academy”.

“but its different kind of monster to get to A-Rank, you need at least ten years if you are talented or maybe even more depends on your talent”.

Amanda: “Marad, since you are a multi element mage, maybe you can try combining elements together and create new magic”.

Marad: “New magic? How?”

Yukie: “I will show you, since I have fire and wind magic”.

Then Yukie casted a magic, “Whirldwind”, a 3 meters tall whirlwind appeared in front of Yukie and its swirling violently.

Yukie: “Then you add another element to it, 'Fire Vortex'”

The whirlwind become a whirlwind of fire and its spewing a ball of fire around the area and left the grassy around it burned and charred.

Yukie: “By adding a new element to existing magic, I created a combination magic that has more destruction power”.

Yukie: “We have a comprehensive list of combination magic that are known, but it all depends on your brain and imagination”.

Winston: “Also the size of the magic all depends on your Mana level inside your body”.

Amanda: “Right, for example, Earth Spike magic, every earth mage can cast this spell, but C-Rank Earth Spike maybe only half a body in size”.

Amanda: “S-Rank's Earth Spike might as big as two storeys statue”.

Yukie: “Below S-Rank also can only conjure magic from their body, but starting from S-Rank you can conjure from a distance and then again it all depends on your Mana level”.

Marad: “Okay, imagination huh? I always liked Meteor magic in video games, lets create that”.

Yukie: “Meteor huh? First I think you need to conjure earth magic on the atmosphere, but you cannot conjure from distance yet”.

Yukie: “Try this, conjure stone from the ground, then lift it up with wind magic, then surround it with fire, after that because you dont have gravity magic yet, you use the wind to throw the fire stone”.

Marad: “Gravity magic? There is such thing?”.

Yukie: “Ah yes, there are 4 basic element right? Fire, water, earth, wind”.

“When you reach S-rank, you can choose specialization for it”.

“For Example, my master Water magic is SS-Rank, its a rank after S-rank”.

“He was a S-Rank water mage, from there he can specialize to Ice or True Water, I dont know but there maybe more specialization”.

Amanda: “Gravity magic is the specialization from earth magic”.

Yukie: “All right enough with the theory, try my instruction”.

Okay, I think I can do this, I closed my eyes.

First, I concentrate on creating a 'giant' stone from the ground. Its working, I can hear grumbling from the ground.

Second, wind magic lift it up, okay its done, I can feel the wind upward around my body.

Third, coat the stone with fire, I flicked my finger and I feel some warmth from the stone.

Lastly, I need to throw it with wind magic.

“ULTIMATE! METEOR!”, I shouted while opened my eyes.

Then a fire 'peeble' just a size of an egg crashed in front of Yukie.

Theres silenced for a while, I think I can hear the crow cawing, caw caw caw.

…....

Yukie: “YOU CALL THIS A METEOR!!!”, she shouted angrily.

I heard the other 3 laughing on the grass uncontrollably.

Yukie: “Okay, this isnt working, we need to level your Mana body first and it will automatically inrease your magic rank as well”.

She was thinking hard and Eureka, I think she found an answer.

Yukie: “I found a short cut to get B-Rank, are you ready?”.

I hesitantly answered, “Okay...”.

Yukie: “Good, come with me all of you”, she grinned evilly

I can hear her chuckled, “Tee hee hee, this is gonna be fun”.

We arrived in a familiar place, its the dining hall, during this hour there are not many students. But there are still some students lingering around like 20 of them.

Yukie: “Perfect!”.

She locked the door behind us, then she placed a big pouch of coins on the table nearest to the door.

Yukie: “EVERYONE LISTEN UP! I GOT 500 GOLD COINS INSIDE THIS POUCH”.

“I WILL GIVE IT TO ANYONE WHO PARTICIPATE IN BEATING UP THESE 4 STUDENTS BESIDES ME”, she pointed to us.

Me, Winston, Sam, Amanda: “WHATTT!!!??”, we can sense evil eyes from all corner of the room, even from the caterer inside the kitchen we could feel murderous aura from them.

Me, Winston, Sam, Amanda: “H, H, HOLD UP!!”, before we can explained ourselves, all kinds of magic floating across the room.

Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, you name it, its all there.

Winston casted Earth Wall to protect himself, Amanda casted Fire Armor around herself, and Sam casted Water Bubble to protect himself.

Yukie: “First rule of battle, always cast protective magic to protect the mage”.

Marad: “You..., You are evil”.

….. 15 minutes later.....

Yukie: “As promised, take the gold and divide it among yourselves”.

We were lying flat on the floor, beaten up, swollen, cannot move.

Then Yukie walked towards us.

Yukie: “The fastest way to level up is by receiving a lot of magic blows from your opponent, then your body will remember and might absorb some of it”, she explained.

Then Yukie looked at the other 3 members.

Yukie: “You guys will not improved by just defending, you need to counter, analyze what magic your opponent have and attack when possible”.

Marad: “ist eashy fur yu to shay”, my face swollen, its hard to speak.

Yukie: “Okay, lets hold hand and load”.

We then held our hands together and I shouted “Road!”.

…....

Yukie: “Sam, cast healing water on his face”.

Then Sam healed me using water magic

Marad: “Okay, then here we go, Load!”.

We were back in the gamers club room, wounds healed, swollen gone, and I feel my body is lighter, stronger.

Marad: “I feel stronger, just a bit”.

Yukie: “Good, you are probably E-Rank now after taking those beating”.

“Nobody use this method, because it is painful and took a long time to heal, thats why we gotta abuse your magic, hehehe”, she laugh evilly.

Marad: “How many times do we have to do this?”.

Yukie: “Probable a few hundred load”.

…... Silence across the room......

Yukie: “Now, are you ready for round two?? lets go! Unless you want to take a beating from A-Rank magic”
