so yeah, here's the first chapter, i literally have no clue when the rest of the story will come out, but i hope you stick around and hopefully enjoy it!!

also i have a couple things to just say before anyone actually reads the story: Gift is inspired by a taiwanese tv show called bromance, it's a fucking incredible show which i love with my whole entire heart (it's on netflix if anyone wants to watch it)

YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY READ THIS WITHOUT HAVING SEEN THE SHOW!!! the show is just the inspiration, this is entirely my own work

ANYWAY this isn't like a rewrite of bromance or anything, but the situation of gift is heavily inspired by bromance, idk how to explain it but basically bromance is a show about a woman who has to pretend to be a guy until her 26th birthday and watching the show i was like bruh what if this character wasn't 'pretending' and was trans thus in this story, the mc is trans. the other stuff inspired by the show is the kinda mafia undertones going on (spoiler i guess) but like i cba to write that so it's heaaavily dulled down in this but basically in bromance it's about a family running their amusement park happily after leaving mafia stuff basically, i just made this about a hotel instead of an amusement park and like,,,,i don't want to write a mafia story so this isn't about the mafia but it does kinda play into the overarching plot i guess we'll see i'm making up the plot as i go along

so yeah, this is my own work, just wanted to say that bc i came up with some (i think) awesome plot points earlier and i was like oh heck if ppl think i just yoinked this from a show :'( so yeah the situation is the same, the rest is different and the personalities of the characters are also waaaaay different

ALSO fuck i keep adding in more things - this story is pretty episodic, like there's a decent amount of time skips between chapters and things, it reads like a tv show going between episodes/scenes i guess and i'm trying to write less filler between chapters bc i hate writing that, this is much more like i know what is happening in each chapter. basically, i'm just writing how i want to, and i'm really enjoying that

ALSO thanks to my partner for giving me lots of spanish help, i speak none of the language whatsoever but they do so they gave me lil tid bits of info PLUS mateo kickboxes and i know literally nothing about that but my partner kickboxes so they also told me about the moves and what it's like to be punched and whatnot also they helped choose names for mateo, his parents and a few other characters, which was nice :)
