A woman with long hair enters her small stage for the first time.

She sat in front of the white piano. Taking a deep breath, holding in her nerves, she started playing.

She played a calm song, fit for the audience’s mood.

With slow conversations and low laughs, the performance was going well.

Everyone turned, the audience’s gaze now suddenly focused onto the pianist on the small stage.

She missed a note.

Amongst all the looks, one stood out: a particular couple.

They stared with an unparalleled intensity that, combined with the rest of the audience, made the pianist tremble with fear. Still, she took another deep breath and focused on the piano.

She finished, and the audience started clapping. Even with all the support, the two people who were supposed to be clapping were not. Not even a hint of emotion flashed across their faces.

Forcing a smile, she accepted defeat.

Thanking the ones who enjoyed the music, she left the stage teary-eyed.

Nobody ever saw the pianist again.
